Chapter 222 - Chapter 222: The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze

In another room,

Shindai and Orochimaru sat across from each other at a table.

Shindai lowered his head slightly, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

He had promised to help clean up but never got the chance.

Orochimaru couldn't bear to watch him fumble with the task and stopped him from continuing.

Looking at Shindai before him, Orochimaru spoke, "Don't waste time with small talk—just tell me what you want."

Shindai let out a hesitant "Uhh…" before beginning to explain his findings and ideas.

As he listened to Shindai's explanation, Orochimaru's expression showed genuine interest.

Orochimaru shared his thoughts, "It seems we're thinking along the same lines. I believe that every object in this world, from the smallest fundamental particles to the largest celestial bodies, possesses a certain degree of magnetism.

I believe this planet generates a massive magnetic field, and all living beings on it are constantly influenced by the geomagnetic field. The geomagnetic field has become an indispensable environmental element for maintaining normal biological activities.

Changes in magnetic fields can generate electric fields, and together they form electromagnetic fields. You could use your *Kekkei Genkai* to control the positive and negative charges within them. If your hypothesis proves valid, the potential of your Magnet Release *Kekkei Genkai* would be immeasurable, no longer limited to basic techniques like manipulating iron sand through simple magnetism.

However, this isn't the main focus of my research, so the support I can provide will be limited—you'll have to carry out most of the experiments yourself."

Shindai requested earnestly, "Absolutely, absolutely—but Orochimaru-sama, I don't have access to a laboratory or equipment. Could you…support me just a little?"

Without hesitation, Orochimaru agreed, "Fine. You may use any equipment you need. But I have only one requirement."

Hearing Orochimaru's agreement, Shindai's face lit up with a bright smile. "Thank you, Orochimaru-sama! Not just one requirement—even ten wouldn't be a problem!"

Orochimaru raised an eyebrow suggestively. "Oh? Since you put it that way, make it ten requirements then."

Instantly, Shindai's smile faded. He was just exaggerating—why did Orochimaru take him seriously? After all, he was usually quiet and reserved when alone.

With no way out, Shindai managed to reply, "Alright, Orochimaru-sama, please go ahead."

Orochimaru articulated each word deliberately, "From the moment you step into this experimental facility—and this applies to the entire Science Division in the future—you're forbidden from uttering unnecessary words unrelated to research!"

Shindai inwardly frowned. Was he really that talkative? That must be why Orochimaru added that rule.

Orochimaru continued, stating his second condition, "You may use the experimental equipment freely, but you must not damage any of it. Put everything back in its proper place after use. If something breaks, you fix it yourself—if you can't fix it, figure out another solution on your own."

"Third rule: Do not disturb me while I'm conducting experiments."

"For now, these are the only three rules. The rest—seven more—will follow. I may issue additional rules at any time. If you fail to follow them, you might face consequences, or even be banned from the experimental facility altogether."

Shindai pouted and replied, "Okay."

Orochimaru rose from his seat. "I think you don't need my introduction to use the equipment here. Feel free to explore on your own. Just remember to close the door and keep the noise down when doing experiments. I'll continue with my research now. These rules take effect immediately—pay attention to them."

After Orochimaru left the room, Shindai began wandering around the research base.

He had to admit, the equipment here was indeed comprehensive, though he didn't know what they did yet. So instead of rushing into experiments, Shindai first focused on studying the equipment to determine which could aid his research.

Time passed quickly, and three days slipped by.

Today was the day Minato Namikaze would assume office.

Outside the Hokage Building, crowds had gathered. Nearly everyone in Konoha had come out to witness the change in leadership.

Shindai, Pakura, and Obito stood among the crowd, looking toward the roof of the Hokage Building.

The ceremony had already begun.

Opposite Minato Namikaze stood Hiruzen Sarutobi, Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Tsunade, Kushina Uzumaki, and the clan heads of various ninja families.

However, Danzo wasn't present. It was almost a relief that he wasn't here to cause trouble—being forced to witness Minato's inauguration would have been worse than death for him anyway.

Jiraiya smiled like he'd won the lottery.

His disciple becoming Hokage brought tremendous honor to him as the mentor.

Kushina Uzumaki beamed with pride. She was going to marry such an amazing man!

Koharu Utatane reminded everyone, "It's about time, Hiruzen. Let's proceed with the Hokage succession ceremony."

Hiruzen nodded. He solemnly removed his hat of the Hokage, holding it with both hands. With a serious expression, he walked toward Minato Namikaze.

"I entrust Konoha to you now, the Fourth."

Minato Namikaze accepted the hat of the Hokage with both hands, placing it on his head before solemnly declaring, "Leave everything to me, the Third! For Konoha, I will give my life!"

Minato Namikaze approached the edge of the rooftop terrace of the Hokage Building. Removing his hat, he announced, "I am the Fourth Hokage! From this day forward, I shall lead Konoha!"

The crowd erupted into cheers.

...

After becoming Hokage, Minato found himself overwhelmed with work, leaving home early every morning and returning late at night.

Shindai, just like Minato, also spent every day working early and returning late, fully immersed in the research base.

Kushina Uzumaki bonded with Pakura.

Kushina Uzumaki sighed, "After Minato became Hokage, he's been incredibly busy. I can only see him late at night now."

Pakura comforted her, "Since he just took office as Hokage, things are naturally going to be hectic. It should calm down a bit after some time."

Kushina Uzumaki asked curiously, "Come to think of it, where has Shindai been lately? I haven't seen him around either these days."

Pakura helplessly replied, "He's been at the research base almost every day. Even when he comes home, he keeps muttering to himself about something, acting peculiar. But since he's been like this since childhood, it's actually quite normal."

Kushina Uzumaki rested her chin in her hand and muttered to herself, "I wonder when Minato will finish being so busy."

Meanwhile, inside the Hokage Building office.

Minato Namikaze, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Nonou Yakushi were having a conversation.

Since Minato Namikaze had just become Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi was temporarily assisting him to get familiar with the administrative procedures of the Hokage position.

The topic of their discussion was about a charity event.

Minato strongly supported the orphanage project and was now discussing the details.
