Apollonia observed the preparations for the competition from the highest point on the hill, overlooking the hunting grounds.
To her left sat Uriel, and to her right, her five children who weren’t participating, sat in a row, maintaining their positions.
“There seem to be quite a lot of participants this year. Do you think there will be enough game?” she asked, turning her head to look at her husband seated to her left.
Uriel, as usual, wore a faint smile as he gazed at Apollonia.
“You don’t have to worry, Your Majesty. I brought them myself,” he replied.
Despite being married for over a decade, he continued to address her formally, at least whenever they were in public.
“Oh, I know that. I know, but…”
Apollonia trailed off, still looking suspicious, but Uriel only smiled in return.
