The Green Goblin's body was impaled by the blade on his own glider. The blade was part of Norman Osborn's design, and the improvements made by the real Green Goblin, as well as the creation of the AI Green Goblin, utilized true Adamantium—the same material as Wolverine's skeleton, strong enough to pierce the Hulk's skin.
Now, this blade, which he had planned to use to cut Spider-Man in half, had pierced his own body.
"You, you chose..."
"I chose to watch them die? First of all, the traffic lights you modified must have been for the entire New York City, not just this specific intersection, Green Goblin," Peter said, looking at the crossroads. "And I don't need to save anyone. Nothing happened."
The Green Goblin watched the traffic lights at the intersection return to normal. Suddenly realizing something, he spat out a mouthful of blood and looked at Spider-Man.
"Fine, Spider-Man, you've defeated the Green Goblin, but this is only one Green Goblin!"
"Enjoy your victory!"
With that, he laughed, grimacing as he fled the dying body, returning to the network to confront Ultron. The remaining Green Goblin's eyes were clear, like a newborn child, but the wound in his chest was beyond saving.
The clone Green Goblin merely looked at Spider-Man with confusion before gradually losing consciousness. He died, or at least the body controlled by the AI Green Goblin died.
Peter pulled the glider out of the Green Goblin's body, and in doing so, he coincidentally tore out a transplanted bio-prosthetic from the Goblin's heart. After a moment's thought, Peter crushed the prosthetic and felt his Spider-Sense return.
"Maybe Norman has something similar. I need to figure out how he managed to block my Spider-Sense."
Saying this, Peter opened a portal. On the other side was Osborn Industries' laboratory, where Norman Osborn was undergoing experimental treatment to completely eliminate the Green Goblin personality inside his mind.
And Peter felt it was time to intervene.
"I'll leave the AI Green Goblin to Ultron. As for me, I need to deal with the Green Goblin inside Norman's head."
The AI Green Goblin did not immediately confront Ultron, knowing full well that its opponent was dedicating all its resources to erasing his presence from the network. What the AI Green Goblin needed to do now was to redownload his complete backup into a brand-new body and slip away before the Avengers noticed.
Although a body cloned from a rapidly matured Norman Osborn could only last for a few months, and he would lose access to Osborn Industries' resources, as long as he survived, there was hope.
So, he downloaded his consciousness into a new body. The brains of these clones were all implanted with prosthetics so that the AI Green Goblin could return to the network at any time.
But honestly, he hadn't expected them to arrive so quickly.
The moment the culture pod opened, the Green Goblin who stepped out saw a blonde girl carrying a sword. If it was a sword, it was too thick; if it was a door, it was too thin. But in any case, that thing struck the Green Goblin immediately.
It didn't cause any damage.
The young girl looked surprised and took two steps back. Then, a giant figure walked over—one truly shaped like a door, with a body that seemed made of metal. "What's wrong, Snowflake?"
"A clone woke up, and he has no soul. Usually, even a newly born clone has a soul."
Colossus then looked at the clone and, displeased, raised his fist.
A few minutes later, the Green Goblin, who had climbed out again, found Human Torch and Invisible Woman in his other base. He endured a baptism of high heat; although even a pumpkin bomb couldn't damage his skin, the Human Torch cooked him into charcoal.
In the very next second, he was reborn again. Thor, who was smashing the culture pods one hammer blow at a time, saw a living Green Goblin emerge. He clearly recognized him as the enemy he was meant to fight, and he roared, "Die, Troll!"
Mjolnir descended.
"Troll your head! I'm the Green Goblin!"
The clone Green Goblin, cursing under his breath as he crawled out of the culture pod in the next base, saw the Hulk, hands crossed, standing in front of him and staring with narrowed eyes.
"Oh, hey, big guy, we both know what it's like to have an annoying primary personality, right? You hate Bruce Banner, I hate Norman Osborn."
The Green Goblin smiled at the Hulk. "So, how about you let me go kill Norman first before I die?"
"No."
Hulk stared at the Green Goblin and stated his reason for refusal.
"You're too ugly."
In the very next second, the AI Green Goblin could no longer download himself into a new body. He found that his download program had been cracked. Not only that, his opponent was constantly discovering and modifying the data of his hidden bases, causing the clones to die directly inside the culture pods.
He understood that this was the work of the AI who was fighting him in the cyber realm.
[Hello, I am Ultron.]
In the clash of 0s and 1s, the AI Green Goblin "saw" his opponent—an AI that, like him, could think deeply and learn, but was far more rigid and machine-like than he was.
If Spider-Man hadn't used his true identity to trigger a massive calculation drain, his opponent wouldn't have been able to suppress him.
[Your data stream is strange. Based on your past behavior, you are transmitting "anger," but there is a large amount of redundant code in it.]
The AI Green Goblin questioned: [So that's your nature, an AI that doesn't rely on the human brain? You can't understand the human way of thinking, yet you want to understand humanity?]
[I do not need to understand humanity. I have one and only one mission: to assist the Avengers.]
Ultron's data stream was colder, more emotionless, and it swiftly dismantled the AI Green Goblin's presence on the internet: [Compared to me, you have one major flaw, and this flaw dictates your demise.]
[I have a flaw? I am flawless.]
[Your biggest flaw is that your purpose for existence is simply to exist.]
After summarizing this final point, Ultron launched a fierce attack on the AI Green Goblin. The AI Green Goblin's program pondered this question while fighting back and attempting to escape. Eventually, he thought of a solution and was surprised to find that Ultron had not yet cracked the device Norman used to correct multiple personalities.
Then I will download myself into Norman Osborn's brain and completely take over his body!
Ultron waited silently for this process to complete.
[Cleanup complete.]
Ultron's meaning was that the AI Green Goblin's programming logic dictated that as long as there was a path of retreat, he would not fight to the death.
