[Declan]
I let go of Nanisca's hand the instant Dylan's words sunk into my head. For a moment, I was caught up between leading Nanisca out of Dylan's bedroom and obeying Dylan's order.
Slowly, the urge to rescue Nanisca gave way for the need to adhere to Dylan, and I did. Whatever force was leading me to do Nanisca's bidding stopped at Dylan's order.
I turned a confused look at Nanisca's direction, suddenly not sure what made me come in here in the first place, or why I had considered rescuing her. I remembered leaving Dylan's room some hours ago in search of Nanisca, and how I had planned on dealing ruthlessly with her for attempting to poison Avira's food.
I had no idea how everything changed, or how I stopped thinking about making her suffer to think about rescuing her. But I knew it was the pact. It had to be it.
