Chapter 97: One More Season
Thursday, May 20, 2010
The next morning, the weather in Crawley had changed completely. The rain was gone and the sun was out. At around 9 a.m., Crawley Town FC released a statement confirming that Niels would stay on as Head Coach for the 2010/11 season.
"Crawley Town FC is thrilled to confirm that Niels will remain as Head Coach for the 2010/11 season, with full control over tactics, transfers, and youth development. The journey continues. #NielsStaying"
The news spread around the town within minutes, and the reaction was mostly positive.
Twitter was still fairly new in 2010, but Crawley supporters quickly filled it with messages about Niels staying. Fans posted pictures of Broadfield Stadium and old clips from the FA Cup run, including Max's Wembley goal. Local radio stations also received plenty of calls from supporters who wanted to talk about the news.
