The steam had begun to thin.
What remained drifted in soft threads that dissolved near the high windows. The bathwater had cooled, moving only when one of them shifted.
The scent of sex and soap still hung in the air, quieter now, like something that had already begun to settle into memory.
Minato stood between the two women. Kushina's forehead rested against the side of his neck.
Fubuki's cheek was pressed to his shoulder.
Neither spoke for a long time. The sharp sounds of earlier pleasure had given way to the small, ordinary noises of three people simply existing in the same space—the slow pull of breath, the quiet drip of water from the edge of the bath onto stone.
Kushina was the first to move.
She drew back just enough to look at him. Her blue eyes were softer than they had been all morning, heavy with something quieter. A faint, tired smile touched her mouth.
She brushed a damp strand of red hair from her face, then let her fingers rest against his chest, right over his heartbeat.
"You always do this," she said, voice low. "You give so much that afterward it feels like the world has gone quiet."
Minato's hand moved slowly up her back, tracing the line of her spine.
"Is that a complaint?"
"No." Kushina shook her head once. The smile remained, small and real. "It's the opposite. I just… feel it more than usual today." She glanced sideways at Fubuki, who still had not lifted her head from his shoulder. "Both of us do, I think."
Fubuki finally raised her face. Her dark eyes were calm, almost contemplative. There was no residual coyness left in her expression—only a clear, steady openness.
"I keep waiting for the moment when it starts to feel ordinary," she said quietly. "When the wanting settles into something smaller. But it hasn't. Not yet." She looked at Kushina, then back at Minato.
"Even after everything this morning… I still feel it. The same pull."
Kushina's fingers curled slightly against his chest.
"That's what scares me a little," she admitted. The words were honest, not dramatic. "Not the sharing. I've made peace with that. It's how easily we both keep choosing it. How natural it feels to want you at the same time, in the same ways." She exhaled slowly. "I used to think love had to be narrower than this. I was wrong."
Minato was silent for a moment, taking in what both women had offered him. His thumbs moved in slow arcs against their skin—one at the small of Kushina's back, one along the curve of Fubuki's waist. There was no urgency in the touch. Only presence.
"I don't take it lightly," he said at last. His voice was quieter than usual, stripped of the command it had carried while he had been inside them.
"Either of you. What you give me. What you allow between the three of us." He looked at Kushina first.
"You're my wife. That doesn't change because of anyone else." Then he turned his gaze to Fubuki. "And you… you chose to stay. Every time. That matters."
Fubuki's eyes softened further. She leaned in and pressed a brief, closed-mouth kiss to the side of his jaw.
"I know it matters. That's why I keep staying."
Kushina shifted closer again, resting her head more fully against him. Her voice came out almost drowsy.
"I like the quiet after. When everything is finished and there's nothing left to prove. Just this." Her hand slid down until her fingers loosely laced with Fubuki's against his stomach, a small, unthinking gesture of connection between the two women. "It feels honest."
They remained like that for several minutes longer. No one reached for towels. No one mentioned the council or the paperwork or the fact that the day had already slipped well past morning.
Eventually Fubuki spoke again, softer than before.
"When we leave this room… it will go back to the way it is outside. Titles. Duties. Distance." She tilted her head just enough to meet Minato's eyes. "But I want you to know that what happens in here stays with me. Even when I'm standing in some formal hall or answering someone else's questions. The feeling doesn't disappear."
Kushina made a quiet sound of agreement.
"Same. I carry it." She lifted her head and looked at both of them in turn. "I don't need it to be louder than this. I just need it to be real. And it is."
Minato's arms tightened briefly around both of them. He pressed a slow kiss into Kushina's hair, then turned and did the same to Fubuki's temple.
The gestures were simple. Final, in the way that small things sometimes are when a long intensity has burned itself out.
"Then we keep it real," he said.
"Outside the room as well. As much as the world allows."
Neither woman asked for more promises. They did not need them.
After a while longer, the three of them finally moved. Towels were taken from the warmed rack.
They dried each other in unhurried passes. Clothes were gathered without urgency. The earlier wildness had been spent completely; what remained was only the quiet residue of closeness and the knowledge that something between them had settled into a deeper shape.
When they eventually left the bath chamber, the corridor outside felt cooler and more ordinary. Kushina walked on Minato's right, Fubuki on his left.
Their hands did not touch in public, but the space between their bodies remained small, as if the memory of the morning still occupied the air around them.
The rest of the castle waited—reports, decisions, other people, other needs.
But the three of them carried the aftermath with them: the softness after intensity, the honesty that had been spoken without performance, and the quiet certainty that what they had shared was not finished simply because the physical part of it had ended for now.
It had only changed form.
