Piper's POV
The familiar, oppressive energy of Aethelgard pressed in on me as the car sped through the city.
My mind was a whirlwind. The encounter with the triplets, that crushing, impossible aura, and Scarlet's poisonous revelation. I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't believe it until I heard it from a source I couldn't dismiss. I needed to see my brother. I needed to tell him everything in person, to see his reaction, to plan our next move with the cold, calculated logic we were known for.
Scarlet wasn't lying. The bitter humiliation in her eyes had been too real. The news about Eleanor being the Vexxon triplets fated mate changed everything and nothing all at once.
As the car navigated the road, I pulled out my phone and dialed Hugo. He picked up on the second ring.
"Piper. I was about to call you. I have something to tell you," his voice came through, brisk and focused.
