Having said my piece, I left Hiashi standing there. Despite everything, I couldn't stick around in Konoha; after all, this village had Might Guy, someone who could kick so hard he shattered time and space itself. I wasn't confident that even the Flying Thunder God ninjutsu would let me escape that.
Hiashi clearly wanted to say something; he even reached a hand out toward me as I jumped away, but in the end, he didn't do anything… he just stood there and watched as I slowly disappeared once more.
I was slightly tempted to use the fact that someone now knew that I was alive to say hello to old friends and family… but it was just a tiny longing.
I had changed much, and not just in body; even my mind had permanently shifted as I unlocked more Yin chakra.
That was, after all, the energy of the mind, of the spirit. It was far beyond a mere hormonal change, and even those could shape personality.
When I told him that Yuki was dead, I was fully serious.
Yuki Hyūga was dead, and she wasn't coming back; not even the Edo Tensei could bring her back.
As for whether or not Hiashi would snitch on me, I wasn't worried; it would bring him no benefits and only place the Hyūga clan in a difficult position. More so, it would let people know that it was possible to escape the Caged Bird Seal.
Even his position as clan head might be called into question; after all, our relationship wasn't a secret. Many might claim that he helped me fake my death, and that he has a secret relationship with a rogue shinobi.
No, he wouldn't tell anyone that bit… that would raise too many questions and hurt far too much, both politically and personally.
People had long since mourned Yuki's death; it was best not to cause those people more grief.
No, it wasn't time to look back at what had been or could have been; instead, everyone should look forward and toward what will be.
And that included meeting up with the two people up ahead, or at least one of them.
Because while I met with Hiashi, my Byakugan allowed me to know of another meeting happening, that between Itachi and the Hokage.
With Itachi giving his final report and getting Hiruzen's assurance that his brother would be well taken care of.
Though since his brother wasn't the last Uchiha alive, things were going to change come morning once the Hyūga clan spread the news of their new wards.
That, however, didn't matter to me; what I cared about was once more catching up with Obito and Itachi before they left, to ensure that Itachi didn't do something foolish like breaking back into Konoha to finish the job.
Obito wouldn't; he needed to stay hidden, but Itachi? He was stupid enough to try something like that.
Better to nip that in the bud before Obito helpfully reminded Itachi that his job wasn't done.
Obito… he was somewhere, but even my eyes couldn't find him while inside his Kamui dimension.
Itachi was, thankfully, much easier to find.
Shortly after leaving Konoha, he had stopped on a branch of one of the larger trees and watched the village one last time before leaving it behind with the identity of a wanted missing-nin.
I came to a halt on the same branch.
Itachi instantly drew his sword and went on guard. "What are you?" his Sharingan flared up, the red light visible under the darkness of night.
"She is an annoyance, is what she is," Obito answered for me as he appeared behind Itachi, his sole visible eye locked on the bone that had extended out of my hand.
"Say the man who once more tried to sneak up on my back," I shot back.
"And you are making that surprisingly hard for a blind woman… few people have sensory skills at your level," he remarked as I once again managed to detect him the moment he tried to appear behind me.
"You are the rogue shinobi known as Kaguya-hime," Itachi said as he finally connected my appearance with his memories of the Bingo Book entries.
"Correct, and I think it is time we all leave Konoha… whether the dead come back to life," I turned my head toward Obito, "or us rogue shinobi, we have nothing to do here." I turned my head back toward Itachi. I didn't have to, but it was a way to let him know I was addressing him.
Itachi, however, didn't agree. He was, after all, deep down, still loyal to the village. "You were the one who killed the Kumo shinobi doing the peace negotiations, weren't you?"
"Correct."
He tightened his grip on his sword. "Why are you doing this?"
"It is curious, isn't it? A mysterious kunoichi of the Kaguya clan, helping out the Hyūga and Uchiha clans of Konoha? Very suspicious," Obito added.
He was no doubt well aware that I wasn't someone from Kiri; after all, he had controlled that village himself. "Didn't even step in to save your own clan… yet spends your time helping others… very curious indeed," he mocked.
Yet beneath it, I knew he was digging; he didn't like the mystery, though it was mere curiosity and a general dislike for someone he had failed to kill twice.
He was still fully confident that he could kill me should things reach that point. And why wouldn't he be? Kamui was broken.
I ignored him, and instead kept my head locked on Itachi. "Why do you care, kinslayer? Why do you care what happens? You who betrayed your family, your clan… your village."
I could see it in his eyes, the pain, the regret, the loss. Yet he was also unable to easily answer my question, because he was indeed playing a role. For Obito's benefit, he had to act like he really had turned against the village, so he could spy on him.
So if he came across as supporting Konoha, wanting to protect the village, that would ruin his plan.
And clearly, between Obito, the mysterious man who claimed to be Madara Uchiha and mercilessly killed people of Konoha, and me, Kaguya-hime, someone who had helped Konoha at least once, even if under strange and suspicious circumstances—
It wasn't hard for Itachi to pick which one he needed to keep an eye on.
Finally, he snorted and placed his blade back in its sheath. "I don't care about the village or the clan, but I'm still curious, what are you doing here?" he fished.
Clearly, he hadn't been informed about what happened; it was likely that the Hokage was only finding out about my actions as we spoke, so Itachi was in the dark.
After all, all that had happened was an explosion within the Uchiha district as he finished his grim mission. He had no time to investigate anything.
"She went around saving a handful of children. She is known for taking care of bloodlines, isn't she? First the two Uzumaki, then the Hyūga incident… and now this?" Obito filled in.
Few would dare to stare into the Sharingan, but given I was wearing a blindfold, Itachi didn't try to use genjutsu, so I could read his emotions as he heard that information.
And what I saw… disappointed me. Even now… he still thought about his mission.
"I will not explain myself to people like you two, who mindlessly slaughter their own blood. You are kinslayers, you are filth… no, you are both worse than filth, so disappear before me," I said, then shot two bone spikes at them.
It was interesting to see that Itachi didn't try to deflect the attack; instead, he dodged it, which caused both spikes to pass through Obito.
It was clearly on purpose, showing that, if possible, he wouldn't mind Obito dying, or at least wanted to see him act so that he could gather more information about him.
"Now, now, there is no reason to get so angry, we are all equal here," Obito said, and took great pleasure in the clear dislike between Itachi and me, since neither of us liked being compared to him.
My response was another bone spike cutting through the air with a sharp hiss.
And once more, it just passed straight through him.
Obito tilted his head, studying me. "So dramatic," he sighed. "And while I would love to teach you a lesson… now sadly isn't the time. Come, Itachi, we have things to do," he said as he started to teleport away, and after half a second of hesitation, Itachi joined him.
As the two were swallowed up by Obito's Kamui, I let out a sigh of relief. Everything had gone about as well as I could have hoped for.
Now… it was just a matter of seeing how the world would react and then waiting for the Akatsuki to come knocking.
Until then, I had plenty left to do.
I reached out and sensed the Flying Thunder God mark left behind by Kanna and Karin, and with a flash, I was gone.
