The trip to the library had been fruitful for everyone.
Not only did they obtain the ancient Firebending technique Fire Dragon Dance, just as planned, but they also learned the date of the next solar eclipse.
The Fire Dragon Dance, created by early Firebenders as they mimicked the movements of actual fire dragons, embodied the fundamental nature of fire—energy and life.
It was far more balanced and peaceful than the later, modified Firebending techniques. Less chance of losing control… but also less raw power.
Aang clearly preferred the Fire Dragon Dance. Kahn, meanwhile, had no strong preference and simply treated it as valuable reference material.
Sokka, on the other hand, was buzzing with excitement over the eclipse:
"During a solar eclipse, all Firebenders lose their Firebending. If that's not the perfect time to attack, what is?! We have to report this to the Earth King immediately!"
But Kahn, as usual, poured a very cold bucket of logic over him.
"Yeah, the solar eclipse is dangerous for Firebenders—but don't rely on it too much."
Aang blinked, "Why not?"
"Because the total eclipse usually lasts only a few minutes. That's way too short for a war, and leaves nearly zero room for error." Kahn spread his hands.
"And if you're thinking of a decapitation strike, then the handful of us here is more than enough. We don't need to wait for an eclipse. We could go any time."
"Just us?" Sokka stared at him like he'd grown another head—and honestly, the others didn't look much different.
The Fire Nation's century-long war had heavily affected all of them, leaving a deep, unconscious awe toward the title Fire Lord.
Even Kahn originally felt that way in his past world—until Azula nearly fried him with Reverse Lightning. That had permanently corrected his expectations.
Kahn smirked, "You don't actually think Ozai is that powerful, do you? Compared to me, he's nothing. His strength is probably even lower than this world's Azula."
"If we wanted to do a stealth decapitation mission, all we'd need is Appa to drop us near the capital at night. Then we slip through the secret passage under the palace and take him out. Easy."
The group looked at each other—Kahn's plan actually sounded shockingly feasible.
But then Sokka's eyes narrowed.
"Hold on. How do you know so much about Ozai? And why do you know about a secret passage under the palace?! Even if you've met Azula, you shouldn't know stuff like that!"
"Ah. Right. I think I forgot to tell you something."
Kahn scratched his cheek.
"The Ozai in my world has already been taken out."
".Huh?!!!"
The chorus of shock was instant and loud.
Sokka threw up his hands.
"You didn't think this was important information to tell us earlier?!"
"Sorry, sorry."
Kahn laughed awkwardly.
Don't ask—if you ask, the answer was: he forgot.
He couldn't exactly say that back when he transmigrated, his brain was full of Azula, and after that he got busy learning Airbending and Waterbending… and completely stopped caring about Ozai.
After all, his Ozai was already dead. This world's Ozai had nothing to do with him.
Katara looked stunned.
"So this is a parallel world… that's incredible."
They were still struggling to figure out how to defeat the Fire Nation, while the Kahn from another world had already done it.
Toph shrugged, "Whatever. Since Kahn's already taken out one Ozai, that means his plan works, right?"
"Of course," Kahn said confidently.
If Nike had come with him, he'd be bold enough to say he could solo Ozai and get out without a scratch.
Appa was great, but he wasn't a god. Nike was.
"So… does that mean we don't have to rush?" Aang murmured, looking lost.
Kahn's reveal shocked everyone, but Aang was hit the hardest.
As the Avatar, restoring balance was his responsibility—one he had already delayed by a hundred years.
Pressure, fear, expectation, the Fire Nation's constant hunting—it was all stacked on him. He'd even dreamed multiple times of Ozai killing him as he slept.
And now Kahn suddenly said that defeating the Fire Lord was actually simple. That he'd already done it before.
Instead of relief, Aang felt disoriented—like his world had been tilted sideways.
But Kahn didn't comfort him. Instead, he pressed harder.
"Aang, you don't actually think restoring balance is as simple as taking out Ozai, do you?"
".Isn't it?" Aang asked blankly.
Everyone turned to Kahn at once. The question in their eyes was the same.
"Politics is complicated." Kahn sighed and explained
"Taking out Ozai is just the prologue. After that comes the Fire Nation's throne succession, internal power struggles, war reparations, demands from every nation, territorial disputes… Any one of those issues could trigger a new war."
"The problems from a hundred years of conflict are massive. Real peace doesn't happen overnight."
Aang and the others looked overwhelmed. This was far above their usual 'punch enemy until problem solved' level.
Toph, on the other hand, crossed her arms.
"Ugh. Politics. That's why I like wandering around with you guys. So much less annoying."
"So what do we do now?" Aang asked helplessly.
Thankfully, Sokka regained clarity.
"These problems are too far ahead. Right now, let's stick to the basics—we need an ally. And the Earth King is our biggest option."
"Then we follow the original plan," Aang decided.
The group fell silent afterward, each lost in thoughts of the uncertain future.
But Kahn—the root cause of all this confusion—was gazing toward Ba Sing Se with genuine anticipation.
The impenetrable capital of the Earth Kingdom.
A city the Fire Nation had never conquered.
What kind of sight awaited them?
