I followed rather reluctantly behind Declan while he led the way to the throne room. It was empty when we got there, except for Nanisca and the other servant who were bound heavily against each other, and placed in a corner of the room.
Declan, obviously not wanting to go close to Nanisca, stood at the far end of the hall which was empty now, leaving me with no other choice than to stay in a position that would place me at a fair distance from both of them.
He had confessed to entering a pact with Nanisca, and even though I didn't know everything it meant, I knew it was not good. It explained why he had mercilessly whipped me with the whip that had thorns, and why he didn't do anything when he caught Nanisca trying to disfigure my face. It also explained why Nanisca had the other servants under her but it did not stop me from hating on him.
