Inside the main control room of the massive machine, the Azula sisters sat above the operators, both looking utterly bored as the commander rambled on:
"Once this drill pierces the outer wall, our army will sweep through the entire city. The Earth Kingdom will crumble instantly! By then, Ba Sing Se will be renamed in His Majesty's honor!"
"Nothing can stop us—"
CREAK—
Without warning, the entire machine let out a long, eerie groan. Then it slowly shuddered to a complete stop.
The commander's face drained of color.
"Find out what happened! Now!"
"Yes, sir!"
As the soldiers scrambled, Azula narrowed her eyes and spoke coldly:
"A machine that breaks down halfway… Do you honestly think something like this can win the Fire Nation a war?"
"I—I…" The commander trembled under her gaze, sweat forming instantly.
"Th-this must be an accident! We ran countless tests—nothing like this should be happening!"
"An accident?" Azula chuckled—a quiet, dangerous sound.
"You'd better pray it really is. Because if not, you may have an accident."

Toph's Metalbending was still primitive and unrefined, but that didn't matter.
Compared to the unbelievable talent she possessed, steel was no more than paper.
An unstoppable steel giant? Not anymore.
All they needed was to drop Toph directly beside the machine.
She tore open the metal shell with her bare hands, slipped inside the drill's internal structure, and then unleashed a furious barrage of kicks and punches.
The intricate mechanical components inside instantly became a tangled pile of mangled scrap.
The mighty Dragon Drill let out one final dying groan and ground to a halt.
"HA! What a piece of junk! It couldn't stop me at all!"
Toph raised her fists triumphantly.
"It went down… that fast…" Sokka muttered in disbelief as he stared at the giant, unmoving hulk of machinery.
The Fire Nation's steel warships had always terrified him. And this drill—larger, more advanced, more monstrous—had felt like an indestructible titan.
But in just minutes, Toph reduced it to metallic garbage.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it.
Then excitement slowly overtook his expression.
"If that's the case… maybe we really can win…"
Kahn's earlier words—"We can beat Ozai easily"—finally sank into his heart for real.
Kahn smiled. In his view, their tiny team was now strong enough to rival the legendary old masters—Iroh, King Bumi, and Master Pakku.
And unlike those old men, Team Avatar was young, full of potential, and only growing stronger.
After dismantling the Dragon Drill, the group boarded Appa once more and continued toward Ba Sing Se.
As Appa rose, Kahn glanced down by chance—just in time to see the Azula sisters standing at the gaping hole Toph had torn in the drill.
Azula looked up.
Their eyes met.
Her gaze was burning, furious, calculating.
Kahn exhaled softly and looked away.
Ah, Azula…

With the drill incident behind them, the journey went smoothly.
Soon, the towering walls of Ba Sing Se finally came into view—hundreds of meters high, stretching endlessly across the horizon.
According to history, Ba Sing Se had three enormous walls.
Even General Iroh, leading an elite Fire Nation force, had only ever managed to break through the first.
Aang revealed his identity as the Avatar, and the city's general welcomed him warmly, granting them immediate passage into the inner rings.
The three rings separated the Earth Kingdom's capital into layered regions.
Between the outer and middle walls was the Agrarian Zone: farmland, hills, animals, lush greenery—completely different from the dry desert outside.
Travel between the rings required a "train," which amused Kahn greatly—it wasn't a real train, just stone carriages on stone tracks.
Two Earthbenders at the rear physically pushed the train forward.
After passing through the sprawling Agrarian Zone and crossing the second wall, they finally entered Ba Sing Se proper.
The middle ring was filled with stone railways, rows of tiled roofs, countless shops, and lively streets. It was unmistakably Earth Kingdom in style.
But to Kahn, the architecture felt strangely familiar—very reminiscent of a certain dynasty from his original world.
"Wow…" Aang, Katara, and Sokka were completely stunned. Even the Fire Nation capital wasn't anywhere near this scale.
However, once they crossed into the middle ring, they were abruptly stopped.
A young woman in a green palace servant's dress approached with a calm, pleasant smile.
"Welcome, Avatar. My name is Judy. I have been ordered to accompany you on a tour of Ba Sing Se. It is a great honor."
"Please allow me to be your guide from now on."
A guide?
The group exchanged uncertain looks. But since she was clearly from the palace—and they had no idea how anything worked here—they reluctantly agreed to follow her.
"…This district houses newly arrived residents. Artisans and skilled workers also live here…" Judy explained.
It quickly became clear that her "tour" was exactly that—a tour. She seemingly planned to take them through the entire city.
At this rate, they'd be walking for days.
Sokka finally cracked.
"Shouldn't we go to the palace first? We have urgent military intelligence for the Earth King!"
Judy held her fixed, eerie smile.
"My duty is to show you around Ba Sing Se. Everyone, please look over here…"
"But how do we meet the Earth King?" Aang asked.
"With a formal request," Judy answered cheerfully. "Approval usually takes two to three months."
"Two to THREE MONTHS?!" Katara yelled. Sokka looked ready to explode.
Before he could, Kahn quickly grabbed his shoulder and stopped him. He smiled politely at Judy.
"We're a little tired from traveling. Could we rest for the day?"
"No problem at all," Judy replied instantly. "Please forgive me for not considering your fatigue."
With an elegant bow, she added, "Allow me to show you to your accommodations."
Kahn remained silent until she left them in a quiet, beautiful courtyard in the Upper Ring.
Once inside, he finally spoke.
"There's something wrong with this place."
Everyone turned to him.
"I think that guide named Judy has been brainwashed."
"What?!" Sokka shouted.
Ba Sing Se had arrived.
Which meant—
The "uncle" could not be far behind.
