Kael's POV
After the tense night, where none of us dared to breathe in peace, I had to force Eira to rest, as it was dawn and she needed to rest. She obeyed for the sake of Kaya, who needed her, but would ask us for updates once in a while about Jason and Evan.
By late noon, Evan had finally woken up, at least one good thing.
When I told Eira, she insisted on seeing him. I took her to his room, where he was now shifted from the ICU. Their parents were present.
When Eira entered the room, Evan turned to look at her, but there was no happiness in his eyes seeing his sister, there was guilt and regret.
She sat in the chair next to the bed and asked, "How are you feeling?"
Instead of answering her, his eyes turned moist. "I am sorry… It's because of me your mate…"
She held his hand and said, offering a light smile, "At this moment, I am just glad to see my brother fine."
He shook his head. "If not for me, he wouldn't be there… I won't forgive myself if something happens to him."
