Chapter 56: Red Devils Rising
Sunday, February 21, 2010
Crawley Town returned home with one of the biggest wins of their season. They had beaten Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor in the FA Cup, with Thiago scoring the only goal in the 75th minute. Adam Fletcher also played a major part, making several important saves to protect the lead.
The result surprised plenty of people in Crawley. The team, sitting sixth in League Two, had gone to Turf Moor as clear underdogs and somehow come away with a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The quarter-final was scheduled for March 29, but there was still plenty of football to play before then. Crawley had league games against Macclesfield Town and Morecambe, while the quarter-final draw was due to take place on March 1.
