I turned to Devisha and pointed the ring on the Tsahanam mercenary's palm.
"Yours is instilled with my surface-tension spell as well as my gravitational spell. Whenever the ring is activated, it would allow you to walk on water and even steep surfaces."
The former assassin gasped at my explanation.
"How do I activate the spells?"
She asked eagerly.
"Put on the ring. You should be able to sense something."
I told her.
Devisha slipped the accessory through her finger. The woman's brows immediately rose.
"I know what you mean. It's as if there's something slightly tugging my mind. Or like a new tiny part of my body that I could move, similar to flaring my nose or making my ears twitch."
"That's right. Why don't you try tugging back that something or moving that new body part?"
I asked her.
Devisha stood silent for a second.
Suddenly I could sense a slight radiation from her ring.
"Now try stepping onto that wall over there."
I asked her again.
Devisha did as told.
She planted her foot on the wall.
The woman frowned when she tried to wriggle her leg. That was when she decided to plant her other foot beside it.
My other comrades gasped in disbelief when Devisha started walking up the walls and onto the dome ceiling of the alchemy lab.
Her entire body was now hanging upside down while her two feet were planted straight at the highest point of the dome.
"How do I deactivate the spell?"
Devisha asked.
"Simply release your hold on that tug or relax your flex on the new body part."
I told her.
The woman nodded back to me and started running back downward along the dome.
Midway, I sensed the ring's radiation vanished.
Devisha immediately pushed herself off the wall and landed agilely back on the floor.
"This ring is incredible! I can get anywhere with this on!"
The former assassin said.
I nodded to her.
"Given your skills and specialty, you would be our scout, Devisha. We will task you to study the field ahead of us and give back report of our surroundings. The ring would help you perform that duty."
The fifteenth floor required only one party.
We would surely be outnumbered in the third Quintal Trial.
Outwitting the enemies would be key to our victory. And we could only outwit the enemies by having information.
It was the scout's duty to acquire the information we needed.
Devisha had described me of her Stealthy Movement skill. It was the main reason why I chose her for the scout role.
Apparently the skill could suppress her presence and allowed her to move undetected. Tarran also had such skill.
I had tested this skill of hers and Tarran's.
My mana detection field could still sense their presence, albeit vaguely. But it was almost impossible to detect them with naked eyes, especially when they were very still and in good hiding spot.
A valuable ability indeed.
And with the ring on, Devisha would be able to traverse through any structure and terrain, and even infiltrate behind enemy lines.
It was a perfect equipment for stealthy mobilization.
Though I should tweak the ring again to suppress its radiation whenever its spells were activated.
I then turned to Jonah and Darius.
"Give me your regular throwing spears and arrows that I asked you to bring. I would also need your rings for the moment."
The two men nodded to me and handed the projectiles and the rings.
I laid Jonah's ring and his three throwing spears on the enchantment pedestal together while I put Darius's on the small table beside the pedestal.
I waved my hands and caused a thread of mana to flow out of Jonah's ring and into one of his throwing spears.
The magic casting was suddenly restrained by the forged land's mysterious power. Preventing the spell from being completed.
Right then, a notification window appeared before me.
[Serafina (★★★★) is connecting 'Ring of Malaikat (A)' to a 'Wind Throwing Spear (B-)']
[Once connected, the wearer of 'Ring of Malaikat (A)' will be able to summon 'Wind Throwing Spear (B-)' arbitrarily.]
[Grant 'Ring of Malaikat (A)' access to 'Wind Throwing Spear (B-)'?]
[Yes (selected)/No]
It was addressed to master for the option was chosen without me doing anything.
The restraint was released and the thread of mana flowed into the throwing spear.
I repeated the process to the second projectile.
[Yes (selected)/No]
[Don't ask me again for this particular item –(checkmarked)–]
Once all three throwing spears were enchanted with the ring, I handed only the ring back to Jonah.
"Put on the ring. You should sense the similar feeling Devisha had upon wearing hers."
Jonah nodded to me and slipped his accessory through his finger.
His eyes suddenly widened in surprise, gazing back toward the enchantment pedestal.
"It's weird. But I could feel those throwing spears' presence in my mind. Like they're softly pulling me."
He said.
I nodded to him for he described the proper feeling.
"Extend your ring hand and tug one of the throwing spears in your mind."
Jonah did as told and lifted his right hand. He closed his eyes.
Suddenly one of the throwing spears flashed and vanished from the pedestal. It reappeared on Jonah's ring hand.
The shepherd quickly grasped the spear before it fell to the ground.
He and my other comrades gasped in disbelief.
"I could recall my throwing spear after I threw them?"
I nodded to him proudly.
"You can even summon them straight from the storage during the trial. Master has given their permission. I don't have to open a dimensional portal for you to replenish them anymore."
The shepherd and the others jerked their eyes to the rings in surprise.
I went on as I watched their gaping mouths.
"Both yours and Darius's would have the same ability. Replenishing your projectiles without needing a dimensional portal. You would practically have a limitless supply given the amount of throwing spears and arrows we have in storage."
The projectile replenishment was something that had been nagging my mind for a while now.
Jonah and Darius should be able to fight more freely now that they did not need to worry of running out of throwing spears and arrows.
"What about health potions? Can we summon health potions as well?"
Darius, the experienced archer, suddenly asked.
I shook my head disappointingly for this question.
"It requires additional set of dimensional spells to allow you to summon another kind of object. This ring isn't capable of holding more enchantment."
I explained with regretful face.
I went on.
"That is why I didn't cast the enchantment on Devisha's ring to the others, though the ability would be very useful. Nor Shanny's and Devisha's allowed them to summon more swords or daggers."
"Is there a way to make the ring capable to hold more spells?"
Shanny asked.
"We need to re-forge the rings with better supporting materials. Which we don't have at the moment."
I said.
"What if we make more rings and equip them? We still have more of the reward crystal, right?"
Devisha proposed.
I shook my head in objection.
"We do have plenty more of the crystal. But it is too dangerous for a non-mage like you to wield multiple artifacts of this level. Your mind wouldn't be able to handle controlling the spells. It would be much better if you wear a much stronger artifact, but only that one."
After hearing my explanation, my comrades nodded to me in understanding.
"Well, as long as we have Fina to open us dimensional portals, we won't have to worry about health potions."
Jonah said.
Shanny nodded in agreement.
"To be honest, we don't really need the rings since Serafina will be with us most of the time. She would be able to grant us those same spells the rings offered as long as we're close to her."
"That's right. We would only need the rings if we don't have a mage with us."
Devisha said.
"In that case, I could see the other parties making good use of these magic artifacts."
Darius said.
My comrades read my mind.
It was actually my intention of designing the rings.
The other parties in the lobby did not have access to dimensional portal during the trial.
It would still be a while until Vallerynne and Yuxia learned dimensional magic. But even then there would still be parties who would not have access to portals.
I intended to create magic rings for those specific parties.
Our casualties on the tenth floor could be reduced significantly had Party 2 and 3 had access to the supplies in the storage.
Hopefully from now on we would be able to prevent casualties caused by lack of supplies.
"Despite the rings' limitation, they are still incredible! I probably won't have to waste time reaching over my back to grab my throwing spears anymore."
Jonah said excitedly.
Darius nodded to him.
"It would allow us freer range of movement. I too might not need carrying my quivers as well."
"But wouldn't such change affect your fighting style? Both of you have been used to fighting using the old ways till this point."
Devisha told them.
She wielded two kinds of weapons. The Tsahanam mercenary would know about combat habit.
"I too wanted to see just how powerful I'd be using the ring. I need to grasp my strength before the Quintal Trial."
Shanny commented.
I nodded to their statements.
"Use the remaining preparation time to get used to the rings' abilities. You need to master their uses before our climb to the fifteenth floor."
