Chapter 236 - Chapter 237: Enel Descends!

After eliminating the four high priests, under Gan Fall's guidance, Jotaro and the others quickly arrived at the Golden City of Shandora.

Along the way, they didn't encounter any obstacles.

Contrary to what everyone imagined, there was no gold here, only broken-down ancient buildings like ruins.

Nami looked around, seeing green moss covering the crumbling walls, not a shadow of gold anywhere.

"Could it be that old man tricked us?"

The Shandian chieftain had vividly described the Golden City, yet after arriving, it looked like this?

Completely different from what she had in mind, the gap was too great, and Nami stomped her feet angrily.

Gan Fall also hadn't expected that the once-prosperous Shandora would become this desolate.

Before he was kicked off the throne of "god," this place had still been filled with gold, how could it have turned out like this now?

Jotaro walked to the side of a collapsed building, carefully observed, and said, "The gold here was all melted down. I think it must have been Enel's doing."

"The melting point of gold is very low, about a thousand degrees, and with Enel's ability it would be easy to reach that temperature."

Nami said, "That means all the gold is with Enel then."

Jotaro gave a slight grunt of agreement.

Nami walked to his side, very seriously said, "Jotaro, how about you go defeat Enel?"

Jotaro didn't respond, instead he said to everyone, "Our goal now is to find the Poneglyph."

"Earlier that old man said, the stone tablet carved with the Poneglyph lies beneath the giant golden bell."

"Since Enel melted all the gold here, I'm afraid the golden bell hasn't been spared either."

"Without a landmark to guide us, it's even harder to find the Poneglyph now. This city of Shandora is huge, we'd better hurry and search around."

Nami felt a bit discouraged.

What's so good about finding a Poneglyph, isn't finding money more important?

All her money had been on the ship, and under Enel's attack it was reduced to ashes, now she was flat broke.

Jotaro's ship had been destroyed too, yet she couldn't understand why he could still stay so calm, focusing on finding some Poneglyph.

Vivi too felt uneasy.

Because without a ship, their sailing speed from here on would inevitably be affected.

And she was in a hurry to return to Alabasta.

"Nami, don't worry. Even though Enel melted the gold here, maybe there's still other treasure left." Vivi comforted her, "We can search for the Poneglyph while also looking around."

Nami looked at her gratefully, feeling her words made sense.

In such a huge city, Enel couldn't possibly have taken everything, he must have missed something.

In an instant her fighting spirit returned.

Jotaro reminded, "We'll split up, but don't stray too far."

Saying so, he took the lead into the desolate city.

The others, afraid of danger, didn't wander far from Jotaro either, staying within about a hundred meters around him, searching for where the Poneglyph might be.

"Strange." Jotaro muttered as he stared at where the clouds connected with the bottom of the buildings.

"What is it?"

Gan Fall had been following at Jotaro's side.

He felt this man was simply too mysterious, somehow he was just drawn to him.

Jotaro said, "Haven't you noticed? These clouds aren't bearing the load of the buildings at all."

Gan Fall looked puzzled, "What does that mean?"

Jotaro explained, "The clouds of Sky Island are unique, but their function is no different from soil on the ground."

"Building houses on them, the clouds act like a soil foundation, needing to bear the stress from the weight of the buildings above."

"But these clouds aren't serving as a foundation at all."

Gan Fall said, "You mean…"

Jotaro pointed at his feet, "That's right, the foundation is below the clouds."

"I think half of these buildings are buried inside the clouds."

'Star Platinum!'

The Platinum Star appeared, and with its hard fists began pummeling the clouds.

"Ora ora ora ora!"

Layer upon layer of mighty force smashed through the thick clouds.

"Ora!"

With the final punch, the whole cloud surface caved in, revealing the land hidden beneath.

Gan Fall said in disbelief, "So the real Shandora city is down below?"

"Strictly speaking, it's the true face of Jaya Island."

Jotaro remembered the Shandian chieftain had mentioned Jaya Island was blasted up into the sky by the Knock-Up Stream.

Perhaps at the moment it rose, Jaya Island merged with the clouds of the Sky Island, causing most of the land to be buried beneath them.

Gan Fall stared blankly at Jotaro.

He had lived on the Island of God for decades without knowing there was another world beneath the clouds.

And Jotaro, a newcomer who hadn't been here long, had already discovered the underground structures.

'This…'

For a while, he didn't know what to say.

Jotaro was just about to inform the others of this discovery, planning to take them down to take a look.

And just then, from not far away came the screams of Nami and Vivi.

"Mr. 9, are you alright!"

"You… who are you!"

Jotaro's eyes narrowed, and he immediately strode toward the source of the voices.

Gan Fall followed close behind.

Over at Nami's side, Mr. 9's whole body was charred black, lying on the ground, completely unconscious.

No matter how Vivi called to him, he had no reaction.

Enel landed to the side, picking at his ear.

"Hey hey, stop shouting. Thunder and rain, all are God's blessing, you should be feeling grateful."

Nami stared at him in terror, "Enel?!"

"Even people from the Blue Sea know me?" Enel was a bit surprised, but then suddenly realized, "Ah, right, I forgot that old guy Gan Fall is with you."

"He must have told you about me."

"Enel!" Vivi shouted through gritted teeth, "You hurt Mr. 9 like this, I won't forgive you!"

In her hand she swung a small knife shaped like peacock feathers, throwing it hard, wanting to pin it into Enel's body.

Enel didn't move an inch, letting her attack him.

Vivi's knife pierced right through his body.

Only then did Vivi realize, "I forgot his body can become elemental."

"This is God! Do you understand now!" Enel smirked with a crooked grin.

At the same time, powerful electricity used the knife blade as a conductor, swiftly traveling toward Vivi's body.

"Ora!"

As Jotaro was running over, he saw this scene, the Platinum Star quickly snapped off a shard of stone from the side, and hurled it forcefully.

With a sharp slicing sound through the air, it cut the wire that was connecting to the knife blade just before the electricity reached.
