UK:GSW Chapter 461 – The "Turn Kaguya Ōtsutsuki into a Shut-in" Plan Is a Great Success
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki felt as though she had been dreaming for a very long time.
The dream was so long that she had forgotten time, forgotten space, forgotten everything—until the whole world seemed illusory, unreal, and false.
When… had she entered such a state?
Kaguya sank into thought.
And then, the progenitor of chakra in the ninja world remembered.
It was that day—
The day she was betrayed by the two sons she loved, sealed away by them when they joined forces.
Kaguya could not comprehend why her beloved sons would betray her. All she knew was that they suddenly declared she had done wrong, that she had to stop, that all this tragedy had to end—before attacking her without warning.
Though she was the progenitor of chakra and wielded unimaginable power, her battle experience was sorely lacking. The sudden betrayal of her children struck her deeply, and her love for them meant she could not bring herself to kill them.
Thus, the goddess of the Rabbit, noble princess of the Ōtsutsuki, failed—sealed away by her unfilial sons, becoming the moon of the ninja world, slumbering in outer space.
So painful. So bitter. So sad.
Why? Why had her sons betrayed her? Why would they turn against their mother for the sake of mere mortals? Why?
Hagoromo, Hamura—why did you betray me?
Tears slid silently down her face, and at that moment, her eyes opened instinctively.
After what felt like countless ages, Kaguya suddenly found she could see again—see the things of the world.
Yet everything she saw was strange and unfamiliar.
Why… was she on a vast, unfamiliar grassland?
Why… was she suddenly free?
Why… had she left the seal just like that?
Had Black Zetsu succeeded?
But this feeling was strange—weak, without the slightest trace of her chakra, and lacking the power of the Ten-Tails.
What was going on?
Bewildered, Kaguya glanced down at her hands.
Her pale, slender Ōtsutsuki hands seemed so out of place, so frail—weak in a way she had never experienced before.
At this moment, she looked exactly like the anime's version of her before eating the God Tree's fruit—an anime-original design.
In the original manga, Kaguya appeared in her full Ōtsutsuki form from the very start, with no such "frail period" where mortals could easily kill her.
That anime design even conflicted with Boruto's official side story, which stated Kaguya had ambushed and killed Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. Given Isshiki's power, Kaguya could only have succeeded in her full form, not in the anime's frail human-like version.
Thus, as the main world's manga-accurate Kaguya, she was utterly perplexed by this feeble state. She had never felt so weak—so unfamiliar that she wondered if she were dreaming.
And then, a deep, magnetic male voice spoke.
"Yes, for you, this state is indeed weak—nothing like your peak. That's because this isn't the real world. It's merely a world of genjutsu.
"Your true body is still sealed. Only your consciousness has been brought into this genjutsu world.
"And by the way—your will-made-flesh, your third 'son,' Black Zetsu, has already been dealt with. So you can stop hoping he'll free you from the seal."
At these words, Kaguya turned sharply to look at the speaker—a black-haired young man with a calm smile.
He was Uchiha Kei.
Hamura Ōtsutsuki was not here.
Not because Kei refused him entry, but because the Hyuga clan's founder had chosen not to meet his mother yet.
Facing Kaguya, Hamura's heart was full of guilt and sorrow, along with a strong urge to avoid her. He decided to wait until she had adapted to the genjutsu world and prepared herself mentally before meeting—giving himself time to prepare emotionally as well.
His feelings were so conflicted that he, embarrassed but resolute, entrusted Kei with taking care of his beautiful, naïve, and somewhat sweet-tempered mother.
This left Kei inwardly speechless—half wanting to mock Hamura for avoiding his mother while asking another man to look after her, as if one careless step might lead to gaining a "stepfather."
Of course, that stayed as an inner joke—he still gave the ancestor his due respect.
Thus, Kei now faced Kaguya alone.
She fixed her pure Byakugan on him, absent the Rinne Sharingan on her forehead and the horns of her Ōtsutsuki form. In this state, she was a silver-haired beauty of the highest order—her looks and bearing impeccable, perhaps the most beautiful woman in the history of the Naruto world.
Under that intense gaze, Kei couldn't deny—Kaguya really was stunning. No wonder she ranked in the top five of the series' "vanilla beauty" charts year after year.
Then, Kaguya spoke in a cold yet ethereal voice:
"You… are you a descendant of Hagoromo?"
Kei smiled and nodded, not denying it.
"Yes, Ancestor Kaguya. I am indeed of the bloodline of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths. But that's all—nothing more connects me to him."
Kaguya was silent for a while before asking, "So… Black Zetsu failed? There's no way to free me from the seal?"
Kei nodded—then shook his head. Seeing her confused, almost innocently puzzled expression, he explained:
"Black Zetsu did fail. He can no longer stir up trouble in the ninja world. But freeing you from the seal… that isn't impossible. It just won't be done for now."
Kaguya tilted her head slightly, thinking—and eventually grasped the key point.
"So… in the future, you will free me from the seal?"
Kei nodded.
"When the time is right, yes. But not in the short term. In the meantime, you can live here, in this genjutsu world."
Her serene Byakugan seemed to brighten.
"Truly… you will free me in the future? If that is so, then I will wait here in peace."
With that, she knelt gracefully in the formal style of an ancient island-nation princess—back perfectly straight, posture flawless, clearly capable of holding it for a very long time without discomfort.
Even in the genjutsu world, where the body's data mirrored reality, this was impressive. Even heavily weakened, she was still formidable.
It also made her seem adorably naïve—she simply believed Kei's words and prepared to wait quietly for her release.
Kei was left wordless.
No wonder, he thought, the anime-original story had her fooled by a manipulative man into bearing a child—this Kaguya was truly easy to sway.
But in truth, she had seen that Kei was telling the truth. As Hamura had told Kei long ago, Kaguya could detect lies—so honesty was the only policy.
Kei's words about possibly freeing her one day were genuine, agreed upon with Hamura.
Freeing her outright was impossible—for as the progenitor of chakra, she would immediately seek to reclaim all chakra from the world.
The first step was to make her abandon that extreme course.
The plan was simple: let her experience the joys of this era, and show her that the Ōtsutsuki would no longer pose her the original deadly threat.
The second goal would take time. The first could be achieved quickly.
So Kei used his administrator privileges to build her a modern luxury estate within the genjutsu world.
Kaguya looked puzzled—she didn't understand what he was doing, nor what such a mansion offered.
Kei didn't keep her guessing—like a professional salesman, he introduced all the estate's luxuries.
The mansion's interior alone covered over three thousand square meters, with a gym, entertainment rooms, and an indoor sports hall—a true luxury home.
He led her inside, showing her various facilities, and served her food and drink to sample.
Through the perfect sensory simulation of the genjutsu world, the taste of fine desserts and layered drinks overwhelmed her palate—she had never tasted anything so delicious.
As a noble Ōtsutsuki princess, she came from a culture with no culinary tradition. When she ruled the primitive ninja world, there had been no refined food culture either.
This was the first time she had experienced true gourmet cuisine and drink.
Next, Kei took her to a private theater and played a special-effects blockbuster.
Though the film was fictional, Kaguya was completely absorbed—unable to look away, enraptured even when she didn't fully understand the plot.
Then he brought her to the living room, turned on a hundred-inch TV, and taught her to watch television. Again, she was enthralled, defenseless against such entertainment.
When she finally emerged from the world of TV, Kei took her to the game room, powered up a console, and introduced her to the charm of video games.
These were Earth games—not even genjutsu games yet.
Even so, Kaguya's path to becoming a full-fledged shut-in accelerated rapidly. She became utterly hooked—not pretending, but genuinely captivated.
These were things she simply could not resist.
After a long session, Kei took her to try other activities—skiing, racing, surfing, swimming—anything on land or sea, but nothing airborne.
Flying was basic to Kaguya, so sky-based extreme sports bored her. Land and sea activities, on the other hand, were rare novelties.
By the time she had sampled these, she was ready for something new—perfect timing for the genjutsu world's game mods to go online.
This would let her enter any number of simulated game worlds and live countless different, realistic game lives.
In short, Kaguya's future was set. Becoming a super shut-in was her ultimate destiny.
