Nadi stared at Aiden.
Her crimson eyes were wide, her cheeks flushed, and her long bunny ears trembled above her head. She could hear her own heartbeat, each thump seemingly louder than the last.
*What am I supposed to say?!*
Aiden was still looking at her with that same infuriatingly handsome smile.
He wasn't rushing her. He wasn't demanding an answer. He was simply waiting, as though proposing marriage to someone he had only just met properly was the most ordinary thing in the world.
*How can he look so calm?!*
Nadi's fingers twisted nervously around the fabric of her red-and-white dress.
*He's already married to Aunty. He saved our village. He's powerful, handsome, and kind. And now he's asking me to marry him!*
Her gaze drifted toward Nayomi.
Her aunt was watching her with an encouraging smile, although the blush covering her face suggested that she was still recovering from the earlier embarrassment.
Nadi swallowed.
