Chapter 57: The Red Devils' Resolve
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
The West Ham United draw had been announced on March 1, and Crawley now had a huge FA Cup quarter-final to look forward to on March 29. The players were excited, but there was no time to get carried away. They still had a league game against Bournemouth on March 7.
Crawley were sitting fourth in League Two after their 3–0 win over Morecambe. The win over Burnley had also given the squad plenty of confidence. Still, Niels knew the next few weeks would be important.
At training, the weather was cold and wet. The pitch at Broadfield was covered in a thin layer of rain as the players made their way out.
Niels started the session with set-piece work. José Baxter took the corners, sending several good deliveries into the box. Max Simons got on the end of one and headed it into the net.
"Max-y, lethal!" Thiago shouted.
Max laughed but quickly got ready for the next ball.
