UK:GSW Chapter 399 – Uchiha Hikari's Confusion and First Life Experience

Uchiha Hikari attacked.

Uchiha Hikari was subdued.

Without a doubt, Uchiha Hikari was very strong — mainly because the Mangekyō Sharingan she possessed was extremely powerful, and she had even transplanted the abilities of other Mangekyō as well. One could say this was Kishimoto's personal decree: the strongest Mangekyō Sharingan in history, in the "classic" sense of numbers being pulled out of thin air.

However, that didn't mean Uchiha Hikari herself was strong in all respects.

Although she was also an excellent shinobi and her strength wasn't weak, at best she was only at the level of a special Jonin. Without the Mangekyō, even an average Jonin could easily defeat her one-on-one.

And in such a situation, when Uchiha Hikari faced Uzumaki Kikyo — a member of the Uzumaki Clan whose strength had long since reached a high level, whose bloodline abilities were fully awakened — what threat could her sneak attack pose?

What's more, Uchiha Kei had already told Kikyo about Uchiha Hikari beforehand, so Kikyo was well aware of the other party's aggressive nature.

Thus, Adamantine Sealing Chains directly bound Uchiha Hikari completely, even sealing her Sharingan so that her eyes could only appear as ordinary black irises.

Bound and thrown to the ground, Uchiha Hikari struggled fiercely for a moment, her face filled with anger and unwillingness. She glared hatefully at Kikyo, then fixed her gaze on Uchiha Kei, questioning him sharply:

"When did the Uchiha join forces with the Uzumaki Clan?"

When she said this, the hatred and loathing contained in her tone spilled out completely, to the point where one could almost feel a phantom pain on the skin.

Moreover, when mentioning the two clans, her voice turned cold when speaking of the Uchiha, carrying a kind of suppressed hatred taken to the extreme — as if the Uchiha were her greatest enemy.

And in fact, this was indeed the case. As an Uchiha herself, Uchiha Hikari harbored deep hatred toward the Uchiha Clan because of the way they had treated her purely as a tool. For someone as emotionally sensitive as an Uchiha, this was undoubtedly torture — something utterly unacceptable.

Especially in that era, the Uchiha Clan even stripped her of her original name, calling her only "Nameless." This was something she could never accept, for "Hikari" was the name given to her by her parents — the only proof left in the world that they had existed. Yet the Uchiha of that time had even taken that tiny remnant away from her.

Thus, her hatred toward the Uchiha Clan was natural. Her greatest enemies were not the Senju Clan or other shinobi clans who had sealed her, but the Uchiha themselves. If given the chance, she would not hesitate to annihilate them.

However, in that era, the Uchiha had left many restraints on her to keep her under control, leaving her with nothing but impotent rage toward them.

For example, even now, though she hated Uchiha Kei to the extreme, she could only suppress her inner fury and hatred, knowing she could not escape the Uchiha Clan's control.

Yet Uchiha Hikari was overthinking it — the restraints placed on her body had been removed when she was sealed away.

Moreover, Uchiha Kei had never intended to control her in the first place. He said directly:

"Don't be so agitated. The Uchiha who wronged you no longer exist. Even their descendants have been wiped out. And now, the world you knew is hundreds of years in the past. The Warring States Period that lasted for a thousand years has already ended."

"Also, the world you are in now is not the same as the one you came from. The Uchiha here are completely different from those in your memories. At the very least, in this world, the Uchiha Clan never turned a girl named Uchiha Hikari into a tool or weapon."

"Therefore, you don't need to hold hostility toward me or the other Uchiha of this world."

Hearing this, an expression of shock appeared on Uchiha Hikari's face — one that resembled a feminized version of Uchiha Madara's features — followed by disbelief. After all, it was simply too absurd.

Without further words, Uchiha Kei signaled Kikyo to release Uchiha Hikari and told her to follow.

Once freed, Uchiha Hikari instinctively tensed and thought about attacking. But after a brief hesitation, she followed Uchiha Kei and the smiling, friendly Uzumaki Kikyo out of the room.

What greeted her eyes next was a Hidden Leaf Village completely unlike the Warring States era she knew. Its beautiful, prosperous, and modern scenery overwhelmed her vision, her mind, and her understanding of the world. Her eyes widened in disbelief — it was like a country bumpkin stepping into a grand palace, leaving her brain in total confusion, unable to process what she saw.

After that, Kikyo enthusiastically led Uchiha Hikari around, introducing everything about the Hidden Leaf Village of the main world. She also explained her own and Uchiha Kei's identities, as well as many other matters, including the situation of traveling between worlds.

These were all things Uchiha Kei had said could be told to Uchiha Hikari, and Kikyo relayed them faithfully.

When she learned she had slept for hundreds of years — that everything she once knew had been overturned, even the world itself changed — Uchiha Hikari's face showed a confused expression, as if she had suddenly lost her life's goal, unsure of what to do or where to go.

After all, she once had a goal, however extreme — to destroy the Uchiha Clan.

But now, the Uchiha she knew, the ones who caused her pain, were gone. The clan was gone. Even the world was different.

It made everything she had once clung to seem like a joke — meaningless and void.

Thus, Uchiha Hikari was utterly lost.

In the "original" story, when the main antagonist unsealed Uchiha Hikari and she learned she had arrived in the future shinobi world, she was also confused — even though, in that case, the world itself hadn't changed.

The main antagonist then took the opportunity to manipulate her, shifting her hatred and pain toward the entire shinobi world, thus starting her on a path of revenge against it.

Of course, in the end, that revenge failed — stories must end as they should.

Now, however, Uchiha Kei, who was prepared for this, smiled and said:

"Hikari, just as I said before, the world has changed, and everything you hated is long gone. From today, welcome your rebirth — start a brand new life!"

"Here, no one will treat you as a tool, and no one will see you as a weapon. You just need to live the life you want."

Hearing this, Uchiha Hikari fell silent for a while before lowering her head and murmuring:

"So… can I use the name my parents gave me again?"

Uchiha Kei nodded.

"Of course. Kikyo and I have always called you by that name, haven't we?"

After a pause, he added,

"To be honest, 'Nameless' sounds pretty cool if it's for style points — but only if it's voluntary. If someone forcibly changed my name to 'Nameless,' I'd make sure those people knew what a lifelong nightmare truly was."

At this, Uchiha Hikari looked up at him in surprise, a strange emotion flashing in her eyes before she lowered her head again, saying nothing — her feelings clearly complicated.

Thus, she didn't notice the subtle glance Kikyo gave Uchiha Kei at that moment.

It was obvious Hikari thought Kei's words meant he would slaughter those Uchiha with cruelty to instill fear in them.

But Kikyo, who knew Uchiha Kei well, understood that he wasn't someone who enjoyed killing. In fact, compared to other shinobi, the number of people he had killed was small — one could even call him "kind."

However, when it came to tormenting people, Uchiha Kei surpassed everyone.

Needless to say, his "Large Intestine Taste Bud Technique" was a great equalizer — feared by all, with no one willing to face him in battle. When he spoke of making someone's life a nightmare, it obviously meant using that technique — and certainly the enhanced, permanent version — leaving an unerasable psychological scar.

Of course, Kikyo didn't say this aloud. She knew that if Hikari stayed and spent more time with everyone, she would one day understand what Kei meant.

After this, Kikyo wanted to take Hikari on a proper tour of the village, but Hikari refused.

Having received so much information and facing a completely new life, she just wanted to think — to reflect on her future and find her life's meaning. In less poetic terms, she needed time for her brain to process everything.

Kei and Kikyo had no objection. They brought her back and let her rest in a room prepared for her.

Soon, Hikari was captivated by everything in that room.

It was a classic "girly" bedroom — predominantly pink, filled with cuteness everywhere. Though not large, it had everything one could need — a classic arrangement.

For someone used to this, it was nothing worth noticing — too "ordinary."

But for Uchiha Hikari, it was completely different. She had never experienced the life of a normal girl, not even when her parents were alive.

After all, it was the Warring States Period then — the Uchiha fought constantly for survival. Everything was functional and simple, with rooms typically bare except for ninja tools and weapons.

For example, Hikari's former living quarters were a simple, windowless enclosed room, with even the door as a cage — all to keep her confined.

After all, when one is treated as a mere tool and weapon, who would bother giving them a comfortable place to live?

Thus, when she saw that her room was so warm and cute — even luxurious by her standards — she couldn't take her eyes off it.

Yes, a classic setup… but for Hikari, it was luxury. For someone who once had nothing, even a small bit of sunlight could feel endlessly warm.

Clearly, Uchiha Kei understood her circumstances — this was deliberate.

Not out of malice, but simply because he felt she deserved a good life. So he made it so.

After a while, Hikari cautiously walked to the bed and picked up a chibi Nine-Tails plush placed there. The soft, fluffy texture made her pause, then instinctively hug it tightly.

Taking a deep breath, she inhaled its scent, feeling a little dazed.

"So warm… so soft… the smell… it's special…"

And then, the girl simply spaced out.

Everything today was unforgettable for her — like a dream.

No, in fact, she began to wonder if she was dreaming, and all she'd experienced was just a strange dream.

And then, while she was still lost in that dreamlike state, a knock came at the door, breaking the illusion.

It was a rhythmic yet light and polite knock — a sign of goodwill from whoever was outside.

At first, Hikari's muscles instinctively tensed, like a startled cat ready to fight.

This was the conditioned reflex of countless life-or-death battles and inhuman experiences — the pain and fear left by war, a sign of PTSD.

But soon, realizing her current situation, she relaxed. After a brief hesitation, she stepped forward and opened the door.

There stood Kikyo, holding a tray filled with things Hikari had never seen before — a full "otaku meal set" of food and drinks provided by the system.

Under Hikari's confused gaze, Kikyo smiled and asked to come in. Though Hikari hesitated, she agreed. Kikyo entered, set the tray on the table, explained what everything was, and poured a glass of cola for her to try.

Hikari stared at the strange, bubbling black liquid with great hesitation. In her mind, something of that color could only be poison.

So, instinctively, she resisted drinking it.

Just then, the door was knocked again. Turning her head, Hikari saw Uchiha Kei standing outside, holding a glass bottle filled with the same liquid — cola.

To her shock, Kei opened the cap, tilted his head back, and drank a large gulp, savoring it.

Her eyes widened slightly, and she looked back at the cup in her hand.

After a brief pause, she finally chose to take a small sip.

In that instant, a door to a new world opened. For a girl whose life had only known bitterness, she realized for the first time that something so delicious could exist in this world.
