I saw Nanisca cut through the crowd just as Alpha Magnus was being wheeled away, and I knew she was coming to me, and to gloat. Alpha Magnus had stated his intention to take Nanisca as his mate, and even though I did not act like it, I was thrown off guard.
Why Nanisca?
Anyone else would have been great. Anyone but her. I could already see her making my life as hellish as she can.
"Hello Luna," she called in mock devotion when she got to me. Declan had leaned closer to me, and Dylan too, which was a relief. It was strange that neither of them had done anything to stop their father, or tried to talk him out of his sudden madness.
I smiled back at her, concealing my dissatisfaction and disappointment behind the smile. Even though I feared for my well-being, I must not let Nanisca know it or suspect it for a second.
