The Elementals, in the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home, were an organization of villains fabricated by Mysterio. In reality, they were merely illusions generated by Mysterio using drone technology in the MCU universe.
But... Peter didn't think the real Nick Fury would be so foolish as to not see through such things, so there was no doubt that in the 616 universe, the so-called "Elementals" truly existed.
And since even Felicia had joined in, there was no doubt that this would be a particularly important mission.
So Peter followed Cindy to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secret base—which was located in a small warehouse behind a roadside convenience store, containing absolutely nothing, devoid of any high-tech equipment.
Only a black "bald egg" was sitting on a crate of soda.
"Let me guess, the European cultural trip is actually fake, right?"
Peter looked at Fury and immediately voiced his question: "The real purpose is to deal with those Elementals?"
"You're very smart, Spider-Man. That's indeed the case."
"Then why wouldn't S.H.I.E.L.D. approach the local European superhero organizations or just let the Avengers handle it?"
Peter first raised his first query. Regardless of who these Elementals were, they certainly weren't a match for the Avengers. If that was the case, why not just send the Avengers to deal with them?
Nick Fury's answer to this question was as cryptic as ever—saying something that amounted to nothing.
"Whether it's the local European superhero organizations or the Avengers, their presence is too conspicuous. If Spider-Man goes, at least no one will realize there's an issue until your first public appearance."
Peter nodded, reluctantly accepting this explanation. Nick Fury implied this was a secret mission. So Peter asked the next question, one that Nick Fury probably wouldn't answer directly: "In that case, what is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s objective in dealing with the Elementals?"
"That's classified. Just as you Avengers haven't disclosed that list to S.H.I.E.L.D., I won't tell you everything either."
Nick Fury raised an eyebrow, speaking with a hint of sarcasm, but then he returned to the main topic: "But without a doubt, this is still part of the Weapon Upgrading Program's illegal human experimentation, and the Elementals are their latest creation from human testing."
"We have reason to believe that the Cat left more relevant clues in Europe. Even the place where your parents had their accident is in Europe, Spider-Man."
Peter frowned, then asked, "So, do you have any information on the Elementals?"
Nick Fury smiled and handed a report to Peter, whose expression turned grave as he took it.
The Elementals are currently believed by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be products of the Weapon Upgrading Program, and quite possibly one of the most powerful results of the program to date. They are based on the four elements of water, fire, wind, and earth, creating four super-powered individuals.
The first, Hydro-Man Morris Bench, was a former US Navy sailor who was arrested for three counts of felony murder while on leave. He mysteriously disappeared in prison. When he reappeared, he had become Hydro-Man and once attacked a S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse in Venice.
His ability allows him to control water within a certain range, and he can fully transform his body into water, thus becoming immune to physical attacks and gaining super-strong regenerative capabilities.
The second, Molten Man, real name Mark Raxton, was a scientist at the Oscorp laboratory in France. He tried to steal experimental liquid metal to sell to other countries, which resulted in him being exposed to the liquid metal and hospitalized, then mysteriously disappearing. When he reappeared, he had become Molten Man.
His ability is to become a living magma, able to release terrifying heat comparable to molten rock, and his body turns into a fluid state. He possesses the sturdiness of metal for skin and the dreadful temperature of molten metal, and can also absorb and release fire.
The third, Cyclone, real name David Cannon, is a mutant. As a mutant, his ability was to create a cyclone through his own super-speed rotation. He was once a robber, defeated and imprisoned by Ant-Man Hank Pym. He later disappeared during a prison break sweep.
He has also been reinforced and modified. His entire body has become a cyclone, a changing and unpredictable air current, with the ability to create storms, control air currents, and even the weather.
The last one, representing the element of earth, is Sandman, real name unknown, once went by the alias Flint Marko. He is a retired soldier from the French Foreign Legion, and because he was a mercenary, it is unknown when he was modified, but when he reappeared, he was already Sandman.
Sandman can control sand through his will. He can also convert part or all of his body into a sandy substance. Sandman can alter his body's composition and density, transforming into fine grains of sand or hard sandstone, which makes him immune to all physical attacks.
"That's all the information we've gathered in Europe. To be honest, we can't definitively confirm that these four are a group, as they've never appeared together. However, the modifications they've received are so similar that any normal person would see a problem."
Fury said this, watching Peter finish reading the profiles of all the opponents, and then told him, "These are your enemies. Since this is a school trip, you, Agent Silk, and the Cat's daughter Black Cat, are responsible for dealing with them."
"Alright, honestly, I'm still wondering why it's me fighting them. None of these people fit the Spider-Man style."
Peter complained helplessly a couple of times, then saw Nick Fury take out another item—a new Spider-Man suit.
It wasn't exactly fresh.
"To ensure the secrecy of this operation, we need to keep your identity confidential for as long as possible. So, I've prepared a brand-new suit for you to guarantee the element of surprise in the mission."
Peter was stunned for a few seconds before suddenly realizing something incredibly absurd.
This suit wouldn't be...
Peter took the new suit, shook it out, and confirmed that it was indeed the Night Monkey suit, and his face instantly darkened.
"Um, this suit was specifically prepared to keep my identity secret, right?"
"That's right, Spider-Man. You're welcome."
"What I mean is, the gloves on this suit are all fingerless. Are you suggesting I leave my fingerprints everywhere?"
Nick Fury froze for a moment, looked at the suit, his expression solidifying for a while, and then he reached out to take the suit back.
"That's... an issue with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s temporary staff. We will make a more suitable stealth suit, Spider-Man."
