Chapter 356 - When the Blades Finally Fall Short

"Hey, Gobta. In the end, you only took down that one giant shark Benimaru already brought down."

Little Rimuru stood on the ground, arms crossed, looking utterly unimpressed. Little Emiya stood beside her, sharing the same expression.

Gobta scratched his head, his face full of grievance.

"I can't help it! I can't fly, okay?!"

He sounded just as frustrated as they were.

"Then why don't you learn from Hakurou, Geld, or Souei?" little Rimuru said, shaking her head. "You're seriously hopeless."

She sighed, then turned to little Emiya.

"Let's move too. At this rate, they'll finish everything before we even get started."

"Exactly," little Emiya replied without hesitation.

Their gazes lifted together, locking onto the remaining Airborne Giant Sharks circling above.

Little Emiya tightened his grip on his longsword, then bent his knees and leaped.

His body shot upward.

Midair, a pair of wings suddenly unfolded from his back, snapping open with a sharp sound before catching the wind. With a powerful beat, he soared into the sky.

Little Emiya possessed Rimuru's Predator ability. Long ago, he had devoured countless monsters in the forest. Among them were plenty with flight-related abilities.

Watching him rise, little Rimuru extended her hand. A chain projected instantly, latching around little Emiya's leg.

"Alright, Gobta," she said, waving casually. "We're going up."

Carried by little Emiya's momentum, little Rimuru lifted off the ground with him, the two of them ascending together.

"Wait! Take me too!"

Gobta's eyes widened as he realized what was happening. Without thinking, he lunged toward little Rimuru.

But little Rimuru had already anticipated this.

She kicked him squarely in the chest.

"There's no space for you! Crawl it out!"

Gobta flew backward, tumbling across the ground.

Without another glance, the two figures pierced straight through the clouds.

"How could you do this to me...!"

Gobta wailed dramatically, then suddenly froze.

"...At least give me another chain!"

No response came.

His shoulders slumped.

After a moment, his eyes shifted toward Hakurou and Geld's direction.

"No. Absolutely not."

His fists clenched.

"I can't let my achievements end here."

With renewed determination, Gobta broke into a sprint, charging toward the front lines.

High above, little Emiya flew steadily through the air, a chain wrapped securely around his waist. His eyes scanned the battlefield calmly.

He selected his target.

One Airborne Giant Shark remained untouched.

Little Rimuru summoned a longbow into her hands. An arrow formed instantly, projected and stabilized in one smooth motion. She drew the bowstring back and released.

A red flash streaked through the sky.

The arrow pierced straight into the Airborne Giant Shark's head.

A split second later, the monster's brain detonated from the inside. Its massive body shattered apart midair, fragments raining downward as it fell.

Little Rimuru could use Emiya Shirou's Unlimited Blade Works. And with the Great Sage ability inherited from Rimuru herself, her magical aptitude was exceptional.

Because of that, she had already mastered every spell Emiya Shirou knew.

That attack had been precise.

She had reinforced the projected weapon, converted it into an arrow, accelerated it with flame magic, and detonated it directly at the enemy's vital point.

Clean and efficient.

"Hey! That's not fair!"

Little Emiya complained loudly as he flew closer.

"I haven't even reached my target yet, and you already killed one!"

"Can't help it," little Rimuru replied calmly. "I'm using a bow."

"That's sneaky!"

He clicked his tongue.

"Way too sneaky!"

"Then I won't attack next," little Rimuru said. "You take the next one."

"...Fine."

That was enough for him.

Little Emiya accelerated instantly, his wings beating hard as he shot toward another unengaged Airborne Giant Shark.

"Take this!"

His sword flashed.

With the enhancement of his Severing ability, the blade cut through effortlessly.

The Airborne Giant Shark was slain in a single strike.

"Yes!"

Little Emiya laughed, exhilaration clear on his face.

Without slowing down, he veered sharply and flew off toward another area, determined not to let anyone steal his next target.

"See?" Rimuru said lightly. "I told you we had nothing to worry about."

From a distance, she watched the battle unfold.

"The Airborne Giant Sharks were never a real threat."

Hearing Emiya Shirou's earlier concerns, Rimuru chuckled softly.

Emiya Shirou shook his head.

"But that doesn't mean the Calamity-class Beast will be easy."

His eyes remained fixed on the massive silhouette in the distance.

"These are completely different."

"The Calamity-class Beast isn't limited to this level of power."

He knew this well.

In the original course of events, Rimuru and the others had attacked it relentlessly, yet dealt very little actual damage.

"Is that so?" Rimuru murmured.

She studied the enormous figure ahead, curiosity surfacing.

"I wonder what kind of abilities it has."

"Why not just watch?" Emiya Shirou replied.

Then he added, "Perfect timing. Benimaru's about to make his move."

As Emiya Shirou said, Benimaru was preparing to launch a full assault.

With the executives displaying their individual strengths, only one of the thirteen Airborne Giant Sharks remained.

And that final one was firmly under Souei's control.

"Thanks, little Emiya!"

Benimaru called out.

"No problem," little Emiya replied with a grin. "Just happened to be on the way."

Using the chain, he pulled Benimaru onto the Airborne Giant Shark's back.

Now, the main force was assembled.

"Everyone's here," Benimaru said, his expression turning serious as he surveyed the group.

At the front stood Benimaru himself.

Behind him were little Emiya, little Rimuru, Souei, Hakurou, Geld, Gobta, and the others.

In the air beside them, Shion stood atop Ranga. Gabiru and the other Dragonoids hovered nearby, wings beating steadily.

"All right," Benimaru said.

"Then we attack."

"Souei."

"Yes."

At the command, Souei immediately directed the Airborne Giant Shark forward.

The massive creature surged ahead, closing the distance to the Calamity-class Beast.

"Charge!"

As they reached it, close-range fighters like Geld leaped off without hesitation, landing on the beast's massive back.

"Attack!"

Benimaru roared.

He struck first.

"Black Flame Prison!"

Dark flames erupted as his attack landed, and it served as the signal.

One by one, the executives unleashed their techniques.

"Decapitating Oni Blade!"

Shion swung her great sword with full force, slamming it into the Calamity-class Beast's back.

Clang.

The sound rang out sharply.

Shion's eyes widened.

"...It didn't break through?"

Ranga followed up immediately, summoning violent winds. Storms tore across the beast's back again and again.

Nothing.

No damage.

Benimaru's black flames burned fiercely.

Hakurou's blade flashed.

Geld struck with overwhelming power.

None of it left so much as a scratch.

"Damn it...!"

The realization hit all at once.

Their attacks weren't working.

"Die!"

Little Emiya shot forward, refusing to accept it.

Activating Severing, he slashed fiercely at the Calamity-class Beast.

"Graaah!"

The monster howled.

Pain rippled through its massive body.

Then-

Its scales shifted.

The countless scales covering its body loosened, lifting away one by one, rising into the sky.

Benimaru's expression changed instantly.

"Everyone, retreat!"

His order was immediate.

Dragonoids surged forward, grabbing those who couldn't fly and pulling them away at full speed.

Behind them, countless scales hovered ominously.

And then-

They began to fall.
