Volume 1 Chapter 269: The Door to a New World
Considering the fact that it's so big that they could barely explore it all, Lily's high-rise apartment had to be over 200 square meters. From the living room, a massive glass wall offered a bird's-eye view of the city's glittering nightscape. In the far distance, the shimmering outline of the coastline could just barely be seen.
From the way a fine layer of dust coated nearly every surface, it was clear no one had lived here for a while.
After a bit of light cleaning in Lily's bedroom and the living room, the three girls collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted.
"It's food o'clock~"
Yan Xinya flopped backwards onto the couch, legs resting on the armrest and waving in the air as she looked up at the other two.
"I'm starving! Should we eat out?"
Lily shook her head. "There are not many restaurants around here."
This was a newly developed area with barely any shops to speak of.
She looked down, opened a food delivery app, and handed her phone to Yan Xinya.
"You order."
"Let's see~ any local specialties here?"
"Nope…"
Lily's attention shifted to Ning Chu, who was curled up on the couch nearby… still fiddling with that tentacle ornament from earlier.
Her expression stiffened for a moment. Then, trying to act nonchalant, she asked, "You like it?"
"It's pretty cool~ I think it'd look great on my desk."
"Wanna have it?"
"Didn't you say it cost several hundred? That's way too expensive..."
Ning Chu muttered as she shook her head, but she glanced up at Lily and instantly noticed the unnatural tension in her expression.
The suspicion in her heart deepened.
She suspected this might be… one of those kinds of toys.
But she wasn't entirely sure. After all, it had a pretty insane design—those tentacles with Cthulhu vibes were just a bit too much.
Cool? Definitely.
But as a toy? That was seriously questionable…
"Where'd you buy it? Send me the link?"
A faint flush colored Lily's cheeks. She looked down, then sent Ning Chu a shopping link.
After that, she added an embarrassed face emoji and a blunt confession:
"Don't guess anymore. It's my toy."
"..."
Ning Chu's mouth twitched when she glanced at the message.
"It feels really nice~ Want to try it? I've disinfected it."
"No."
"It's the kind that goes in the back hole, so you don't have to worry about it breaking your hymen~"
"?!!"
Ning Chu immediately placed the tentacle back on the coffee table like it was on fire and turned her head toward the giant glass window by the living room.
Wait—you used that thing here?!
With that floor-to-ceiling window right beside you?
Even if no other building was taller than this one, what if someone saw—?!
Just imagining the scene made her heart skip a beat.
Her own face flushed a little now too.
She'd never seen a toy this extreme before—and she'd just been hugging it to her chest like a plushie a few minutes ago!
As expected of a succubus~
She glanced back at the tentacle, her curiosity now thoroughly piqued.
What would that feel like…?
"You two… why are your faces so red?"
Yan Xinya, who had just finished ordering dinner, looked up and found her two friends flushed and dazed.

She reached over to grab the phone. "Lily's the one treating tonight?"

"Lily wakes up every morning with an ocean view… This night scene is gorgeous."
"Shouldn't we do something fun tonight?" the wolf-girl's eyes lit up.
"Let's have a drink! We're at Lily's place, and since there are no outsiders around. Ning Chu, you should drink too!"
"Why do you like drinking this much…"
"It feels so nice when your head's all floaty~"
"You're gonna get wasted one day and get in trouble," Ning Chu grumbled as she absentmindedly picked out some dinner options and handed the phone back to Lily.
She curled up on the couch again, but her curiosity refused to die.
Casting a sneaky glance at the two beside her, she unlocked her phone and tapped open the link Lily had just sent her.
Clicking into the shop link, Ning Chu was instantly bombarded by an array of bizarre, bold, and strangely stylish toys. Some looked so outrageous she didn't know whether to scream or admire them.
What in the world... These things are terrifying!
But it's also kinda cool?!
Everything was drenched in that dark, fantastical Cthulhu aesthetic—otherworldly, chaotic, and somehow... alluring.
It was as if she had just unlocked the door to an entirely new world.
Her curiosity sated (and her ears slightly burning from all that she'd just seen), she gave the store a follow, then raised her head and asked, "Lily, no one usually lives here?"
"Mhm. Just me."
"You live in this huge place alone?" Ning Chu hugged her legs to her chest, chin resting on her knees. "So lucky…"
Her own home was barely seventy square meters—two bedrooms and a living room crammed with three people. It was already tight before. Now that she'd awakened as a succubus and gained a little cat girl sister, their four-person household was bursting at the seams.
Come winter break, she'd probably end up squished onto the same bed as her mom and Black Bean.
Suddenly, the living room dimmed.
Lily had turned on a projector. A huge white screen dropped down in front of the sofa, instantly transforming the space into a private theater.
She casually selected a movie, then got up and left. A moment later, she returned with a bottle of red wine and three elegant glasses.
"Xinya."
"I knew you were loaded!"
"I don't have a villa…" Lily sat back down, face still expressionless. "And no estate either."
But this kind of luxury apartment—one unit per floor, in a high-rise with a view—even if it wasn't in a first-tier city, was still seriously high-end by third-tier city standards.
So it's official: Only Wen Yang and I are broke peasants.
Ning Chu turned her head and eyed the wolf girl, who was now wrestling with the wine bottle. "Don't tell me your family is rich too?"
"Eh? My dad butchers pigs at the wet market. You think that makes us rich?"
Hard to say…
POP!
The sudden sound of the cork flying out made both Ning Chu and Lily jump in their seats.
"I finally got it open!"
Yan Xinya poured the wine with visible satisfaction. Her ears perked up in excitement, and her tail wagged behind her like a motorized fan.
"Cheers!"
"Go easy on me…" Ning Chu sighed but still raised her glass. "Cheers."
She normally didn't drink—especially in this new world where being too drunk could mean real danger—but tonight, surrounded by her closest girlfriends, she let it slide.
She took a small sip.
And then…
Her eyes kept drifting back to that tentacle on the coffee table. No matter how she tried to ignore it, it felt wrong just leaving it there.
Grimacing, she bent down, opened the drawer beneath the table, and stuffed the toy inside.
Clatter—
A few smooth, pink, oval-shaped balls rolled around inside with a soft jingle.
"..."
Oh, these she recognized. Lily had once generously offered to lend her some.
She seriously suspected this succubus was trying to turn her into a fellow toy enthusiast.
Ning Chu's face stiffened. She wordlessly slammed the drawer shut again and lifted her gaze to Lily—only to find her still sitting cool and composed on the sofa, expression unreadable, eyes fixed on the movie as if nothing had happened.
How is she so calm?!
"I'm starving—when's the food getting here~?" Yan Xinya groaned.
"Half an hour," Lily replied after glancing at the delivery app. Then casually, "Wanna go out tomorrow?"
"Totally~ Let's find something delicious!"
Ning Chu teased, "Xinya, you're worse than my little cat girl with how obsessed you are with food."
"I am not!"
