UK:GSW Chapter 460 – The Third Great Ninja War to End All Wars, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki Enters the Genjutsu Great World
The Third Great Ninja War in the main world erupted in a sudden and unexpected manner.
However, while the war had been started by an allied force formed by factions outside of the Hidden Leaf's influence, the decision of when it would end was not theirs to make.
Not long after the first wave of the alliance's offensive was repelled, devastating news struck them like a bolt of lightning.
All the jinchūriki—the "nuclear weapons" of their respective factions—had been attacked.
Except for the One-Tails of the Hidden Sand Village, the jinchūriki of the Two-Tails through the Eight-Tails were all assaulted by operatives from the Leaf. They were completely unable to resist and were all captured.
This efficiency far surpassed the Akatsuki's pace in the original timeline when collecting the Tailed Beasts—on par with a direct raid from the Ōtsutsuki clan itself.
That was because the all-star lineup the Leaf deployed crushed the Akatsuki's level by comparison.
The main world Leaf's many powerhouses aside, even the Second Leaf had sent many to help—including the revived Hokage of past generations.
Even Hashirama Senju, a pacifist by nature, chose to give his full support. This war had been started by other forces in an underhanded coalition, and given that the main world Leaf's debt to the Second Leaf could never be fully repaid, they naturally gave their full support.
Even Hamura Ōtsutsuki, younger brother of the Sage of Six Paths, took action.
Though he sighed helplessly at the sight of the war, after systematic study, Hamura understood that only by waging a war to unify the ninja world could true, long-lasting peace and prosperity be achieved.
Thus, even if the other powers hadn't started it, the Leaf would have eventually launched such a war themselves.
Now, the only difference was that the war had simply been brought into reality sooner.
And the Leaf had no intention of ending it quickly. While they could have conquered the entire ninja world in one go—crushing all opposition like rotten wood—that would leave behind too many hidden dangers.
For instance, without enough personnel to govern newly taken territory, they would have to rely on the old powers to help manage it. Once those elements took root under the new ninja world system, they would bring all kinds of harmful influence, requiring even more effort to root out later.
Rather than leaving behind such risks, the Leaf decided to use the war to gradually conquer, govern, and integrate each region in turn.
They planned to spend three years on this, with phased objectives.
What? With the Leaf's current power, the war couldn't possibly last that long? That they could end it in mere days like the Fourth Great Ninja War in the original timeline?
Heh—like I said, the timing of the war's start was decided by those other fools, but the timing of its end was for the Leaf to decide.
Once the war began, they had a just cause. As long as the Leaf refused any offers of ceasefire and maintained a wartime state, this "Third Great Ninja War" could go on in name forever, without pause.
Naturally, the old powers would seek peace eventually. In the face of defeat, finding a "dignified" end was a tradition in the ninja world.
But this time, they were facing the new-era Leaf and the new Land of Fire. They would soon realize that everything they once valued would be worthless in the new age.
As for the difficulty of unifying and integrating the ninja world within five years—there would be challenges, yes, but there would be no shortage of talent.
That was because the Leaf had already implemented large-scale use of learning scrolls under their control, constantly producing talent—not only administrators, but also scientists and skilled workers.
For example, newly established ranches and farms all had specialized training programs so that capable individuals could be put to work quickly.
A robust system of rewards and punishments, along with strict oversight, had been implemented to prevent corruption or abuse.
Safeguards were built into these systems, with many departments monitoring each other.
Even if oversight as a whole decayed, there was still a failsafe—loyal White Zetsu, ever-present and devoid of human selfishness, would act as the ultimate enforcers to ensure there would be no "too far from the throne" situations.
In the foreseeable future, the Leaf's domain would remain clean, efficient, and brimming with ambition.
And with superhuman power, many problems could be solved in extraordinary ways.
Take the captured Tailed Beasts, for example.
Naturally, the Tailed Beasts resisted, as did their jinchūriki hosts.
The Leaf had a mature solution—send all the Tailed Beasts into the Genjutsu World to "enthusiastically and lovingly" interact with the Tailed Beasts of the Second Ninja World, under the leadership of Tamamo-no-Mae as their "big sister." The Leaf didn't even need to get involved personally.
Any jinchūriki who could be recruited were brought in as tools for the Leaf; those who could not were simply executed—the main world Leaf showed no mercy here, nor was there any need to.
For newly conquered lands, Uchiha Kei could summon the heroic spirits of former Kage from those villages to help govern and stabilize them after the war.
While those spirits might refuse to fight against their own villages, they had no objection to managing them afterward—especially when subtly reminded, "You wouldn't want your old village to fall into ruin, would you?"
To the other powers, this war was destined to reshape the entire ninja world. To the current Leaf, it was simply the necessary process for ushering in great reform.
In sheer might, the Leaf was unmatched—both in individual and collective power. The genjutsu network gave them far superior battlefield communication, and White Zetsu gave them total intelligence dominance, making the enemy an open book.
Their economic strength was equally overwhelming. Even during wartime, the Leaf still made profits—only closing game halls and pulling out association members, while keeping trade channels open.
Never overestimate the bottom line of merchants and nobles. Even knowing that trading with the Leaf was aiding the enemy, countless people still did it—because it was simply too profitable.
While commerce—especially imports—was inevitably affected, stable links to the Second Ninja World meant they could simply increase imports from there.
The Second Leaf was delighted by this, as it allowed them to absorb more trade volume and offset trade deficits. The main world's goods were like industrial products being "dumped" on an agricultural country, and while this wasn't the Leaf's intent, the effect was similar. Offsetting that imbalance was a huge boon for the Second Leaf.
By now, the Second Leaf's leadership had developed a strong understanding of commerce and economics—especially after establishing their own genjutsu world, complete with its standard "learning space" for members.
In short, the war barely hindered the main world Leaf and the Land of Fire, but it severely impacted the livelihood and economies of other nations. In the short term, this wasn't disastrous, but in the long run, it would be.
It was under such circumstances that the main world's Akatsuki was approached for a mission.
Having long since sought the Leaf out themselves, Akatsuki was now firmly under their control—not by force, but through shared ideals of peace, in line with the vision of the organization's founders.
Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan had been steadily educated by the Leaf. Though they had not been brought into the Genjutsu Great World, they had learned much in the learning space via scrolls, and after the genjutsu network went online, they could receive education anytime, anywhere.
By now, Akatsuki was a loyal supporter of the Leaf, fully convinced of its justice and legitimacy, and confident it could bring true peace to the ninja world.
When the war began, Akatsuki naturally stood with the Leaf, ready to fight alongside them.
However, the Leaf declined their direct combat assistance—instead sending them to extend their influence across other nations.
They were not to engage the enemy directly, but to infiltrate rural areas and villages, spreading class consciousness and reformist ideas to the grassroots through guerrilla operations behind enemy lines.
In a superhuman world, grassroots rebellion without support achieved nothing but death—but with the Leaf's backing, it was another matter entirely.
In cultivating extraordinary talent, the Leaf outmatched all other nations combined in both quality and quantity.
Thus, the forces Akatsuki developed behind enemy lines could be quietly brought to the Land of Fire for training, or have Leaf specialists sent to them, all under the guise of Akatsuki. This would create genuine grassroots forces that could, when needed, cooperate with the Leaf to launch transformative actions and strike at those nations' power structures.
These trained individuals could also serve as future local administrators in the new ninja world, enabling faster integration.
The main world Leaf had considered every aspect of this war, and all preparations were complete—it was now just a matter of execution.
In a superhuman world, many tasks that were difficult elsewhere were far easier. With enough and sufficiently strong superhumans, the monumental goal of unifying the world became much less daunting.
It wasn't without complexity, but by executing the plan step-by-step, it could be achieved smoothly.
The Leaf's preparations had been too thorough, and the "cheat effects" Uchiha Kei brought were too overwhelming.
And now, the next cheat was about to arrive—targeting Kaguya Ōtsutsuki herself.
Eight months after Hamura Ōtsutsuki had been brought back to the Leaf, all preparations were complete to draw Kaguya's consciousness into the Genjutsu Great World.
Hamura had been instrumental in this, and as a dutiful son, once he experienced the beauty of the Genjutsu Great World, he resolved to bring his sealed mother there for a better life.
To ensure Kaguya couldn't use the Genjutsu Great World as a means of escape, Hamura provided Uchiha Kei with significant help in developing the Rinnegan's abilities.
During this time, Uchiha Kei's mainline mission game releases had reached a new stage—three new games were launched. While none were AAA masterpieces like The Last Ninja, they were all high-quality works that performed well in the massive market, completing another stage of his mainline mission. The next milestone required five million players.
Five million wouldn't be reached quickly—it would take good economic and living conditions in both ninja worlds to achieve.
Even so, the mission reward boosted Uchiha Kei's power again. While his mental network system didn't advance further, the strength of his Rinnegan had now reached the level of the Sage of Six Paths.
With this level of power, he was confident he could draw Kaguya's consciousness into the Genjutsu Great World and keep her from escaping.
Once everything was ready, Uchiha Kei personally accompanied Hamura to the moon. Using Hamura's access, they entered the moon's interior and reached the place where Kaguya was sealed.
Gazing at Kaguya sleeping within her "cocoon," Uchiha Kei studied her with curiosity. Though he had seen her before through White Zetsu's eyes, seeing her directly was a different experience.
Especially with the Rinnegan active—what he saw was completely different from normal sight.
Beside him, Hamura's gaze on his slumbering mother was filled with complex emotions—torn to the extreme.
In the end, all of it turned to acceptance. With a nod to Uchiha Kei, Hamura prepared to cooperate, using genjutsu to pull Kaguya's consciousness into the Genjutsu Great World.
