Chapter 14 - Judge & Jury

I sat in the courtroom after talking with both Aaron and Kale about what was most likely going to happen today. They both wanted to sit on either side. From what I can understand, Kale went to UT in Austin since he didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for his degree. He said that he did not want to be attached to the family money in any way, especially after Eric started spiralling into everything. Kale became agitated when he read the file. He's acting like my brothers would have. That was a conversation my parents had with my brothers without my sister or I present.

They brought my ex in, in a jail-issued outfit. His mother was nowhere to be seen. I'm guessing she will not be brought in until later. He went by and was seated at the table opposite the one I was at. Two officers were sitting near him, so he could not do anything. Someone said for us to rise for the judge. I stood up and watched the judge come through the door.

When we were told to be seated, I sat down in my seat. The judge looked over everything before I was asked to the stand. I was informed to start at the beginning when I was a sophomore in high school. I kept talking about every time I got a bruise from when he wanted me to do something I did not want to do. I kept telling the judge about every little detail leading up to graduation. Even the times that I was trying to break up with my ex over the four years he and I were together.

Every time my ex tried to speak, the judge would silence him. I did inform the judge that I had years of pictures of every bruise he left on me. I spoke about how I dumped him before he left for the military and told him that I was not dating him at all. I even sent his commanding officer letters about what my ex had done and was still trying to do, even going so far as to point out that my cousin is a drill sergeant, as needed, and even read the first letter to my ex's drill sergeant to make sure everything was understood.

Wyatt wasn't here in the courtroom today and probably will get an earful later. I spoke about the first time he wasn't supposed to be off base, and came right after me. Then the second time, leading to an ICU visit, which was about a month ago also not supposed to be off base. I described his father as someone who paid for past medical bills and wanted to hold his son accountable for his actions.

The judge thanked me before I was allowed to go sit in my seat. He gave the spill of his side of the story, and it was not lining up at all. He would say that I was bipolar and loved playing with his head. Aaron was letting Kale take the lead on the case and be his 'partner' if Kale got into a tight spot, since he was still new to the courts in our area. He handed over all of the evidence against my ex.

The majority of the pictures show my jawline in them, from where he would grab my upper arm, or they would show something unique that only people close to me would know what was in the pictures. It also showed screenshots of his and my text threads showing what he would send me if I did not want to go on a date with him or if I could not spend time with him. The letters were last. The judge did not look like he liked the responses my ex sent me. He next wanted witnesses to come up.

I had asked some past classmates and teachers if they would be witnesses in the case. Then had my sister for the bruises she saw. My ex tried to find witnesses, but his witnesses turned into witnesses for what he did to me in front of them. The judge wanted this to resume tomorrow morning, bright and early, for a possible conviction after the jury spoke among themselves.
