Selina's hand instinctively slipped into the pocket of her pajama, pulling out her phone. She pressed the power button, and the screen lit up with the time—10:44 PM.
Had Zane been standing out there for that long? Whatever. She forced the curiosity aside.
She straightened her spine with an air of indifference, exhaling to steady herself. "He can stand there for all I care. The night is freezing. He won't be able to withstand it."
She nodded, storming back into her room before climbing onto the bed. She tucked herself beneath the blanket, eyes tightly shut, whispering to herself to doze off and forget whatever she had seen on the balcony.
But peace refused to come. She turned to the left, then to the right, twisting the blanket restlessly between her legs, longer than she could measure.
Her thoughts betrayed her, nagging incessantly.
How can you be this cold-hearted, Selina?
"Am I cold-hearted? Who's more heartless—him or me?" she countered.
