Chapter 189 - The Taste of Betrayal

Seeing that Zangya had no intention of attacking, Bido suddenly launched a murderous punch at Zangya! She never expected that her companion, who had fought alongside her for tens of thousands of years, would turn on her so viciously.

Zangya took the heavy blow to her waist completely unprepared. Unable to withstand such a violent punch, blood spurted from her mouth as her body bent double and flew backward rapidly. She stared at Bido in complete disbelief.

"Zangya, you're absolutely useless. I was originally counting on you to help deal with this powerful man, but since you're unwilling to fight, then get out of my way!" Bido spoke ferociously as his aura suddenly soared, unleashing his full strength. His body flickered slightly, leaving an afterimage in place.

Karnel clicked his tongue with amusement. He hadn't expected Bido to be so unhinged that he would attack the very companion who had helped rescue him from the seal, and with such brutal force at that.

Zangya had been hit badly, but Karnel didn't concern himself with her for the moment. There was no immediate danger to her life anyway, and it would be good for her to suffer a bit. This should help her clearly realize that not everyone could be trusted, not even companions who had committed evil together tens of thousands of years ago.

Raising his fist, Karnel didn't even bother looking up as he threw a seemingly random punch into empty air. Though no one appeared to be there, shortly after his fist shot out, Bido suddenly materialized directly into its path.

An eye for an eye. Bido, who had just seriously injured Zangya with his punch, received his punishment almost instantly. He had attempted to teleport above for a sneak attack, but was struck directly in the chest and shoulder, the terrifying impact force crushing several of his internal bones into fragments.

Karnel's body rose half a meter as he followed up with a devastating kick to Bido's sternum and shoulder bones.

Adding injury to injury, Bido, who had worn such a savage expression just moments before—became somewhat terrified after receiving two fatal attacks in succession. His body was launched by the tremendous force, crashing into the ground and throwing up clouds of dust and sand.

"So strong... you damned insect, how dare you!" Fierce hatred filled Bido's eyes as he flew out of the crater with a ferocious expression. One arm near his shoulder bone hung paralyzed at his side, completely useless.

Karnel calmly dusted off his hands and sneered: "Your vitality is impressive, getting up so quickly without taking a break. You're as resilient as a cockroach, truly befitting a member of the Galaxy Warriors."

"Go to hell!"

Though he didn't understand what a cockroach was, it was obviously not a compliment. Bido bit down on his bloody teeth as his one functioning hand gathered intense energy light.

"Blazing Light Cannon!"

The energy wave containing searing high temperatures swept forth, white mist evaporating in its wake.

Hmph, even if I stand perfectly still, you couldn't break through my defenses! Karnel smiled coldly. This weak explosion couldn't even penetrate the thin layer of spiritual energy that served as his protective shield.

BOOM!

The energy wave struck directly, engulfing Karnel completely.

"Hahaha! No one has ever dared to take my Blazing Light Cannon head-on, even our powerful leader wouldn't dare do such a thing! You're finished, you insect!" Bido's mouth was full of blood, but he couldn't help laughing wildly as he watched this formidable man get swallowed by the energy wave he had unleashed with all his remaining strength.

The light faded, and Karnel appeared before Bido without even a wrinkle in his clothing.

"If what you say is true, then I'm the one who took your full-powered cannon and emerged unscathed. Shouldn't I feel quite proud?" Karnel smiled lightly, casually flicking a few traces of smoke and dust from the corner of his clothes.

"Impossible! How can there be nothing at all? This is unscientific!" Bido stared at the man who appeared godlike at that moment, without a trace of earthly concerns.

Karnel shook his head. "Since you've exhausted all your methods, you can depart now. When you reach hell, say hello to those other scumbags who died by my hands, then tuck your tail between your legs and behave yourself."

"Blazing Light Cannon!"

A red energy wave emanated from Karnel's palm, instantly punching a massive hole through Bido's chest. From a distance, one could vaguely see the cavity extending through his body—half his heart had been eroded by the energy wave, while the other half still beat faintly.

"Why... why... how do you know my technique?" Bido covered the hole in his chest with one hand, his eyes unfocused as his lips twitched with difficulty.

"That question makes no sense at all. As a member of the Galaxy Warriors, don't you want to leave behind some famous last words for posterity?" Karnel cupped his ear casually.

"Haha! To think that I, Bido, once had no rival across the universe thousands of years ago, yet today I fall at the hands of a nameless warrior. I truly cannot accept this!" There was deep bitterness on Bido's face as the radiance in his eyes gradually dimmed, the light of life ready to extinguish at any moment.

"I'm not a cockroach!"

Before dying, Bido experienced a final burst of clarity. He raised his head to the sky and roared words he didn't even understand, then perished as his body fell from the sky and crashed to the ground.

Karnel remained calm, saying lightly: "No, you're not a cockroach. Even if a cockroach's body is cut in half, it can survive for quite some time..."

Bido, one of the unscrupulous Galaxy Warriors who had once dominated the universe tens of thousands of years ago, had fallen.

Zangya... you chose the right path. Otherwise, anyone who dares betray me... Karnel stood in the air, speaking to himself briefly as he gazed down at the weakened figure lying on the ground.

Having received that heavy punch without any defense, Zangya's internal organs around her waist had been crushed together. Her entire body felt weak as she leaned against a piece of sandstone, unable to move.

"Now you've experienced the consequences of being stabbed in the back by a companion," Karnel's feet touched down in front of Zangya, his tone seeming calm without the slightest turbulence. "The so-called companions you trusted aren't as reliable as you imagined, they're just fair-weather friends who can share good times but can't endure hardship together."
