UK:GSW Chapter 409 – Nagato Gives Up, Standing on the Moral High Ground to Lecture Him

Along with the effects of the treatment, something even more astonishing happened—Nagato's empty eye sockets suddenly grew new eyes.

And the process wasn't gradual; they simply "refreshed" into existence in an instant. In the real world, it was bizarre enough to make one question whether reality itself was fake.

This surreal sight once again shattered everyone's common sense, and they couldn't help but marvel at Uchiha Kei's Mangekyo Sharingan ability.

Still, given how many unbelievable feats Kei had already shown, they accepted it as only natural, reaching a consensus that no matter how absurd his next achievement was, it wouldn't be surprising.

The only one truly questioning reality was Konan, who was meeting Kei for the first time.

She had only heard of the illusion-based game system but had never experienced it herself, leaving her completely lost. She was no longer wondering if she was dreaming—she was convinced she must be caught in some strange genjutsu, trapped in someone else's illusion.

Konan even began to suspect "Uchiha Madara"—wondering if this was the legendary Infinite Tsukuyomi.

After all, she and Nagato had never accepted the Eye of the Moon Plan, choosing instead to pursue peace in the shinobi world through Nagato's ideals. This meant it was inevitable they would one day clash with a corrupted Obito.

So while the idea of Obito secretly pulling them into the Infinite Tsukuyomi seemed unlikely, it still felt more believable than the absurd, magical reality unfolding before her.

While Konan was in this spiral of disbelief, Nagato—whose health bar had risen to 80%—came to his senses, staring in shock at his own hands.

Regaining his sight, he could now see his surroundings and realized he was still alive.

But hadn't he been at death's door? Now, not only was he in good health, but the improvement far exceeded even his state before being implanted with White Zetsu cells.

What shocked him most was that all the White Zetsu tissue in his body was gone—he had returned to his original, healthy form.

The constant strain from the Rinnegan was gone, and so was the feeling of mismatch between his eyes and body.

However, the unique vision of the Rinnegan was gone as well—his sight was now "blurrier," as though he had reverted to his pre-Rinnegan state.

In truth, Nagato no longer possessed the Rinnegan. The eyes that had grown back were his original eyes.

Observing this, Uchiha Kei rubbed his chin and said:

"So that's how it is… after game datafication, the body reverts to the user's own data. Foreign elements—like White Zetsu tissue—won't be restored."

"And the Rinnegan too—it wasn't his to begin with, so the regeneration only brought back his natural eyes."

"Tch… what a waste."

This was the second reason Kei had removed Nagato's eyes—to test whether his reality-altering ability could restore lost organs and, if so, whether transplanted ones could be duplicated.

For example, if the Rinnegan could be regenerated this way, one Nagato could produce countless pairs.

Though it would subject Nagato to repeated pain, Kei saw no problem—he considered it a great mercy to let a war criminal suffer for the benefit of two worlds.

Unfortunately, reality didn't match the dream—special eyes like the Rinnegan couldn't be duplicated.

Still, Kei thought, the Rinnegan wasn't originally Nagato's. If they could capture its original owner, Uchiha Madara, perhaps the method could work to mass-produce Rinnegan.

And further—once the Ōtsutsuki arrived in the No. 2 world—why not capture them and extract their powerful eyes over and over?

Gōgyō Rinnegan, Tenseigan… all fair game.

After all, such eyes were standard equipment for the Ōtsutsuki. While their abilities in Boruto seemed weaker than the dojutsu of Shippuden, that was simply because Boruto lacked Kishimoto's touch—the setting still made them overpowered.

For now, it was just a theory, to be tested later—perhaps starting with a living, corrupted Obito to see if Kamui Mangekyo could be mass-produced.

If that worked, the boost in power for their side would be huge, with potential applications beyond combat—like boosting productivity.

And most importantly, it would mean that Uchiha who had awakened Mangekyo in the Main World wouldn't have to transplant others' eyes to reach Eternal Mangekyo—they could simply "regenerate" their own.

For example, one of Kei's wives, Uchiha Naori, had awakened her Mangekyo two months ago. But as a standard Mangekyo user, she couldn't use it freely—she had to constantly carry system-made cola to restore mental and ocular stamina, avoiding vision loss.

If datafication could allow Mangekyo to regenerate, Naori could get her Eternal Mangekyo immediately.

That was Kei's train of thought—whether it would work remained to be seen.

For now, the test had failed: no Rinnegan regeneration, no White Zetsu tissue. Nagato was simply himself as a member of the Uzumaki clan.

Even so, his strength was still Kage-level—but from "super-Kage gatekeeper" down to a standard Kage.

Not that it mattered—Nagato was under full control and wasn't about to be let loose after recovery.

It was time for the aftermath.

Nagato and Konan were taken to the Main World for questioning.

Black Zetsu, naturally, was left to researchers like Orochimaru—only they could study him safely.

Dangerous to leave him with a "mad scientist"? Kei scoffed—such fears came from Hollywood stereotypes or America's history of unethical experiments on its own citizens.

In truth, real scientific research required strict safety protocols. Kei had ensured that Orochimaru and the others had received proper education via the learning space—modeled after rigorous, ethics-driven systems.

With that background, Orochimaru's team wouldn't act recklessly. In fact, they had designed multiple containment measures for Black Zetsu, with at least ten different emergency responses in case of escape, plus redundancies to guarantee he'd never break free.

In short, they were taking this seriously.

Kei even considered creating a foundation-style containment facility for dangerous yet research-valuable entities—like the Ōtsutsuki.

For now, Black Zetsu was secure, and Nagato and Konan were fully restrained.

The two were cooperative. Konan had already pledged loyalty; with Nagato healed, she would fulfill her duties and even try to persuade him.

Not that persuasion was necessary—Nagato was already broken. Though alive, he was hollow, listless, and utterly demoralized. He answered every question without resistance, his attitude one of complete resignation.

The experience had crushed him. Losing the Rinnegan had snapped him out of his "I am a god" chuunibyou phase.

In truth, even in the original story, Naruto's talk-no-jutsu had only worked because Nagato had already been defeated in battle. Otherwise, no amount of words would have swayed him.

Here, the blow was even harsher—betrayed and used by Black Zetsu, nearly made into his puppet. It drove home the truth that his "godhood" had been nothing but bluster.

Against the combined forces of No. 2 Konoha, he'd lost. Against the Main World's shinobi—whom he hadn't even fought—he knew he'd fare even worse.

And having personally experienced Kei's reality-altering Mangekyo, the Rinnegan's power now seemed "ordinary" by comparison.

What's more, the Rinnegan was in enemy hands—and Nagato knew full well they could use it to control him if they wished.

So why resist? Why struggle? Better to just cooperate.

Without the Rinnegan, he had no value, and was now just a failed man, content to waste away.

That was his current mindset—he truly saw himself as trash.

After the interrogation revealed why Black Zetsu had approached him, his modifications, and the threat from beyond the shinobi world, Kei decided it was time for some moral suasion.

After all, Nagato was still powerful—a rare, fully-trained Uzumaki. With the right training, he could be a valuable asset.

And Kei had no intention of wasting such a worker—Nagato's long career as an indentured servant was just beginning.

Nagato, still in emo mode, wanted nothing more than to end his failed life.

But Kei sought him out to begin "re-education."

For someone with ideals, ambition, and the noble desire for world peace, Kei had plenty of ways to break him in. In fact, Nagato was the perfect example of "good men deserve to be held at gunpoint."

This meant Kei could use one of his system skills: Standing on the Moral High Ground to Lecture.

The skill's effect was to morally condemn the target, making them feel guilty and self-reflect, sinking into self-doubt. The more inner weakness they had, the stronger the effect; those with unwavering conviction were barely affected.

According to the system, this skill originated from Earth's materialistic, hyper-connected society—where people loved to attack others from a moral high ground, sometimes sparking mass online harassment. To prevent the host from being destabilized by such attacks, the system encouraged preemptively taking the moral high ground to shame the enemy into remorse and apology.

In the shinobi world, though, the skill was usually ineffective—ninjas' morality was… questionable. In this feudal society untouched by Confucian ideals, ethical standards were nothing to rely on.

So Kei rarely used it—those with high morals didn't need it, and those with none didn't care. It was like a great scholar lecturing an illiterate thug.

But against Nagato—a young man with great ideals—it was devastatingly effective.
