Inside the room, Selina found Sean dragging his thumb across his lip, as if trying to hide the tear from her. She rushed toward him, her face etched with worry as her eyes scanned him for any injury.
"Did Zane do something to you?"
Sean was about to brush it off, but Selina's eyes widened at the sight of his split lip.
"My goodness! That rascal really hit you," she gasped, reaching for his face with trembling hands.
She knew it. Zane would always resort to violence, and she hated it—no matter the reason.
"Selina, I'm fine. Don't panic," Sean whispered, taking her hand and gently lowering it to his side.
"But he…."
"I know you're scared he might do something to me. The truth is, I'm not shaken," he reassured her.
The stinging worry in Selina eased slightly; Sean looked more fearless than she could have imagined.
He glanced at his branded, luxury silver wristwatch. "You should get prepared. The event begins in an hour."
