Eden stared at him. He didn't understand what he meant by that, but he listened to get more information anyway.
"I..." Elvis hesitated. "I've been confused for a while now. I've been asking myself a lot of questions about it. But I think I'm still confused."
"Confused about what?" Eden asked.
"You."
Eden stiffened. "Me?"
Elvis now looked up at him. Their eyes met in the yellowish light.
Elvis continued. "Right now I still don't know how to explain it in the most polished manner. But if I want to tell you, I guess I'll have to try."
He still had his eyes on Eden, tender and moving. "Maybe because you were the first person who actually did come to my rescue? I don't know. But the moment you stood before my dad and everyone and protected me... everything felt different."
"It was a first for me. The first time someone thought I actually mattered. The first time someone felt I actually mattered. It was the first time someone chose me first over anything."
