Queen Elena's face drained of color. The people before her were speaking, but she couldn't hear a word.
"You've broken that which you sealed with us," a voice echoed.
She glanced around, but there was nothing.
"His body, your eyes were not to lie on… Now you must pay the price of disobedience."
Queen Elena gasped. She rushed back into her room, slamming the door behind her, to the surprise of everyone.
"Please… I beg you. It wasn't intentional. I… I didn't mean to break the oath," she pleaded, crawling, but it was too late.
Shadows of darkness danced around her, with smiles and painted lips.
"The feast has been approved… it will soon be served," the voices echoed.
Then the shadows disappeared.
Queen Elena glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Her face no longer looked freshened; wrinkles were all over, like it were hosting a feast. She seemed to have aged in minutes.
"My Queen," the servants knocked again, this time urgently and with worry.
