Leo/Ryn
The portal opened in front of the royal palace. Everyone started walking out, and the moment Ryn's feet touched the ground, the sound of crying reached him.
It sounded broken, painful, making his chest tighten.
Families of those who had lost their children gathered at the entrance of the royal palace with the bodies by their sides.
Some knelt on the steps, clutching their bodies, while others leaned against one another, shaking as they cried. A few stared blankly at the bodies.
Ryn's breath stilled, and he was frozen on the spot for a moment. He looked around slowly, taking in each grieving face. Their tears, their shaking shoulders, and the choked whispers. He felt it all like it was his own pain, and the weight of it settled heavily in his chest until he could barely breathe.
