Chapter 95: Rumors and Realities
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
The next morning, Niels walked to the training ground. It was cold, and the streets were quieter than they had been during the parade.
He kept thinking about Sunday. The fans had filled the streets, Max had lifted the FA Cup, and Luka had spent most of the parade dancing on top of the bus. It still felt strange to think that Crawley had actually won it.
Then Niels remembered the contract meeting.
Crawley wanted him to stay, but Barnsley and Nottingham Forest had also made offers. He still hadn't decided what to do.
His phone kept going off in his pocket.
By lunchtime, the story had spread everywhere.
Newspapers were running stories about Niels and his future. The Sun had the headline, "Niels Wanted by Europe!" while the Daily Mail claimed that several clubs were watching him.
Sky Sports was talking about him too. The presenters mentioned Barnsley and Nottingham Forest and started speculating about clubs outside England.
