The guild, managing the repair efforts, and the work to ensure a war game would go off without a hitch, it was obviously going to be incredibly busy. So when Shurry showed up, he wasn't expecting anything, however, that wasn't really the right way to think about it…
Passing through the guild's swinging doors he entered the main open floor of the guild, everything ground to a halt. He sighed internally…
"Luna, is this going to happen everywhere I go now?"
"Probably? Maybe? We did fight and kill a demon god after all."
"I'm going to start limiting my appearances at this rate… I wonder if I can get more deliveries, and hire more chefs to come cook for us… I know I have at least 2 kids on the way, I should make sure their mothers are perfectly healthy. A healthy mother means a healthy milk supply, and that means a healthy child…"
"Are you sure that's all it is? You don't want some of your women's milk?"
"Huh? Maybe a little bit."
"Pfft, you're so cute. There's nothing wrong with it."
"I know… Let's get this stuff sold quickly, and get out of here…"
"Yeah, there's a few aroused women here."
"Only a few? There's dozens…"
Shurry started walking up to the counter, however, someone acted first. It was Rose, she'd gathered all of the required books, binders, and papers then ran out from behind the counter.
"Alpha Shurry, allow me to take care of you over here."
"Pfft, alone? Not when you're redder than usual… Hey Royman…"
The fatty elf came running out, there was no mistaking that voice. And like always he was wiping his brow with that handkerchief of his.
"Sir, hero… Welcome, what does the guild owe the pleasure of your visit to?"
Shurry winced slightly, clearly annoyed by that damn title. He recovered enough to let out a sigh.
"If you want to call me by some kind of title, I'd prefer the epithet the gods gave me this time, or the time before. Alternatively you may use how other werewolves address me, so long as you understand not to go overboard with it."
"But sir hero-"
"No, I don't care what you refer to me as, a hero to others, that's completely fine. But to my face, it feels off. Remember what I said that day before I fought him? I wasn't doing it for anyone aside from myself, my wife, the kid I'll never get to see, and for my familia who'd fought so hard to buy time till I was able to return."
"You did, but that doesn't change the fact you still avenged the deaths of all 562,705 people who'd been killed… And destroyed the evil that had attacked the world-"
"And this is why I'm allowing you the chance to use my epithets instead. Hero title… If I ever get that one bestowed to me, it'll be after a certain creature dies…"
Shurry's expression changed slightly as he looked in the direction the black dragon was. Royman knew what that direction held, and he finally relented.
"Very well then, Champion over Calamity, what can I do for you today?"
"I'd like to exchange these magic stones, I have a lot of them…"
"Huh!? These, again with freaky good quality crystals, let's go and talk in private. Rose, bring all of the updated ledgers."
"I already have them."
"Good."
And so Shurry began the discussion with Royman, coming to a deal on the magic crystals. Rose, was watching as the number she herself had to write, appeared on the page…
"This… It's more money than the city has in circulation."
"Oh, that's not good at all."
Shurry chuckled.
"Say, how easy would it be for you to get this many stones again?"
"Hmm, not too hard, but it would take a little longer than a week in the dungeon."
"Good, Please don't do this again. I really can't afford to do this once, let alone a second time. No other familia is capable of achieving even a fraction of this right now, meaning there's no competition. You could charge whatever price you wanted for those level 8 and 9 magic stones… I can't even think about purchasing anything higher at the moment."
"I see, because they're worth more than the city's funds combined… Well I guess I can just eat them then."
"More like the infrastructure we were able to build back up, was purely to deal with a mass amount of low quality stones. And we increased rewards by 50% for the next 6 months just to drum up more of them." Royman explained. "But processing a level 4 stone is the most we can do in any kind of efficient manner."
"Wow, so I can't sell any of them then?"
"No, I can purchase your level 7 stones, and those below, but anything else we simply don't have the ability to process it, nor the ability to purchase it with our funds."
"Hmm, well alright then, how much valis can I get right away?"
Rose looked at the ledger… And did some mental math, then verified it on an abacus. Shurry waited, sipping the tea he'd been provided, when…
"The guild can afford to give me, and 40 million valis."
"Pfft! I knew you were sexually aroused, but I'm not going to buy you. I refuse to treat my pack members like that."
"Fine, then, 40 million." She said, and then sighed. "Shurry, I want to mate with you. I can't think of a better mate. I don't even care that I won't be first in your heart at this point. Every time I see you, the only thoughts running through my mind are all about the puppies we'd have in the future, with me, and the sisters I'd gain through our union."
"Rose-"
"Royman, I've thought about this for too long, I know I missed the chances I had previously, when he first came here and gave me that expensive fruit." She paused, making fists, and then relaxing. "Even if I'm rejected here, I don't know if I'd be able to live with myself if I didn't try. I'm a werewolf, I should be bolder. I don't want to just have pups, I want to have his pups."
Shurry was left in a not so surprised state. And it was obvious he wasn't that surprised.
"Royman, Rose, this isn't really the place for that kind of conversation…" He said, after a long pause… "Rose, you're a beautiful woman, but you should know just as well, I alone can not answer yes. The only one answer I can give you, while continuing to do right by Ardee, and Neze, is to say no. Though, considering how open Ardee's been to Neze, and now Alfia… There's a chance you could make those dreams happen. Slim, but not zero."
Shurry sighed again and looked up…
"I see, thank you for hearing me out, my alpha." Rose stood up, bowed, tears landing on the table, and then she calmly left the room, tail hanging down, as she went to a separate room, obviously to cry on her own for a moment.
"Sorry about that sir."
"It's fine, it's getting into mating season now anyway, and it's super strong around me now. We value strength in our partners, so she's just thinking about the pups she'll have in the future, she wants them to have a strong father…"
"Alright, I'll have the 40 million valis prepared at once." Royman said, switching gears quickly to avoid any other surprises coming up.
It wasn't much longer before Shurry left the guild, still with a ton of items he was unable to sell to the guild because they were too expensive. And so, they'd be going into the Hathor familia vault for safe keeping…
