As Kakashi fully disappeared into dust, none of the Avengers could believe that Kakashi Hatake had died.
Their leader, who always seemed invincible, had been erased right in front of their eyes. The fine gray particles that had once been their friend and teammate slowly settled on the floor like fallen ashes.
For a long moment, no one moved or spoke. It felt as if time itself had stopped. The man who had led them through impossible battles, who had brought hope from another reality, and who had protected so many lives was suddenly gone.
Clint shouted in rage, "Nooo!" His voice echoed through the damaged floor of the Avengers Tower. Tears streamed down his face as memories flooded his mind.
He remembered the time how he and Kakashi did missions together when Kakashi had joined SHIELD. Those early days were filled with quiet trust and teamwork. He remembered the time Kakashi visited his family and played with his kids by showing them simple jutsus.
The children had laughed with pure joy as Kakashi made small illusions of animals or created gentle sparks of lightning in his hand.
Clint remembered the time Kakashi was in rage after seeing Loki controlling him, and how fiercely Kakashi had fought to free him. He remembered Kakashi teaching him chakra and jutsus with patience. He remembered bringing him a gift in the form of Howard the Duck so that he would never be without backup.
The archer fell to his knees, his bow dropping from his hands. "You cannot be gone. You still owe me ramen,the food of the gods, you masked idiot. We were supposed to have more missions together." His shoulders shook with heavy sobs as the pain of losing a true friend hit him hard.
Blonsky and Creel remembered how they were just hired mercenaries but Kakashi had changed their lives and had allowed them another chance.
A chance to become heroes rather than villains. Blonsky stood frozen, his large hands clenched tightly. He thought about the respect Kakashi had shown him even when others saw him as a monster after he turned to Abomination.
Creel had tears pouring down his face. "Boss... you gave me a home. You believed in me when no one else did."
Tony remembered Kakashi as someone of a magic man who could do impossible things. The genius inventor stared at the empty space where Kakashi had stood. "This is not how it ends. Not for you, Kakashi. You were supposed to be the one constant in all this madness."
His usual sarcasm was gone, replaced by genuine pain.
Cap knew Kakashi as the modern symbol of hope for the people. Steve Rogers gripped his shield tightly, his jaw set in grief. The super soldier felt the weight of leadership falling back on him, but it felt wrong without Kakashi by his side.
Natasha remembered Kakashi as a silent man who had a big effect on her life. And she would not like to admit it but he might have let her feel emotions which the Red Room might have taken out of her, which she did not think was possible.
Tears slipped down her cheeks silently. "Kakashi... you made me believe I could be more than just a weapon. Come back."
All the Avengers looked in rage at Malekith who just nonchalantly looked at them as if he had just erased an ant from existence.
The Dark Elf king stood tall with the red energy of the Aether swirling around him. Natasha in rage infused chakra into bullets and fired. Clint fired chakra enhanced arrows.
Tony fired repulsor blasts from his suit. But the energy whips were faster than the attacks and intercepted them, turning even those attacks into dust. Before the Avengers could regain their composure, they heard the sound of chirping of thousands of birds which they all recognised.
Kakashi appeared behind Malekith and slammed a Chidori through his chest. "Chidori." The lightning screamed as it pierced the Dark Elf's body with powerful force.
"Kakashi!! Boss!!" Natasha, Clint, and Creel shouted in relief. Their voices mixed with joy and disbelief as they saw their leader standing once again.
"I knew that bastard is too difficult to die," Tony said through his suit. His voice carried both amazement and happiness.
The energy whips around Malekith again attacked Kakashi and he again turned to dust but appeared again in front of him, slamming another Chidori in his abdomen.
As the blood flowed out of his wounds, Malekith used the Aether to heal himself quickly. The red energy closed the holes in his body within seconds.
"How are you doing this? How can you survive the impossible power of Aether?" Malekith asked with clear confusion and anger in his voice.
"Well, even... I am still processing this," Kakashi said nonchalantly. But inside his mind was already putting the pieces together.
He knew that he was using Izanagi. He remembered Izanagi is a forbidden Uchiha clan dojutsu that bridges illusion and reality. It allows the user to turn undesirable events, including fatal injuries and death, into mere illusions.
While active, the user can literally rewrite fate and choose the best possible outcome for a battle. His right eye slowly closed, signifying that he might lose his Sharingan.
But Kakashi knew better. The Izanagi Stone had the essence of the Izanagi goddess of the Shinto gods which his Mangekyou had absorbed. The stone itself found the trigger from the power of the Reality Stone.
Izanagi was his new Mangekyou ability along with another one in his other eye. He instantly knew about the name of the ability after awakening it and how it is used. 'For 2 minutes his eye would allow him to alter reality and come back from death but after 2 minutes his Sharingan would not be usable for 10 minutes but after that he could again use it. So I do not have to worry about losing my Sharingan after using this jutsu,' Kakashi thought.
The ability was incredibly powerful but had clear limits that he would need to manage carefully in the ongoing battle.
He was more surprised that he awakened this power just a second before literally dying. 'Is this the plot armor that Master Jiraiya told about in his books?' Kakashi thought.
