"Amir trusts you a lot. What's your name?" Pax asked.
"Mm… Din Djarin." Mando had wanted to stay silent, but after thinking about it, he answered anyway. Ever since he'd said that name once to Amir's group, it kept surfacing in his mind. It wasn't some secret. Saying it again didn't matter.
"Either way, thanks for stepping in to help."
"I'm just doing what I'm paid to do."
Before long, Amir came back carrying an enormous hiking pack. BD-4 was perched on top of it, and Amir had his smaller bag slung across his front.
"Alright, let's move. Where are Obi-Wan and No. 32?"
"They went in first to scout. Let's go too," Pax said. "What'd you bring?"
"You'll see. Let's go," Amir said, leading the way into the sewer entrance.
It was an alloy conduit with a diameter of over two meters. Walking inside wasn't cramped. Only a few scattered small creatures moved about; there were no major obstacles.
Along the way, there were marks carved by Obi-Wan's lightsaber. Whenever they hit a fork, Amir followed the direction Obi-Wan had taken.
At the same time, Amir expanded his Force sense, reading the surrounding currents. He quickly located Obi-Wan's position and couldn't help speeding up.
With BD-4 and lightsabers providing light, the group moved much faster than Obi-Wan had.
"Hello there?" Amir called forward as he approached.
"Heh, over here! Should be the end," Obi-Wan answered.
Ahead was a dead end sealed off by steel.
"Can we confirm what's above us?" Amir asked.
"This is still the outer ring," Pax said. "Deeper inside connects down into the underground depths to draw geothermal power. So up above, closer to the center, should be the power supply room. The perimeter should be pretty empty—no personnel. The risk of going up from here isn't high."
"I'll cut us a hole," Amir said. So in the end, he still couldn't avoid it.
Following the Force-flow, Amir chose a good spot in the conduit. Above should be a small room.
It was just to be safe. In Amir's sensing, there weren't any significant living Force signatures nearby—meaning nobody was posted above. Just a few things that felt like droids.
No hesitation. Amir ignited his lightsaber and slowly traced a circle into the ceiling.
Because the abandoned sewer and the base were tightly connected, with only a light touch the blade cut through more than ten centimeters of alloy plating. The circle completed, a small opening appeared. Amir handed BD-4 up through it.
First, let the little guy scout—while Amir also released the spider droid.
Using his bracer interface, Amir guided the spider droid as it climbed up and began scanning the immediate environment.
"Beep-beep-beep!" Not long after, BD-4 came back from a quick look around.
"Let's go. No patrol droids outside," Amir said. He widened the opening with a larger circle, and they climbed up one by one.
The room was a storage bay for backup power, stacked full of crates. There wasn't even a sealed door—outside, the corridor was visible directly.
The room sat along the edge. The corridor had a wall only on this side; the other side was a railing. Through the railing, they could see a massive power supply apparatus glowing red.
"If we'd just dug straight forward a minute ago and hit that thing… we wouldn't have gotten blown up, right?" Amir said, staring at it.
"It would've detonated. Big blast," Pax said, speaking from experience.
Amir reached into the pack on his back and pulled out a flat, puck-shaped device, slapping it onto the nearby crates—one on each side, two total.
The Mandalorian was the first to notice what Amir was doing. "Are you trying to take us all with you?"
"The detonator's in my hand. We trigger it after we're gone," Amir said quietly.
"You brought a whole pack of explosives?" Obi-Wan said, having caught the exchange.
"Heh. We're already here—might as well leave them a little gift," Amir said, stepping out of the room and starting to toss the pucks toward the central power apparatus.
The pucks had strong adhesion. The moment they touched the structure, they locked on firmly. A faint red blink began—receiving the detonator signal. That blink was also masked by the natural red glow of the apparatus itself. If you didn't look closely, you wouldn't even notice anything was attached.
"How did you get this many charges?!" Pax's eyes lit up. "Give me a few too!"
So Pax grabbed some pucks and started circling the central device with Amir, throwing and sticking them along the structure.
Watching the two of them at work, Obi-Wan's mouth curled into a sly smile. "Let me. I know where the load-bearing points are in designs like this."
Only No. 32 and Din Djarin were left standing there, awkward and unsure what to do. Even BD-4 had gone off to look for a port to slice into.
But both of them were the quiet type. Not talking actually felt more comfortable. So they headed together toward the stairwell.
After planting the charges, Amir grabbed BD-4—still searching everywhere for a connection point—and said, "Stop looking. There isn't one on this level. We need the floor above."
At the same time, the spider droid relayed what it saw upstairs.
"The entrance to the upper level is guarded by droids. What do we do?" Pax asked, finishing his share and coming back.
"If the droids get damaged, they'll notice. We can't go straight up," Amir said. "BD-4, sneak up and find a port. Once you confirm the location, we'll just breach through the wall from below." Amir glanced up at the ceiling.
Pax stared at Amir, stunned. That works? That's… not a route I would've thought of.
BD-4 had excellent execution. It rushed to the stairs and hopped up step by step. The moment it reached the exit, it immediately tucked its head in.
Two bulky black combat droids stood on either side of the passageway, in standby. If anything abnormal crossed their line of sight, they'd activate instantly—turning into terrifying killing machines.
BD-4 slipped past behind their heels, perfectly exploiting its small size. It crept along, scanning rooms one by one, but still couldn't find a data port.
Just then, a scout droid floated into the corridor where BD-4 was.
Startled, BD-4 dove into a nearby room.
The door shut, and in the pitch-black environment, a column of light suddenly snapped on.
BD-4 used its own light to quietly examine the surroundings. A storage room? The dense rows of cabinets were lined with container after container. Looks like there's no port in here. Did that scout droid leave yet? I need to get out—Amir's waiting for me!
"Bright light is forbidden in Dark Storage!" A cold mechanical voice suddenly spoke from behind, frightening BD-4 so badly it jumped—smashing a row of containers and shattering them across the floor.
Σ(°△ °|||)︴Ghost!!!
"Beep-beep—guh-beep!!?"
"Bright light is forbidden in Dark Storage!" The voice repeated.
BD-4 finally saw what was behind it: a modified medical droid.
BD-4 let out a huge internal sigh of relief and quickly shut off its searchlight.
