Chapter 303 - Chapter 303: Could It Be That I'm the Final Boss?

Chapter 303: Could It Be That I'm the Final Boss?

The night deepened, and sleep eluded everyone.

After sensing Bai Xiaoyao's presence departing from Luo Wusheng's room and swiftly returning to her own, Lu Yuliu, who had been unable to sleep and just happened to be monitoring the situation, quickly sent a message to the demoness.

However, Bai Xiaoyao didn't elaborate on the details of what had happened, merely stating that everything needing resolution had been resolved.

Lu Yuliu sank into thought, glancing at the night sky that would likely remain dark for several more hours.

The timing was ambiguous—neither too early nor too late. If Bai Xiaoyao had indeed discussed so many topics with Luo Wusheng, as she had suggested, then it made sense for things to have concluded by now. At the very least, the issue of the engagement and the recent series of events would likely have taken quite some time to untangle.

'So she probably didn't have the time to do anything else...'

This was her reasoning. She never even considered the possibility that Bai Xiaoyao had completely ignored the engagement issue. After all, Bai Xiaoyao had seemed genuinely affected upon first hearing about it.

But Bai Xiaoyao's thoughts were entirely beyond Lu Yuliu's expectations.

Inside Bai Xiaoyao's room, just a short distance from Luo Wusheng's.

With a gentle flick of her fingers, the room's lights ignited, illuminating her exquisitely beautiful face adorned with a faint smile. With a wave of her delicate hand, Bai Xiaoyao placed a box containing the black silk along with a wide-bladed wooden sword onto the table. Then, half-undressed, she let her soft body collapse comfortably onto her bed.

Her cheeks flushed slightly, and her dainty feet swayed lightly in the air, occasionally rubbing against each other.

Tonight's progress had slightly exceeded her expectations. However, this was not a bad thing—it was, in fact, a development that surpassed her original goals.

"What needed confirmation has been confirmed..."

Thinking about how her small feet had "inadvertently" touched a certain firm, heated rod multiple times tonight, Bai Xiaoyao pressed her thighs together, her beautiful eyes sparkling with confidence.

There was no doubt about it. Her senior brother, though sometimes emotionally dense, was not entirely unresponsive when it came to his body.

As she had suspected, her senior brother seemed to harbor some sort of inexplicable reservations about this aspect of relationships.

'This likely has to do with the matters he's been handling in the royal city. According to him, these actions are under the orders of master to prevent a calamity for the Demon Sect. While this might be true, it's probably also deeply tied to him personally, which is why he places such importance on it.'

This issue was likely her senior brother's emotional barrier. Until it was resolved and everything settled, his reservations wouldn't disappear. This held true not only with herself but also with Lu Yuliu—and perhaps even others.

Now, if she wanted to make further progress, even taking the next step in their relationship, it would require her to be more proactive and explicit...

But why rush?

At the moment, her senior brother's side only had herself and that awkward Lu Yuliu. Bai Xiaoyao, with her sharp insight into human nature, was sure of one thing—her "good friend" would never take the initiative.

Without initiative, there wouldn't be much progress under the current circumstances.

This was the real reason why Bai Xiaoyao didn't mention the engagement during tonight's conversation. She already knew her senior brother's stance on the matter, having heard it firsthand from Lu Yuliu, who had wanted her to address it. Even if she were to ask Luo Wusheng again face-to-face, his response likely wouldn't change.

In that case, why bring it up?

Luo Wusheng wasn't inclined to bring up the engagement himself. As for the Empress, who might not even be aware of it, she was probably still preoccupied with the Netherkin Nation matters and the Human Immortal List.

Their relationship had only seen two brief encounters. There was no way it could develop so quickly.

At least for now, the Empress posed less of a threat than a certain naive little girl.

"Human Immortal List..." Bai Xiaoyao murmured, her gaze thoughtful.

She swung her legs off the bed, the disarray of her robes doing nothing to diminish her allure. With a wave of her hand, a neatly folded set of clothes appeared at her side. After checking the jade ornament in her hair, her smile deepened.

Luo Wusheng exhaled a long sigh of relief.

Finally, the fiery heat in his heart, stirred by Bai Xiaoyao's teasing, had subsided.

He couldn't deny it—despite the time apart, the little demoness remained as irresistible as ever.

There was no chance of sleeping now. Not only was it already late, but he also didn't want to risk encountering yet another dream of being chased down by a furious Lu Yuliu.

There was no doubt in his mind: if he went to sleep now, he'd end up sharing another dream with his junior sister, and it would likely involve a springtime rendezvous.

"I feel like the current trajectory is forcing me to start building a harem..." Luo Wusheng muttered to himself.

With Ling Shuangxue as his Dao Companion, the little pink fox essentially reserved, and a marriage agreement suddenly appearing with the empress, his lovely demoness junior sister was as enchanting as ever...

Somewhere along the line, the mindset of the Demon Sect saint had shifted.

Since he had already begun defying the original trajectory of this world, perhaps going a little further wouldn't hurt?

But clearly, his mindset had not completely changed.

'No matter how beautiful the future is, I still have to survive the dangerous present...'

Right now, even his situation with his dearest Ling Shuangxue remains unresolved, let alone the tangled web of ongoing events. Any bold thoughts would have to wait.

For now, improving relationships remained a priority, especially with his adorable Lu Yuliu...though he wasn't sure how much favorability would be needed to dispel her sense of betrayal.

Sighing, Luo Wusheng dismissed his reckless thoughts, flipping a black wooden token into his hand.

"That sneaky master of mine seems to have intentionally left a flaw...so he probably wants to pass me some information? But why all the roundabout methods?"

It felt like everyone, whether from the Buddhist or Demon Sects, was playing a game of who could stay aloof the longest.

Still, this did prove one thing: he was important.

'Wait a second... Does this mean that, in the original story, the bald monk from the Buddhist sect really had plans to use my body as the final boss for Lu Yuliu's ascension?'

Something didn't sit right.

After all, most of the ultimate conclusions he'd drawn were based on the testimony of a certain rat Netherkin. While the logic seemed airtight, there was always the chance of a trap.

Dealing with all these scheming individuals, especially when his survival depended on it, required the utmost caution.

Fidgeting with the saint's token in his hand, Luo Wusheng eventually stowed it away in his storage pouch.

Whatever it triggered, it would be safer to activate it elsewhere. If it ended up destroying his room, it'd be a hassle.
