Chapter 219 - Chapter 219: A Dinner Invitation

Hey guys! It's been a while since you've received a message from me, so I just wanted to say hi. I'm writing to tell you that I'm creating my own original fan fiction story called 'Essence Made Demon King'. I've always wanted to see more custom-made Demon King fanfiction, but sadly there isn't much, so I decided to write my own! Check it out and let me know what you think!

...

After the meeting concluded, representatives from the various races departed one by one.

Seeing that business was finished, Victor also prepared to head home.

"Master Victor, won't you stay a few more days?"

Azriel quickly appeared before him, her eyes filled with reluctance.

"Not this time. We'll talk more when I have a chance to visit again."

With that, Victor gently tapped Azriel's forehead, transferring a cultivation method directly into her mind.

He also gave her some low-level pills he no longer needed.

"Practice diligently. I hope you'll be much stronger the next time we meet."

"This... this is an incredible cultivation method!"

Azriel pondered the mysterious technique now residing in her mind.

By the time she snapped out of her contemplation, Victor had already passed through the dimensional gate and returned to his own world.

Azriel clenched her fists with determination. "I won't let you down, Master Victor!"

"Master Victor is playing favorites."

Standing nearby, Jibril pouted with obvious jealousy. "He gave you gifts but not even a single one for me!"

Azriel smirked triumphantly. "Hehehe... This proves Master Victor likes me more than you!"

"Tsk, who would like an idiot more anyway?"

"What did you say?!"

As soon as Victor returned home, he found Zhu Zhuqing approaching him in her adorable maid outfit.

"Master, welcome back. We have a guest visiting today."

"A guest? Is it Emi and the others?"

When Victor heard they had a visitor, his first thought went to Emi, Suzuno Kamazuki, and Utaha Kasumigaoka.

After all, they were the only ones who regularly dropped by.

However, Zhu Zhuqing's answer surprised him.

"No, it's not Miss Emi and the others."

"Then who is it?"

"Her name is Asuna Yuuki."

"Asuna? It's her, but why is she here?"

Victor was genuinely surprised.

He hadn't expected this girl to show up at his manor. Was she here to see Erina?

Curious, Victor followed Zhu Zhuqing to the living room.

At the moment, only Asuna and Ning Rongrong were present.

The other girls were all training in their rooms.

Although the maids took their household duties seriously, to avoid neglecting their cultivation, the girls had spontaneously created a duty rotation schedule.

Today happened to be Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong's turn on duty.

Asuna stood and bowed slightly to Victor. "Mr. Victor, it's been a while. Hello."

Victor nodded, gesturing for her to sit. "Yes, it has. You're here to see Erina, right?"

"No, I came primarily to apologize to you."

Victor couldn't help but look confused.

"Apologize to me? Have you done something that wronged me?"

If he remembered correctly, the two of them had only met three times.

Once at her birthday party, and twice more during the manor transaction.

Asuna spoke apologetically. "Actually, I concealed something from you, something about this manor."

"When you purchased this estate, the price you paid far exceeded its actual value by at least 100 million yen."

"How is that possible?" Victor frowned. "The price of this manor doesn't seem much more expensive than other estates of similar quality, right?"

Admittedly, the manor had been expensive compared to other properties.

However, Victor felt the high price was justified.

After all, it was located near the ocean and had beautiful surroundings.

Asuna explained, "You might not know this, but several years ago, multiple people died in this manor. So strictly speaking, this is a haunted house, which means its price should be significantly lower than market value."

Ah, so that was it.

Victor suddenly understood.

What was the biggest taboo for Asians?

Death.

Houses where someone had died typically sold for much less.

This was exactly the case with the luxury apartment Emi rented.

Despite being in a prime location and being incredibly luxurious, because someone had died in the building, the original monthly rent of 5,000 dollars had been reduced to just 1,000 dollars per month.

Utilities included!

The same principle applied to buying property.

If what Asuna said was true, then this manor's price was indeed far below market value.

And she hadn't just said one person died, but several people!

That would drive the price even lower.

Asuna continued, "Because my family desperately needed money at the time, I concealed these facts. I'm very sorry!"

After speaking, Asuna stood and bowed deeply to Victor.

The loose collar of her blouse allowed Victor an inadvertent glimpse of something he probably shouldn't have seen.

"If you feel an apology isn't enough, I can refund some of your money, though it may take some time."

She'd felt guilty about this for a long time.

Her family had truly needed the funds back then, which forced her hand.

But as time passed, her conscience grew increasingly uncomfortable.

After much internal debate, she finally decided to come explain the facts and apologize.

"No need for concern. I accept your apology, but there's no need to refund anything."

Victor waved his hand dismissively, unbothered by the revelation.

So what if it was a haunted house? He'd lived here all this time without incident.

He didn't believe in that sort of thing anyway.

And he genuinely loved this manor.

It wasn't just large and luxurious, the location was perfect.

"Erina was right, you really are a tolerant and generous person!"

Asuna breathed a sigh of relief.

If Victor had actually demanded she return the money, given her family's current financial situation, she might not be able to produce that much cash at once.

"But ultimately, this was my fault. To express my apology, I'd still like to treat you to a meal. I hope you won't refuse."

Victor thought it over and didn't decline.

"Sure. When?"

"How about tonight? At my home."

"That works."

Asuna sent her home address to Victor's phone.

They chatted for a while longer, but since Asuna had other matters to attend to, she soon bid farewell to Victor.

As she was leaving, Asuna reminded Victor not to forget their dinner appointment.

It was clear she was very much looking forward to his arrival.

After seeing Asuna off, Victor considered inviting the girls from his household and the chat group to join him for dinner.

But after some thought, he ultimately decided against it.

After all, she had invited him specifically, and it would be somewhat impolite to bring others along without permission.

It would be fine if it was just one or two people, but if all the girls wanted to come, that would be problematic.
