Diana stood there, her throat dry. She knew that once he saw the letter, he would know everything…every single thing. He would know what she did with Raphel. He would know that she was the mother of King Raphel's son, Vrazen.
She knew she had been wrong for doing this. A queen was meant to lead by example, and yet she had done the one thing a queen should never do. It was a taboo in their kingdom, yet she did it anyway. She had planned to tell him one day, but this was not how she imagined he would find out.
Not only would the people of Eltones see it as a disgrace, she would be marked as the worst queen. She might even be sent to prison for her deeds. She would be forced to step down from the throne and compelled to confess the root of the matter, to the very end.
