Chapter 61: Marching for Glory
Sunday, March 14, 2010
Crawley Town were in good form after beating Rochdale 2–0. The win took them to 63 points and kept them fourth in League Two, just two points behind third place. Promotion was becoming a real possibility.
Their next league game was against Aldershot Town at the Recreation Ground on March 20. The FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham United was also coming up on March 29, but for now, Niels wanted everyone focused on Aldershot. They had already beaten Burnley in the cup, but there was no point thinking about West Ham yet.
The players had a light recovery session at the training ground on Sunday. Most of them were still feeling the effects of the Rochdale game.
Max Simons was among them. The Crawley captain had scored both goals against Rochdale, first with a header and then with a good finish. He was stretching with the rest of the team when Thiago called out to him.
"Max-y, you broke their keeper!"
Max laughed.
