Arima closed his eyes and said, "Tsunade, come at me!"
Tsunade had already gathered chakra in her legs. Once Arima was ready, she leapt forward, bringing down a crushing kick.
But with Observation Haki active, Arima foresaw both her method and direction of attack. With a simple sidestep and a light push from his legs, he moved outside the range of her strike.
Seeing her first blow fail, Tsunade immediately split into two Shadow Clones, launching a three-pronged assault.
Even so, no matter how the three attacked at once, Arima always found the perfect escape route.
The Tsunades hurled shuriken, hoping the noise would throw off his judgment, but Arima caught the flying projectiles with ease.
'Looks like conventional attacks won't work,' Tsunade thought.
She bit her thumb and began forming hand seals, intending to summon Katsuyu for support. But after completing the seals, she realized she couldn't sense her summon at all.
At that moment, Arima, standing a short distance away, reminded her, "Tsunade, summoning doesn't work in this world.
There's a dimensional barrier between here and the shinobi world. It's almost impossible to summon Katsuyu directly."
Startled, Tsunade asked, "Arima, you knew I was going to use the Summoning Jutsu?"
Arima shrugged. "What can I say? Observation Haki is just that good, I can't help but see it."
Rolling up her sleeves and lifting her spirits, Tsunade declared, "Arima, then I'll use ninjutsu next!"
Before Arima could reply, her hands blurred through seals.
In the blink of an eye, she unleashed Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu. A roaring white dragon surged from her mouth, rushing fiercely at Arima.
The Water Dragon Jutsu was normally complex, but Tobirama had simplified the hand seals.
Following the simple sequence was enough to activate this B-rank Water Style technique.
But Arima had already read the dragon's path and range. He dodged casually, not even a drop of water touching his clothes.
Frustration welled in Tsunade's chest. She stopped her offense at once and pouted, "I give up! Arima, you're bullying me!"
With a dejected expression, she walked to his side, wrapped an arm around his waist, and pressed her face to his chest for comfort.
Her voice carried admiration as she said, "Arima, you're amazing! I never imagined Observation Haki could be this powerful."
Arima gently stroked her golden hair and only smiled without answering.
After a moment of warmth, Tsunade suddenly gave a sly grin. "Ha! Arima, even heroes can't resist a beauty's trap. I've got you now!"
But from a short distance away came Arima's quiet chuckle. "Tsunade, your old tricks still work, huh? If I hadn't kept Observation Haki active, you really might've caught me."
Tsunade looked up, stunned, and realized the one in her arms was a Wood Clone. She had no idea when her brother had slipped away.
For the first time, she truly understood the terrifying precision of Arima's Observation Haki.
In the past, just acting spoiled was enough to make him surrender immediately. But her once unbeatable tactic had completely failed.
With teary eyes, she looked at him, as if saying, Arima, did you drag me out in the middle of the night just to bully me like this?
Arima raised his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright, I know I was wrong. How about this, I'll teach you how to use Haki from now on, okay?"
The corners of Tsunade's lips curled up before she returned to her usual demeanor. She enjoyed his indulgence far too much not to keep playing her part.
Of course, Arima, with Observation Haki still active, could see straight through her little schemes.
But to him, this was just part of their private fun. Naturally, he would keep playing along.
That night, neither of them bothered returning to their cabins on the ship. After all, everything they needed was inside Kamui's space.
At dawn, Nawaki rose early to find his brother in law. He knew Arima had learned something incredible the day before and was eager for his turn.
The night before, just as he was about to rest, his sister had unceremoniously thrown him upstairs to another room.
He hadn't slept well at all. Every time he thought back to the overwhelming aura Arima had released with his Conqueror's Haki, his blood burned.
He longed to awaken it himself, to one day make enemies flee with a single shudder of his body.
But when he knocked on his sister and brother-in-law's door, no one answered. Clearly, they weren't inside.
Just as Nawaki frowned in confusion, Arima stepped out of Kamui space with Tsunade.
Seeing his brother-in-law, Nawaki ran up and grabbed his hand excitedly. "Brother-in-law, I want to learn Haki too!"
Arima laughed. "Of course. After breakfast, I'll teach you all."
He glanced out the window at the spot where the Red Force had anchored, only to find that Shanks and his crew had already sailed away.
Sighing, Arima murmured, "Who knows when I'll see him again…"
By then, the rest of the crew had begun to wake as well. As shinobi, early morning training was already second nature to them.
After breakfast, Arima gathered everyone to share his plan.
"On our way to Kano," he announced, "I'll teach you how to awaken Haki. It's an extraordinary power that will allow you to leap in strength with ease."
Kushina blurted impatiently, "Arima, hurry up already! Last night your Conqueror's Haki nearly knocked me out cold!"
Nawaki nodded eagerly. "I was standing closest when you clashed with Shanks. The soul-crushing pressure almost made me faint on the spot."
Mito, ever composed, chuckled. "The aura Arima released last night had my Nine-Tails cowering all night. No matter how I called, it refused to answer me today!"
Inside her, Kurama fumed. He knew Mito was mocking him, but still, what could he say?
Shanks's Conqueror's Haki hadn't been much of a threat. But Arima's bloodline carried the power of the Otsutsuki. That higher pressure was unbearable.
Apologetically, Arima said, "I just awakened Conqueror's Haki yesterday. I'm not used to controlling it yet. That won't happen again."
And so, their journey to Kano became both a voyage and a training ground for Haki.
Though Arima's medical ninjutsu could heal even the gravest injuries, their bodies still weren't on par with the strongest natives of this world. Mastering Haki proved extremely challenging.
Among them, Tsunade progressed the fastest.
Years with Arima had strengthened her body significantly, and with Haki training, she felt herself drawing ever closer to awakening Wood Release.
Mito came next. With the Nine-Tails' chakra bolstering her, minor injuries and strain barely slowed her down.
But surprisingly, third place belonged to Kushina.
Her Uzumaki vitality combined with Kagura's Mind Eye left her only a step away from awakening Observation Haki, though she still struggled with Armament Haki.
One clear day, sunlight bright and strong, the group trained together on deck, following the methods Shanks had passed on to Arima.
Rubbing her sore shoulders, Kushina complained, "Arima, maybe my body just isn't cut out for this. It feels like something keeps blocking me from awakening Armament Haki!"
At that moment, Acier spoke up to Arima. "There is a method I've heard of for rapidly strengthening the body."
Kushina's eyes lit up as if seeing salvation. "What method?"
Acier replied, "The Marines have many masters of physical arts. Their strength comes from eating!"
"Just eating?" Kushina tilted her head skeptically.
Acier shook his head and explained further.
"I once saw a Marine officer use a technique called Life Return. It allows food to be instantly digested and its energy stored within the body to strengthen it or heal wounds.
Many officers of captain rank and higher learn the Rokushiki, and I suspect this Life Return is closely tied to it."
Hearing this, Arima thought to himself, 'So in the end, it comes down to clashing with the Marines. Looks like I'll have to pay a visit to one of their branches.'
