Chapter 354 - When Command Is Tested

The Calamity-class Beast was indeed very strong.

That much was beyond doubt.

But strength had always been relative.

To the Monster Federation as it stood now, the Calamity-class Beast was an overwhelming existence. A disaster incarnate. A threat that could wipe out entire forces if mishandled.

Yet in Milim's eyes, it barely registered as a problem.

Something that could be taken care of with a standard Drago Buster.

Because of that, Emiya Shirou held absolute confidence in the outcome of this battle.

"This battle is meant to train your coordination," Emiya Shirou said calmly. "I hope you can grow from it and gain stronger power."

His gaze shifted to the red-haired oni kneeling before him.

"I'll leave the overall command to you, Benimaru."

There was no hesitation in his tone.

"When the battle begins, aside from me, Rimuru, and Milim, you may freely deploy everyone else."

He paused.

"Show me your strength as a commanding general."

"Yes!"

Benimaru dropped fully to one knee, his posture rigid and respectful.

"Your humble servant will certainly demonstrate our strength!"

"Then I'll leave it to you," Rimuru said as he stepped forward.

He patted Benimaru on the shoulder, his expression relaxed, reassuring.

"You've got this."

Rimuru then turned toward Emiya Shirou.

"So... we're just going to watch from the side?"

"Indeed," Emiya Shirou replied. "But not from the side."

He lifted one hand.

Golden light unfolded in the air.

In the next moment, a massive golden airship materialized before them, its form elegant and imposing, hovering silently above the ground.

"Let's watch from the sky."

"Oh! What's that!?"

Milim's eyes sparkled as she leaned forward, her excitement immediate and unrestrained.

At the same time, Benimaru and the others cast puzzled looks toward the floating construct.

"You really haven't seen this before," Emiya Shirou said, sounding mildly amused.

He thought back for a moment.

The last time he had projected it was when they returned from the Dwarf Kingdom. Back then, Benimaru and the others hadn't joined yet. Milim hadn't arrived either.

Naturally, none of them had seen it.

"This is one of Shirou's collections," Rimuru said casually. "A flying airship."

With that explanation, Rimuru stepped aboard first and gestured for the others to follow.

Soon, everyone was on deck, wandering around with barely concealed curiosity.

"This is amazing!"

Milim sprinted across the deck, circling the ship multiple times without slowing down.

Only after several laps did the excitement finally settle.

"This is so much fun!"

"All right," Emiya Shirou said, clapping his hands once. "You've seen enough. Go prepare for battle."

His expression sharpened.

"The Calamity-class Beast is approaching."

"Yes!"

"Assemble!"

At Benimaru's command, the executives who had been exploring the Vimana instantly leapt down from the ship.

Though their curiosity toward the flying machine was far from satisfied, the orders of their two lords took absolute priority.

In moments, the deck was cleared.

Only Emiya Shirou, Rimuru, Milim, Shuna, Treyni, and the Elen trio remained aboard.

As for little Rimuru and little Emiya, they had already been pressed into service by Benimaru and sent down to join the fight.

"Since they're ready," Rimuru said, "let's go."

"Activate."

At Emiya Shirou's command, the Vimana let out a low rumble.

Then it rose smoothly into the air, climbing higher and higher until the battlefield below came fully into view.

"Oh, this really is interesting!"

Milim leaned over the edge, peering down with undisguised fascination.

"I thought you could already fly," Emiya Shirou said. "Why the surprise?"

"Flying myself and riding this are totally different," Milim replied immediately.

Rimuru nodded.

"I get it," he said. "It feels different."

"Exactly!" Milim pointed excitedly. "Flying alone isn't nearly as fun as this!"

She turned sharply toward Emiya Shirou.

"Shirou, I want one."

"Haha," Emiya Shirou laughed, waving a hand. "Even if you say that, I can't just give you one."

Though he understood Vimana's structure perfectly, that didn't mean he could simply recreate it.

Many of the techniques involved were long lost.

Or rather, had never truly existed as a reproducible lineage to begin with.

Still.

"No... maybe I can," Emiya Shirou muttered, a thought suddenly surfacing.

"What I want isn't Vimana itself. Just a flying airship."

He considered it briefly.

"With my magical knowledge, and with the Great Sage's cooperation... something similar might be possible."

The idea lingered for only a moment.

Then he dismissed it.

Now wasn't the time.

"The Calamity-class Beast is here."

His tone shifted.

In the distance, the massive silhouette had already emerged.

Milim, who had been restless just moments ago, fell silent.

Below them, under Benimaru's command, the soldiers had already taken formation.

Rimuru watched intently.

"I wonder how far Benimaru and the others can go."

"We'll find out," Emiya Shirou said.

"Let's wait and see."

"So that's the Calamity-class Beast..."

As the enemy slowly came into view, Benimaru and the others stared upward, their expressions grave.

Even from a distance, the creature's appearance was unsettling.

Bizarre.

Distorted.

Around it swam massive sharks, each more than twenty meters long, moving freely through the air as if it were water.

Their bodies were covered in hardened dragon scales.

Ordinary attacks would be useless against them.

Though they resembled sharks, they were fundamentally different creatures.

And among them was something far more striking.

At the center of the formation floated a massive one-eyed dragon, accompanied by only thirteen sharks.

Its size dwarfed them all.

So large that the giant sharks looked like specks in comparison.

Its body alone was roughly three times larger than theirs.

Its length exceeded fifty meters.

Its head was sharp and streamlined like a shark's, with a single enormous eyeball embedded beneath it.

The upper portion of its head was as hard as a horn, radiating a sense of crushing power, as though it could pierce rock with ease.

Its limbs were vestigial, little more than decorative extensions, similar to those found on a shark's body.

The Calamity-class Beast.

A monster that radiated a strange, almost unsettling beauty.

"Let's test its magicule interference first."

Benimaru raised his hand.

Black flames gathered in his palm, dense and oppressive.

Without hesitation, he unleashed his full power.

"Take this-Black Flame Prison!"

Dark fire erupted forward, striking the Calamity-class Beast directly.

The flames spread instantly, engulfing both the main body and one of the nearby giant sharks.

They burned violently, refusing to dissipate.

"How is it!?"

Every gaze fixed on the sky.

Tension crept through the ranks.

Then the flames cleared.

The Calamity-class Beast drifted there, unharmed, moving freely as if nothing had happened.

"It's completely ineffective!"

"Not entirely."

Hakurou's voice cut in, calm and steady.

"The giant shark that was hit is falling."

Indeed, one of the massive sharks was plummeting toward the ground.

"Don't comfort me," Benimaru said, shaking his head.

"Even that shark wasn't fully burned."

His expression hardened.

"That means its magicule interference is extremely strong."

He exhaled once, steadying himself.

Then he spoke again, his voice firm.

"Everyone, listen carefully."

"For now, ignore the Calamity-class Beast."

"We'll lure the giant sharks down first and eliminate them one by one."

"Only after they're gone will we focus all our power on the main body."

Before that-

"Do not attack it recklessly."

His gaze swept across the battlefield.

"And don't relax. Keep your eyes on the sky at all times."

From the single exchange, Benimaru had already grasped the situation.

This was not an enemy that could be handled by one or two individuals.

Victory would require their full combined strength.

"Understood!"

At his command, the executives surged forward.

Each moved according to the assignments Benimaru had already laid out.

One shark per target.

Fast.

Clean.

Efficient.

As the first clashes erupted in the air, the battlefield exploded into motion.

This-

Was the Calamity-class Beast subjugation battle.
