Chapter 528 - Konoha's Sword Saint [528]

Hearing Hoshiyomi's words, Orochimaru was stunned for a moment, then shook his head:

"But how is that possible? We've never even seen this so-called special chakra—how could we create something like that… Wait.

Don't tell me you've seen this chakra before… from Kuugetsu?"

Seeing Orochimaru's expression, Hoshiyomi's smile grew wider.

Orochimaru was completely right. When they started infusing Yin Release chakra into Shin, Hoshiyomi hadn't made the connection yet.

But when Shin mentioned that suffocating mental pressure, Hoshiyomi suddenly realized it.

Back when he transplanted Hashirama cells into Kuugetsu,

hadn't he witnessed that very type of special chakra?

He had even remarked at the time that the wavelength—or frequency—of that chakra was completely different from his own Yin chakra.

Under normal circumstances, even if someone had seen such a chakra, they would have no way to replicate that unusual frequency.

But Hoshiyomi was anything but normal.

The system-granted Nature Transformation ability allowed him absolute control over the attribute he transformed into.

Meaning: with Hoshiyomi, turning Yin chakra into any shape or form was just a matter of thought.

Altering its waveform was naturally no problem.

Under Orochimaru's amazed gaze, Hoshiyomi once again leaned over Shin and began infusing Yin Release chakra into his three-tomoe Sharingan.

But this time, the frequency of his Yin chakra was completely different from before.

This was Yin chakra deliberately adjusted by Hoshiyomi to mimic the frequency of that special chakra he observed inside Kuugetsu.

He couldn't guarantee a perfect match—

but he was at least 90% sure it was close.

And indeed, once this new Yin chakra entered Shin's eyes, the Sharingan reacted immediately.

Before, when Shin's transplanted three-tomoe encountered ordinary Yin chakra, it resisted it like someone nauseated after overeating fatty braised pork.

But now, when it encountered this altered Yin chakra, it lunged toward it like a starving man discovering a cup of refreshing tea.

The surging pull of chakra into the Sharingan was no different from the initial absorption earlier.

The agitation that had Shin smashing the back of his head against the operating table finally started to subside.

Though he still looked in pain, the murderous urges that had filled his mind faded by more than half.

Under Kabuto and Orochimaru's anxious watch, Shin's body slowly relaxed.

The medical instruments that had been blaring warnings quieted down.

Kabuto looked into Shin's eyes and exclaimed with a smile:

"Lord Hoshiyomi, look—the tomoe that had nearly stopped spinning are rotating again!"

Hoshiyomi focused on Shin's eyes and saw that Kabuto was indeed correct.

The three tomoe were spinning once more—much faster than before—so fast they were already beginning to blur into a new pattern.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, the ocular power inside Shin's Sharingan finally broke through the critical limit, completing its evolution!

The three tomoe merged into a three-pointed fan-shaped emblem,

and the central region turned pitch-black—giving it an oddly profound air.

Unlike Kuugetsu's awakening, there was no explosive surge of chakra, no overwhelming eruption of ocular power.

The evolution felt natural—smoothly crossing the bottleneck between three-tomoe and Mangekyō and entering a new realm.

Shin finally relaxed. His body stopped trembling.

He opened his newly evolved eyes and looked gratefully toward Hoshiyomi:

"Thank you, Lord Hoshiyomi.

What I felt earlier… it was worse than death.

If you hadn't helped me complete the Mangekyō evolution, I truly think I would have gone insane."

Seeing Shin regain clarity, Orochimaru also smiled in relief:

"Shin, how do you feel now?

If you sense any discomfort, you must tell us immediately."

Hearing the father-like concern in Orochimaru's voice, Shin smiled as well:

"Thank you for your concern, Orochimaru-sensei.

I feel very good now.

And… I can clearly sense that these eyes of mine have gained two new abilities."

Shin continued:

"My left eye's ability seems to let me control metal.

I can freely manipulate any metal my left hand has touched.

But… it doesn't seem like the technique is permanent.

My right eye's ability is teleportation.

But it's nowhere near as fast as the Fifth Hokage's Flying Thunder God,

and it can't transport large objects.

It's more like the Heavenly Transfer Technique from Kumogakure that you once mentioned, Orochimaru-sensei.

But my ocular power is still very weak right now, so I can't use either ability easily.

I'll probably need a long time to nurture my ocular power before I can use them freely."

Hearing this, Hoshiyomi's expression turned strange.

Shin's description was completely different from what happened when Kuugetsu and the others awakened their Mangekyō.

When Kuugetsu awakened his Mangekyō, it was like instantly going berserk—

elite jōnin jumping straight to kage-level,

and the abilities of the Mangekyō were immediately usable without difficulty.

They didn't end up like Shin—Mangekyō awakened, but the ocular power was so weak the abilities could barely be used.

Could it be…

the Mangekyō awakened through Yin Release infusion had flaws?

Thinking of this, Hoshiyomi simply asked the question out loud.

Shin, however, seemed confused. He blinked innocently and said:

"But that's really how it feels.

It's like evolving my three-tomoe Sharingan into a Mangekyō used up all of my ocular power.

So right now my ocular power is basically zero.

But ocular power naturally regenerates.

And it's not slow.

I think in about a day, I'll be fully recovered and able to use both abilities normally."

Hoshiyomi stared at him, dumbfounded:

"You're telling me your Mangekyō's ocular power is basically zero?

If a Mangekyō's ocular power is zero… shouldn't you be blind?

And when you recover to full power, how many times do you think you can use your abilities?"

Shin tilted his head in confusion:

"Blind? Why would I be blind?

I can see perfectly clearly.

As for how many times I can use my abilities… I'd guess three to five times?"

Hoshiyomi nearly fell off the operating table.

This artificial Mangekyō was completely different from Kuugetsu's.

How to put it…

It was like leveling up in a game:

other people level up and their mana bar increases AND fully refills.

But his artificial Sharingan—

after leveling up, the mana bar becomes smaller than everyone else's,

and starts from zero.

Sure, it had the advantage of not causing blindness,

but this was still ridiculously unfair!

After thinking for a moment, Hoshiyomi gritted his teeth and asked Shin:

"Do you think if I infuse you with more of that Yin chakra, your eyes can still absorb it?"

Shin nodded silently.

Seeing this, Hoshiyomi took a deep breath and once again gathered Yin Release chakra into his hands.

If he kept recharging this mana bar,

surely it would keep increasing… right?
