In the end, the Green Goblin, currently an AI controlling a Norman clone body, had to face a Spider-Man without the symbiote suit and any high-tech equipment, dressed only in a black suit.
And Peter had to face a Green Goblin who had lost control over the internet and his armor, left only with his glider and various pumpkin bombs.
Both sides had lost all their advantages, leaving only their pure, intrinsic abilities.
Comparatively, Peter might have been at a greater disadvantage, as his Spider-Sense still hadn't returned; the AI Green Goblin was still interfering with his nervous system in an unknown way. And based on raw statistics, Peter without the symbiote suit was undoubtedly inferior to the Green Goblin.
So Peter chose to use his invisibility.
The Green Goblin rubbed his chin. Since his helmet was destroyed and there were no infrared monitoring devices nearby, he couldn't see where the invisible Spider-Man had gone. But there was no doubt that Spider-Man wasn't choosing to flee; after all, the objective was to stop him. Conversely, the Goblin could flee!
If he just ran, wouldn't he have time to prepare an escape plan?
The Green Goblin chuckled, summoned his glider, and sped away on it. But after flying for a few seconds, the Goblin realized the problem.
Wait, why isn't the glider's thrust enough?
The answer was that Peter was also on the glider, or rather, under the glider. Both of them were standing on the same flying apparatus, one on the top side and one on the bottom.
"Spider-Man, get off of me!"
"What? Sorry, I'm already 'off'!" Peter, standing upside down beneath the glider, deactivated his invisibility. As he spoke, he shot webs to latch onto buildings on both sides. As the webs continuously fired, the glider's speed gradually decreased.
The Green Goblin knelt on the glider, looking down. Seeing Spider-Man, he reached out to grab Spider-Man's foot. Peter would never allow that; he jumped nimbly. When he jumped toward the ground, the glider would quickly ascend. When he dropped down using the elasticity of his webbing, the glider would rapidly descend again.
"You can't catch me? You can't catch me! Ah ha!"
The whole scene looked rather comical, but the Green Goblin was genuinely enraged.
Especially when Peter seized the opportunity and stomped down on the back of his hand, the Green Goblin let out a painful cry and quickly retracted his hand.
But soon, seeing his flight speed dropping lower and lower, he came up with an idea. He pulled two pumpkin bombs from the glider, threw them at Spider-Man's webbing, and used the heat to sever the strands. Then, he steered the glider toward the ground.
"Hahahaha, wait to be crushed into a meat paste on the pavement, Spider-Man!"
"Really? You don't need this body of mine anymore?"
The voice came from behind. Of course, the Green Goblin had already anticipated this: if Spider-Man didn't want to be crushed into paste and needed to stop the crash, he had to hide behind the Goblin. Without turning, he elbowed the Spider-Man behind him. When the elbow was caught, he spun around and threw a punch with the other hand. This large glider, with a wingspan exceeding three meters, was large enough for the two of them to have a small boxing match on.
However, the movable space was extremely cramped.
The two quickly and briefly engaged in hand-to-hand combat on the glider. To ensure he wouldn't be knocked down, the AI Green Goblin had set up devices on the glider to directly secure his legs to it. Combined with his robust physique, taking several full-force punches from Peter only made him slightly sway.
Peter ensured he was attacking with all his might. The difference between him and the Green Goblin was like that between a lightweight and a heavyweight boxer. It wasn't impossible for a lightweight to defeat a heavyweight, but not in such a confined space.
And certainly not on a platform set up by the opponent.
The glider's sides automatically ejected two gun barrels, firing upwards. Peter quickly leaped into the air to dodge.
"Seriously? Your glider can fire directly upwards?"
"It fires in all directions, Spider-Man!"
The AI Green Goblin laughed heartily. He understood Spider-Man, and therefore had contingency plans for all his methods of action. Now, if Spider-Man wanted to catch him, he had to keep following him and endure all sorts of attacks.
You're finished, Spider-Man!
Hmm? Why did a golden portal appear in front of him?
The Green Goblin reacted instantly, putting the glider at full throttle and quickly shooting through the portal. Looking at the portal closing right against his back, he didn't want to know what his fate would be if Spider-Man had managed to close the portal a moment sooner.
However, waiting for him on the other side of the portal was Spider-Man, who swung on a web and used the gravitational potential energy to kick the Goblin flying. The Goblin, glider and all, crashed to the ground, tumbling several times. Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, he looked at Spider-Man and couldn't help but burst into hearty laughter.
"What's wrong? Finally gone insane?"
"No, Spider-Man, haven't you noticed?" The Goblin chuckled, looking at the surrounding intersections. "I can control almost the entire network. I have countless Goblin legions. But why haven't I launched a full-scale attack?"
"Because you're an idiot?"
"Because everything needs to appear normal for me to play this game!"
The Green Goblin burst into laughter. Peter noticed the anomaly: all the traffic lights around them had turned green, and cars visible in the distance clearly had no intention of slowing down as they approached the intersection.
"You can choose to save those people, or you can choose to destroy me. Of course, even if this body is destroyed, I'm still in the network..."
The Green Goblin didn't finish. His mouth was covered with webbing, and his entire body was stuck to the wall with more webbing. Then, Spider-Man charged over, completely ignoring the cars, intending only to beat the Green Goblin senseless.
The Green Goblin, completely immobilized by webbing, took punch after punch from Spider-Man, but the attacks still couldn't inflict much damage. The Goblin, however, chose to control the glider, which deployed Adamantium blades and accelerated toward Spider-Man.
Die, Spider-Man! Without your Spider-Sense, you won't be able to dodge this!
The Green Goblin roared in fury within the program. Then, he watched as Spider-Man performed a backflip that passed almost right against the razor-sharp edge of the glider's blade.
Unable to stop in time, the flying glider, along with the blade on its front, plunged into the Goblin's perfect clone body, skewering him.
