Peter Parker had compiled a list of things he needed to do, starting with miscellaneous chores. As someone who had never traveled abroad, Peter needed to secure his passport, prepare power adapters, pack toiletries, and put everything into his suitcase.
There were also the same tasks as before his trip to Puerto Rico: tackling crime in New York.
"Guys, bad news."
Amadeus, who had been offline for a long time, finally returned, proving he was a permanent character in this book. He clutched his head in anguish. "Do you know what's about to happen?"
"What?" Harry asked first, then seemed to realize something. "Wait, where have you been all this time?"
"Underground." Amadeus sighed helplessly and began to explain his absence. "Hercules dragged me to the underworld to fight subterranean people and look for some Greek artifact. My God, I really, I really can't take it anymore."
Amadeus had always been an introverted person. The fact that he was complaining this much showed what kind of divine character Hercules was.
"So, why did he pick you?"
The whole mess traced back to the day the Zombie Fantastic Four invaded the main universe. Hercules happened to descend from Olympus to Earth and, passing by, casually killed the Zombie Thing and saved Amadeus.
Then, he noticed that this young man, Amadeus, was very smart—not just smart, but incredibly intelligent—and decided to take him along on his adventures.
Amadeus didn't know the specifics of what Hercules was trying to do. But Hercules said he wanted to gather all the superheroes whose powers stemmed from mythology to form an organization called the Pantheon, dedicated to dealing with various crises originating from myths.
Peter felt he might also be related to this, as Neith, besides being the Weaver of the Web of Destiny, was also registered in Egyptian mythology as the Egyptian weaving goddess and the Weaver of the World.
But that wasn't the most pressing issue right now.
"So, what's the bad news?"
"The bad news is, I might have to miss a lot of classes, including club activities. I have to work with a god, a real, honest-to-goodness god. You know what, guys, I'm not excited at all."
"I just feel tired."
Peter shrugged at this problem. Thor was a loner in the Avengers team; even Hulk had a higher attendance rate than him, so Peter really didn't know what it felt like to work with a god.
Peter just calmly yawned. Harry, having offered a few words of comfort to Amadeus, looked at Peter. "What about you? Any plans before heading to Europe?"
"None. Everything is packed. Aunt May asks me three times a day. Everything's settled except for one thing."
"What thing?"
Peter looked at Harry with resignation. "Dealing with a few New York gangs."
That night, in Hell's Kitchen.
Peter fought alongside the Defenders for a rare occasion. He noticed that the Defenders' numbers had increased. The Punisher hadn't joined the organization, but in addition to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, both Mister Negative, Martin Li, and Cloak and Dagger had joined.
Especially the latter two—he thought they wouldn't choose to become superheroes, but they still ended up on this path.
"Silvermane's people are all here!" Daredevil exclaimed, knocking down a gang member in crude power armor. These guys' exoskeleton equipment had very obvious Chitauri tech elements—undoubtedly, they were beneficiaries of scavenging after the Battle of New York.
"After Willy (Kingpin), we got Tombstone, and now a Silvermane pops up."
Peter, kicking a gang member under the chin, casually asked, "What's this guy's deal?"
"An old-school crime boss who ruled Hell's Kitchen before Kingpin rose to power." Luke Cage, who used to be involved in the streets, was very familiar with the underworld's rules and explained to Peter. "He was caught for tax evasion by the IRS and sent to jail. During that time, his Hell's Kitchen turf was swallowed up by Kingpin. By the time he was released, he didn't have much influence left."
"So, he's planning to take advantage of Kingpin being in prison to regain control of Hell's Kitchen?"
Peter asked, punching a thug flying. "Okay, different question: did Willy not kill him?"
"Fisk didn't look down upon these old relics. Of course, that doesn't mean Fisk's subordinates wouldn't do it. So, before he surfaced recently, everyone thought he was dead."
"Alright, so how did he..."
Peter didn't continue asking because the answer was already obvious.
It was the head of an old man who looked to be in his sixties. The reason to emphasize "head" was because the man seemed to be just a head, mounted on an advanced android body, glaring at the Defenders.
Peter instantly thought of a classic old movie.
"He turned himself into a Robocop?"
"An evil version of Robocop. I don't like it one bit," Mister Negative complained helplessly. Peter scratched his head, looking at Silvermane, who was raising his arms, preparing to open fire. "I hate to say it, but I'm a little hot-tempered lately. I'm worried I might accidentally kill the old man with one punch, so, who wants to take him?"
It seemed no one needed to.
Silvermane, who was about to open fire, didn't get the chance. Something sticky hit his back, and he was subsequently hung upside down in mid-air. Recognizing the familiar move, Peter generally knew the person who arrived was Cindy, but he was very surprised that Cindy would jump down with Black Cat.
Those two weren't exactly close.
When the other female Spider-Hero landed, one of the Defenders whistled.
"Oh, hey, Silk. What's up?"
"Nick Fury wants to see you... Spider-Man." Cindy, adjusting her address in time, explained the situation. "It's about the Europe trip. Black Cat will also be joining this operation."
Peter seemed to grasp something—Europe, Black Cat?
"Is it about the Super-Soldier Serum?"
"Perhaps. Nick Fury said a super-criminal group called the Elementals has appeared in Europe."
Peter paused.
The Elementals—wasn't that the plot of the Spider-Man: Far From Home movie? Wait, which universe was this?
Mysterio was indeed locked up in the Raft, right?
