I was on my flight back to saffron city. There is a press conference for the introduction of new elite four and champion of Kanto and Jhoto. It was happening in Saffron city since this was where all the league announcement for both Kanto and Jhoto are usually made. Anyway...
The moment my flight landed I immediately took a cab to the hotel where the press conference was to be held. The press conference was tomorrow but the meeting was today. I mean the league do have to prepare us for what we should and shouldn't say in front of the press, which questions to answer and which to not. You know politics.
Anyway, the moment I reached the hotel I was immediately lead to another car by one of the people sent by the league to guide me inside. We headed to headquarters.
The moment I entered everyone eyes turned to me. I went ahead to sit with the delegates of Kanto. Opposite to us where the delegates of Jhoto.
One of the league associate began to brief us about the press conference tomorrow. It was boring really. I looked at the Jhoto elite four and champion. The champion was Lance, obviously.
Besides him was Bruno. Makes sense really since he is the most experienced. Then there was Koga. Same as game. Koga daughter is still able to be a Kanto gym leader as her mother was a Kantonian. Whereas Koga himself is from Jhoto so can be a Jhoto elite four. Of course foreigners too can take high positions but they need to take up the citizenship of that region.
Well strong trainers that actually have the strength of elite four not to say champion are rare. Not anyone can become elite four you know. Though of course the trainers I chose were eligible enough for elite four. Even Blake. Its not like I doubted him. I mean the moment I battled him I was surprised by his strength really. I knew for sure he would be perfect as an elite four then. Why was I surprised?
Cause the question to Drake was just a joke really. Didn't expect for him to actually suggest someone for his position. And well not even giving Drake candidate a chance would have been same as insulting Drake. And offending the orange league champion is not something I can afford.
Anyway, the other two elite four of Jhoto were Will, the psychic type user and Karen the dark type user. Just like the game. Well they were the obvious choice as there strength were on par with the previous elite four. But to surpass them you have to defeat them and not tie with them. I mean why let go of experienced one's for the new one's when both are equally strong. The league after all had to train the new members.
Anyway the moment the meeting ended we were ushered to a seperate room for more meeting. Well its not like they could say everything in front of the jhoto officials now could they. They began explaining us more about what to say to assure the kanto citizens of the change in the elite four.
"Anyway, that matter aside, what about the rest of the gym leader assesment. I hope the assesment had not stoped for this press conference." I asked politely though there was a sharp edge to my voice.
After all my mission of reducing criminal activities by 80% can't be done alone. This is not cartoon where everything can be solved by the protagonist alone. The only hope I have to completeing the mission is by strengthening the main defense line.
And gym leader are defense line of each city after all. There were also only 12 gym leaders in kanto so maybe I can push for other types of gym leader and have 17 gyms in total. That would mean increase in security and me more closer to my reward.
The one handling the meeting was hesitant but seeing Mr pokemon nod he open the slide showing the current gym status. And boy were they bad.

"Pressurize all B teir gyms to improve there strength and why are there two gyms in Saffron city when there and many other city's which could use protection from these gyms." I asked curtly.
"We understand but..." Mr Pokemon said.
"If the league want to let criminals enjoy what law abiding citizens could then who am I to interfere." I said nonchalantly. The meaning was clear. Are you sure you are gonna let someone else enjoy what you could. After all they have maintained the face of law abiding citizen for public. That clearly caught everyone attention.
"The fighting type gym is actually hoping to open a gym in Megara city. That's the gym leader home town actually." One official said.
"Why not approve the request then." I said. There expression said it all. The officials were too lazy to do it and they did not see any benefits in changing the gym's location. Rather changing location would have actually cost money. Sigh. Now I can feel Lance pain.
