Chapter 691 - Chapter 544.1

The throne room of Symphoria Palace trembled with the force of a world coming undone. Thunder rolled across the sky like the drums of a war that had been waiting centuries to begin, its bass rumble shaking the ancient stones and rattling the tapestries on the walls. Dust rained from the ceiling, and the windows rattled in their frames as if trying to escape.

Outside, a shadow descended over the island, dark and vast and impossible.

King Volt Ostara stood at the center of the chaos, his silver-grey fur bristling, his hazel eyes fixed on the windows that showed the impossible descent of a sky island falling from the heavens. His voice cut through the panic, sharp and commanding. "Protect the citizens! We need to protect the city!"

General Nyx Parn moved toward him, his black panther form a shadow of coiled power. His voice was low, urgent. "Sire, we need to get you and your family to safety—"

Volt's voice cracked across the throne room like a whip. "No! Protect the citizens! That is an order!"

Aurélie found her footing, her silver hair plastered to her face, her steel-gray eyes fixed on the general. She stepped forward, her hand resting on the hilt of Anathema. "We will assist." She turned to Nyx, her voice flat and decisive. "Where do you need us?"

Nyx nodded, his dark eyes blazing with purpose. He gestured toward the massive doors, his voice rising above the chaos. "This way!"

Atlas, Bō-Zak, and Vesta exchanged glances. Atlas's rust-red fur bristled with the tension. Bō-Zak's gold-flecked eyes danced with the grim humor, accepting that chaos was his natural habitat. Vesta's rainbow hair was plastered to her face, but her bright violet eyes burned with the determination of a performer who had found her stage.

They followed Nyx, Hagan, and Acco out the doors, their footsteps echoing in the corridor.

Volt turned to Lieutenant Bolale Hero and Iris Pometheia, "Stay here. Protect them." His gaze shifted to his wife. "I am going."

Queen Amaris Ostara stepped forward, her spotted kodkod coat dark with determination. "As am I!"

Princess Vihaan Ostara whined, her small frame pressing against her mother's legs, her pale blue eyes shimmering with tears. "No! Don't go!"

Iris Pometheia reached down, her massive hippo frame surprisingly gentle as she took the young princess's hand. "It's alright, little one." Her voice was warm, "They will be back."

Vihaan's voice cracked, her expression pleading. "Promise?"

Iris smiled, her third eye pulsing faintly with lavender light. "I do." Her voice dropped, knowing the shape of things to come. "All is as it should be."

Volt turned to Lieutenant Bolale Hero, sharp with urgency. "Take Prince Nadir."

Prince Nadir Ostara stepped forward, his blue-gold eyes blazing with protest. "No, Father! I can help!"

Volt looked at his son, his hazel eyes soft with the warmth of a father seeing his own reflection in the boy's defiance. "I know you can." He paused, his hand coming to rest on Nadir's shoulder. "But I need you here. To protect your sister."

Nadir's gaze shifted to Vihaan, who was clutching her tail like a lifeline while in Iris's arms. His shoulders dropped, the fight draining out of him. "But—"

Volt's voice was gentle but firm. "I am counting on you."

Nadir's jaw tightened, his pride warring with his duty. He nodded reluctantly. "Yes, Father."

Lieutenant Bolale Hero took his hand, with calm authority. "Come with me, Prince."

Nadir looked back at his sister, his gaze softening. Then he turned and followed Bolale, his small frame carrying the weight of a promise he did not want to make.

Vihaan watched her parents disappear through the doors, her pale blue eyes shimmering with the tears she refused to shed. Iris's hand was warm on her shoulder, grounding her in the chaos.

---

The courtyard was a maelstrom of rain and wind. The sky had turned a sickly grey, and the air was thick with the smell of wet stone and something else—something that smelled like the end of the world. The massive sky island loomed above them, its descent inexorable, its shadow swallowing the entire courtyard.

King Volt Ostara and Queen Amaris Ostara arrived in the courtyard, their feet splashing through puddles that had formed in the ancient stones. General Nyx Parn stood at the center of the chaos, his black panther form a monument of controlled fury. Major Hagan Fawn stood beside him, his cream-and-gold mane plastered to his face by the rain. Captain Acco Acheeth's cheetah form was coiled and ready, her golden-tawny fur bristling with tension.

Aurélie, Atlas, Bō-Zak, and Vesta stood in a loose formation, their eyes fixed on the sky.

Amaris gasped, her spotted coat darkening with shock. "By the ancestors..."

Volt swallowed hard, his voice flat with the weight of a reality that had just become impossible. "I am open to suggestions."

Nyx opened his mouth to respond—

The island exploded.

A blinding flash of light seared across the sky, and the massive landmass shattered into a million pieces. The shockwave rippled outward, shaking the very foundations of the palace. Rain fell in sheets, and the fragments of the broken island began their descent—not as a single mass, but as a thousand falling stones.

Everyone blinked, their eyes struggling to process what they had just witnessed.

Volt's voice was flat with disbelief. "Did that just happen?"

Atlas's voice cut through the chaos, his blue eyes fixed on the sky. "Marya."

Volt's head snapped around. "Who?"

Bō-Zak smirked, his gold-flecked eyes gleaming with dark amusement. "Our fearless leader."

Acco's voice was sharp with skepticism. "Your leader can do that?"

Amaris pointed, her voice sharp with urgency. "Look! There are people. They're falling!"

Nyx nodded, with the authority of a general who had found his purpose. "Alright. This I can do!"

He began to turn Sulong, his black fur dissolving into a cascade of silver-white moonlight. His frame expanded, his muscles swelling with raw power. Volt followed suit, his silver-grey fur becoming a luminescent cascade of white. Amaris transformed beside him, her spotted kodkod coat glowing with ethereal light. Hagan and Acco joined them, their Sulong forms blazing like streaks of lightning in the storm.

Atlas's head swiveled, his brow furrowed with confusion. "But there is no moon."

Hagan stepped forward, "We learned to break those chains long ago."

Acco winked at Atlas, her grin sharp and mischievous. "If you like, I can show you how."

Atlas's grin was wide, his blue eyes gleaming. "I'd like that."

Then they were gone.

Nyx, Hagan, Acco, Volt, and Amaris bolted across the sky in streaks of white light, their Sulong forms blazing through the rain. Nyx's voice echoed across the courtyard as he called out orders to the other Minks who were already transforming.

Aurélie transformed, her locust wings taking shape. Bō-Zak followed suit as he began to turn into a condor. They took to the sky as they began to intercept falling people.

Vesta nodded, her rainbow hair plastered to her face. "Okay, then." She adjusted her grip on Mikasi, her voice bright with determination. "Let's see who we can help."

Atlas stood in the rain, his rust-red fur soaked, his blue eyes fixed on the sky. He watched his fellow Minks streaking across the heavens in their Sulong forms, their silver-white bodies streaks of white in the falling rain and the falling people.
