Chapter 442 - Chapter 443: Beerus

Frieza crashed to the ground face-first, his entire body covered in streams of purple blood. His tail had been severed completely, and the gaping wound at the base was still spurting blood — a miserable, pitiful sight.

The subordinates he'd brought along stared in disbelief, frozen in fear. The smarter ones had already started running toward the ship, desperate to escape.

Kaito glanced lazily in the direction of the ship while eating a skewer of grilled meat. A golden glint flashed in his eyes.

Boom!

An explosion roared. The ship and everyone on it vanished in an instant, reduced to a pile of ash.

Seventeen slowly descended from the sky, not even glancing at the motionless Frieza on the ground. He walked past him, returning to his grill. As he flipped over a nearly burnt piece of meat, he muttered,

"Brother-in-law, that Frieza guy's really not all that."

Kaito rested his hands behind his head, lying comfortably on Eighteen's lap pillow, and replied lazily,

"Actually, his talent's not bad. If he'd done a few push-ups before coming here, you probably wouldn't have beaten him so easily."

"Huh? Are you kidding, brother-in-law?"

"Nope. He really does have that kind of potential."

Across the field, Vegeta was grinning ear to ear as he stared at Frieza's battered body. He wanted to get closer — to savor the sight of his old enemy's downfall.

Dignity forgotten, he crawled forward on his stomach, dragging himself toward Frieza like a worm.

Gohan hurried over to help him up.

"Vegeta-san, you want to get closer? I can take you there!"

Before Vegeta could refuse, Gohan hoisted him up and brought him to Frieza's side.

Frieza was barely alive — more air leaving than entering. He couldn't even move a finger. Vegeta spat viciously at him.

"Frieza, never thought you'd end up like this, did you? Look at you now! Groveling in the dirt! Where's all that arrogance now? Hahaha!"

Vegeta burst into laughter — loud, raw, cathartic. Years of humiliation and rage finally spilled out in that moment.

Kaito snapped his fingers, and the black shackles around Vegeta's body vanished instantly. Vegeta shot Kaito a look of awe and gratitude, then turned back to Frieza, raising his hand to deliver the finishing blow.

Suddenly, a purple hand clamped around his wrist.

Startled, Vegeta turned his head — and his face froze in terror. His voice trembled.

"B–Beerus?!"

Beerus narrowed his golden eyes slightly, speaking in a calm, detached tone.

"So you still remember me. Were you the one who did this to Frieza? You've gotten strong rather quickly."

Seventeen snorted impatiently from the side.

"Hey! What're you talking about, cat-face? I was the one who took Frieza down — me, Seventeen!"

"Hm?"

Beerus turned toward him, his expression darkening.

"Was it you? You don't seem very polite, boy."

Swish!

In an instant, Beerus appeared before Seventeen, pressing a finger against his forehead.

"Showing disrespect to a god… means you can disappear now."

Purple divine energy swirled around his fingertip. Seventeen's eyes widened — his body frozen stiff, unable to move.

At that moment, Kaito, still lying on Eighteen's lap, spoke up lazily.

"Quite the arrogance you've got there, God of Destruction. Do you really think you can kill one of my people just because you feel like it?"

"Hm?"

Beerus frowned, turning to face him.

"So, you know who I am? And who exactly are you?"

"That can wait. For now, maybe you should take your hand off my brother-in-law's head… or I might actually get mad."

Beerus's eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Oh? Then show me whether you have the right to say that."

As he spoke, violet ripples of destructive energy radiated from his fingertip. The air trembled — pure annihilation spreading outward.

Buzz!

Two beams of golden light shot from Kaito's eyes. Beerus instinctively pulled back, alarm flashing through his expression.

The light grazed the space between their fingers — and the lingering energy alone made Beerus's heart tighten in unease.

"This aura… I know it! So you're the one — the powerful being on Earth!" he exclaimed.

Whis appeared beside him, his usual calm replaced by a rare seriousness as he studied Kaito's unfamiliar face.

Under their gazes, Kaito slowly stood up. Seventeen hurried behind him, still shaken.

"Brother-in-law, that rabbit-looking guy's crazy strong. I didn't even stand a chance!"

Kaito chuckled.

"Of course. Like I told you before — he's a God of Destruction, the strongest deity in this universe."

"Huh? That's a God of Destruction? You really can't judge a god by his looks, huh?"

Eighteen clutched Kaito's arm tightly, worry written across her face.

"The strongest god? Then… does that mean even you can't beat him?"

Kaito smiled reassuringly.

"Didn't I just say? He's the strongest god in this universe. The universe doesn't end with just one, you know."

Eighteen tilted her head, completely lost — this was far beyond her understanding.

Beerus and Whis exchanged a glance. Whis finally spoke.

"Then which universe are you from? A being of your level shouldn't exist without anyone knowing about it."

That was the same question puzzling everyone present. To Bulma and the others, Kaito's sudden appearance was already abnormal — no one knew where he'd come from.

Kaito shrugged.

"I'm not a god from any universe you know. Forget it — too much explaining. Why don't you tell me what you're doing here first?"

Beerus took a step forward.

"Obviously, I came to test the strength of this mysterious god. So? Care for a fight?"

"Sure," Kaito said with a faint smile. "I've been curious about the might of the strongest God of Destruction. But this isn't the right place. Let's change locations."

Beerus nodded indifferently. For him, the battlefield didn't matter — destroying planets was part of his job anyway.

Whis, however, looked uneasy. He could sense that Kaito's power was at least equal to that of a God of Destruction. If the two of them fought here, the entire universe might be wiped out.

But Beerus was already too eager.

"Whis! Take us somewhere far away. This time, I want a real fight!"

Whis hesitated for a moment, then finally agreed — but in his mind, he made a firm decision.

If things went out of control, he, as an angel, would have to intervene immediately.
