Beerus sat in silence, utterly bewildered. After less than a year of slumber, a Dragon God had suddenly appeared in his Universe.
He didn't understand how or why this had happened. Knowledge of the Dragon God Zalama was limited to the Angels and Grand Zeno himself. Until today, Beerus had no idea that such a being once dared to challenge the supreme ruler of all existence.
Though Zalama's ultimate fate had been erasure, his power had been undeniable. Even imagining such might made Beerus uneasy.
He knew all too well that he could not resist Grand Zeno in any way. If Zeno ever wished to erase the Seventh Universe, Beerus could only kneel and accept his fate.
So when he heard that Chiga had also been acknowledged as a Dragon God, his gaze toward him changed completely.
Another godlike being I can't afford to offend… and I actually fought him before?
The thought made Beerus break into a nervous sweat.
Reflecting on the chaos of the day, he leaned toward Whis and muttered, "Whis, with so many major events happening, why didn't you wake me sooner? Were you planning to let me sleep until I died?"
Whis cast him a sidelong glance, his expression calm. "Lord Beerus, you were the one who insisted on challenging Uchiha Chiga, the Dragon God. You lost so decisively that you fell into a deep sleep. I couldn't wake you even if I tried."
Today, Chiga's status as Dragon God had been officially recognized by Grand Zeno and the Grand Minister.
In divine hierarchy, a Dragon God ranked far above the Angels, meaning Whis could no longer address Chiga by name casually.
Beerus froze, his ears drooping slightly. "He wasn't that terrifying back then. I still had a chance to fight…"
Whis didn't spare his pride. "With all due respect, Lord Beerus, if Champa-san hadn't stepped in, you'd still be unconscious."
"Whis, you're really insufferable sometimes!"
But despite Beerus's outburst, Whis's mood was light. With Chiga's emergence, the Seventh Universe was truly safe. Grand Zeno wouldn't risk a battle against a Dragon God, especially not one powerful enough to rival the twilight of the divine realm itself.
If war broke out, Vados and Marcarita would likely side with Chiga, and the Grand Minister would never allow his daughters to perish in a meaningless clash.
Meanwhile, Zeno's two royal guards wiped sweat from their foreheads. They knew just how terrifying the Dragon God's power was—after all, their predecessors had fallen during that ancient divine war.
If they had actually attacked Chiga moments ago, the result would have been catastrophic.
Fortunately, Chiga had ignored them. In the past, those guards might have been formidable adversaries, but ever since his ascension as Dragon God, the only ones comparable to him were the Grand Minister and Zeno himself.
As for Grand Zeno, he didn't seem troubled by Chiga's presence at all. Having existed for countless eons, Zeno simply disliked unnecessary trouble.
He saw no ambition in Chiga—nothing like the overreaching hunger that once defined Zalama.
That lack of ambition made Zeno strangely content. The two highest deities came to a silent understanding: coexistence.
Still, the Grand Minister's earlier comment caught Chiga's attention—his mention that a part of Zalama's body might still exist.
"Tell me," Chiga asked, "is Zalamas body truly dangerous? Could he be reborn from even a small piece of flesh?"
The Grand Minister's gaze turned serious. "That is uncertain. His most troublesome ability was consumption, and his body carries that same trait. If even a fragment of him remains, it could one day absorb enough energy to resurrect him."
Chiga frowned. "Then couldn't you use the Dragon Balls to locate it?"
The Grand Minister shook his head. "We've tried. That remnant somehow blocks the Dragon Balls' detection. We wasted a wish trying."
Curious, Chiga attempted to search with his own power—but just as the Grand Minister said, no trace appeared.
He sighed and dismissed the matter. "It's only a piece of flesh. Even if it retains his power of consumption, how much could it absorb? If it grows too greedy, it'll expose itself and be annihilated long before it revives."
He spoke with calm certainty, unconcerned.
As the two conversed, the Grand Minister's eyes drifted toward Vados and Marcarita, who stood silently beside Chiga. A faint smile crossed his lips.
"Vados, Marcarita," he said, "do you two wish to change your positions?"
Both Angels froze.
The Grand Minister knew his daughters well. He could see their true intentions clearly—neither wanted to return to their assigned Universes. Just moments ago, both had risked defying Zeno's royal guards for Chiga's sake. Even a fool could read their hearts.
Marcarita's eyes brightened, but before she could speak, Vados tugged her sleeve in warning.
Marcarita looked confused. Why is Vados hesitating? She's wanted this even more than I have.
In truth, Vados feared her father's tone. She suspected he might be testing them, so she waited to gauge his intent.
When neither sister spoke, the Grand Minister raised an eyebrow. "What? Do you still wish to return? If so, you should leave early. You've been away long enough."
Marcarita panicked and burst out, "No! I want to stay here! Father, please—just say what you mean!"
Seeing her resolve, Vados stopped holding back. "I feel the same, Father. I wish to remain."
The Grand Minister didn't answer immediately. Instead, he turned toward Chiga.
"Chiga, since you have replaced Zalama as the Dragon God, it is fitting that you have your own divine attendants—much like Grand Zeno's royal guards."
Without giving Chiga time to respond, he continued, "Vados and Marcarita shall serve as your divine servants."
Chiga's eyes flicked toward Zeno's guards. Both stiffened, refusing to meet his gaze.
Inwardly, they groaned, Please don't involve us in this again… we're just doing our jobs!
Vados and Marcarita exchanged shocked looks. Neither had expected their father to make such an arrangement—but beneath the surprise was unmistakable joy.
The Grand Minister smiled faintly. "Why are you two silent? Do you disagree?"
The sisters quickly straightened and exclaimed in unison, "We agree!"
