UK:GSW Chapter 398 – Uchiha Hikari is Discovered
The story seemed to have shifted focus again.
Although Darkened Obito had been taken down, under the manipulations of that schemer Black Zetsu, Nagato had once again assumed the role of the final boss. In terms of raw power, the healthy "plus" version of Nagato was unquestionably stronger than Darkened Obito.
Even Darkened Obito with transplanted Rinnegan could not compare to the current Nagato.
When it came to mastery, development, and proficiency with the Rinnegan, even its original owner—Uchiha Madara—might not surpass Nagato.
This wasn't an exaggeration, but a statement of fact. Nagato had possessed the Rinnegan for decades—twenty years from its awakening until his death—spending those years tirelessly honing and applying its abilities.
Especially after becoming crippled, he relied solely on the Rinnegan's power to control the Six Paths of Pain, a necessity that forced his mastery to grow continually.
Uchiha Madara, though the true owner of those eyes, had awakened them only near the end of his life. His aged body could not withstand their strain, so he secretly transplanted them into Nagato.
Thus, while Madara understood the Rinnegan's capabilities, he never reached Nagato's level of operational skill.
In the Second World, Nagato now stood as the most powerful shinobi—save for the hidden Ōtsutsuki. Only an Ōtsutsuki stepping forward could possibly defeat him.
Even the current Naruto Uzumaki could not beat him one-on-one. Nagato, like Darkened Obito in the original timeline, had turned captured jinchūriki into Paths of Pain.
Though Naruto was a perfect jinchūriki, even in the original events he could only fight Darkened Obito with his comrades' help—let alone face the present, healthy Nagato.
In single combat, healthy Nagato was the undisputed strongest shinobi in the open world.
Of course, war wasn't decided by duels. While the Second World's Nagato was formidable, taking him down wouldn't be too difficult—Second World Konoha's top fighters alone could do it without help from the Main World.
After all, this Konoha had not yet endured the Pain Assault. Elder Jiraiya still lived, Naruto had already become a perfect jinchūriki, and his intelligence had soared. Compared to the original, they were far stronger.
If Nagato tried attacking Konoha as in the original story, he would likely be crushed.
In fact, after Nagato's attack on the Hidden Cloud Village and his capture of the Eight-Tails jinchūriki Killer B was reported, Second World Konoha immediately took action—tightening village defenses, reinforcing the police force, and requesting aid from Main World Konoha.
They even asked that Naruto remain in the Main World until Nagato was dealt with—to prevent him from being captured and completing Akatsuki's collection of tailed beasts.
This revealed that Second World Konoha had no idea Nagato's capture attempt had actually failed—Killer B and Gyūki had escaped by severing a tentacle and creating a clone decoy. Both they and the Hidden Cloud still believed Akatsuki had captured every jinchūriki except Naruto.
At Uchiha Kei's insistence, the Main World refused to keep Naruto back—fighting Akatsuki was his own decision.
However, they agreed to the request for aid. A large number of elite shinobi, led by Minato Namikaze himself, would travel to the Second World. Even Hashirama Senju would take the field.
Their aim was to capture the Second World's Black Zetsu and end Akatsuki's threat once and for all—clearing the way to fully develop the Second Shinobi World.
In fact, deployment of the Genjutsu Network in the Second World had already begun. After placing enough floating base stations in the Main World sky, materials from the Sky Ninja Village's airborne city were left over.
After keeping sufficient reserves for research and emergencies, the rest were converted into floating base stations and deployed in the Second World.
Using a fixed-position mental network signal generator drawn from the system, Uchiha Kei successfully bridged the Genjutsu Network to the Second World's base stations—achieving localized coverage.
Just like in the Main World, these floating stations could also serve as satellites.
Meanwhile, loyalist White Zetsu under Kei's command began searching for the Second World's Sky Ninja Village remnants.
Unlike the Main World, this world had already gone through the movie's events. The Sky Ninja remnants had been destroyed, their airborne city and the Zero-Tails annihilated—wreckage scattered through the wilderness.
Kei's goal was to collect these remains and hand them to Orochimaru for repair and modification, to see if they could produce more floating base stations.
If that failed, they would have to wait for Orochimaru's team to manufacture the necessary materials for entirely new stations.
Mass production was impossible for now, so each had to be made by hand.
Fortunately, Sasori's puppet technology had just made a breakthrough—puppets could handle the material crafting without tying up top scientists' precious time.
Still, even with puppets, the process would take time. For now, salvaging relics was fastest.
Indeed, the White Zetsu had already recovered some remains, now undergoing conversion into base stations. Soon, most of the Second World could be covertly covered by the Genjutsu Network—though full coverage would take longer.
For now, this was more than enough to counter Nagato and Black Zetsu. Second World Konoha and surrounding areas were already under full surveillance—floating base stations' cameras operating 24/7. If Nagato appeared, they'd be spotted instantly, preventing a Pain-style surprise attack.
With everything in place, Main World Konoha quietly dispatched forces to the Second World, ready to give Nagato and Black Zetsu a nasty surprise.
But just as everyone waited for the ambush, new intel arrived.
The Second World's White Zetsu had made a discovery—an unexpected result from one of Kei's special search orders.
Among his assignments for this Boruto-era-possible world, Kei had tasked them with finding anything Boruto-related—Kara, the monk Jigen, and even Uchiha Hikari, a character from a Naruto video game created by original author Kishimoto at the request of the game company.
And that was what they had found—Uchiha Hikari.
For now, she was known as Uchiha Nameless.
Though born from a game tie-in and containing lore that clashed with the manga, Hikari was still technically an "original" Kishimoto character.
Her Mangekyō Sharingan held both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi—not from her own awakening nor from transplanting another's eyes, but gifted by other Uchiha during the Warring States Period.
Despite the clan's famed unity and reverence for strength, she was treated as a weapon, stripped of her given name, and called "Nameless" instead of Uchiha Hikari.
Her "Yasakani no Magatama" Mangekyō ability was immensely powerful. The Uchiha trained her to enhance their own dojutsu, but her growing might made them fearful. Eventually, the Senju, allied with other clans, sealed her away.
She would remain sealed until the Boruto era, when a villain would awaken her to overthrow the shinobi world—only for her to meet Boruto, be moved by his sincerity, and ultimately sacrifice herself for him.
That was the "canon" game story—full of time travel and world-threatening stakes that resolved neatly in shōnen fashion. But reality would not be so tidy.
Now that Hikari had been discovered early, Kei had no intention of letting the Boruto plotline happen.
After hearing the details from White Zetsu, he ordered them to bring her to the Main World to deal with the matter directly.
She was sealed in a coffin buried deep underground, protected by powerful energy seals. For others, this was nearly impossible to locate—but for burrowing experts like White Zetsu, it was simple.
When Kei saw the coffin, it was still damp with fresh soil, its seal radiating formidable power.
He turned to the person he had called to assist—Uzumaki Kikyo. She examined it and confirmed: the sealing was mainly Senju work, with contributions from other clans, including the Uzumaki. It kept the prisoner alive indefinitely while holding her fast.
Kikyo frowned. "Strange… If the Senju of the Warring States era could seal this Uchiha girl, they could have killed her. Why seal her instead of just ending her?"
Kei shrugged. "Maybe their leader back then was as kind as the First Hokage."
It was yet another contradiction with the original manga, where the Senju and Uchiha were mortal enemies—locked in constant bloody war, save for the exceptional bond between Hashirama and Madara.
Given they could field the force to capture and seal her, killing should have been trivial. Yet they not only spared her but preserved her life.
Hearing Kei's comment, Kikyo thought it over and nodded. "Maybe."
With no better explanation, she began undoing the seal.
As the restraints dissolved, the coffin aged and crumbled away—revealing a sleeping girl with long black hair like Madara's, dressed in the Uchiha's ancient black garb. Shackles bound her ankles, bandages wrapped her feet and calves.
She looked about twelve or thirteen, thin and malnourished, her skin poor from hardship.
In truth, Kikyo's check revealed she was fifteen, her stunted growth a result of malnutrition and the Warring States' brutal conditions.
Kei was surprised at first, then remembered how wretched life was in the shinobi world's feudal poverty.
Sighing, he told Kikyo to wake her—everything else could wait.
Soon, Hikari awoke. There was no weakness from her long sealing—just a brief moment of confusion before her eyes focused on the scene.
Then she activated her Sharingan, radiating hostility.
"Uzumaki clan!" she spat.
And without hesitation, she attacked Kikyo.
